I purchased this on Ebay for $23.00, item retails for $45.00.
This is the first palette in the Kevyn Aucoin Making Faces series.
The Making Faces Palette Vol. 1 includes:
* 3 Eyeshadows–Whisper, a soft peachy shimmery champagne
* Goddess- a shimmering bronze w/copper undertones (but no red)
* Aubergine- a matte browned purple eggplant shade
* Neolita- a red raspberry blush
* Nuelle-a nude peach cream blush
* Guilty- a very nude pink gloss
* Gently- a sheer peach w/a slight coral undertone
* Control- a purplish berry
* A small blush brush
* A very small double ended eyeshadow/lip brush
The palette looks like a mini-pocket sized version of the Kevyn Aucoin book "Making Faces". The inner cover has a picture from the book showing the look you are able to copy with this palette along with step by step instructions with graphic illustrations of each step. The next "page" of this palette is a mirror and then the palette of color.
First off this palette is just gorgeous! EVERYONE should own this. Seriously. I've never felt this way about a palette, this is love at first site. Every single item in this kit is amazing and of the highest quality. Following the step by step instructions you can create the perfect soft bronze smokey eye or use the palette free-form and create many everyday looks. This is a neutral palette so you can use it on just about anyone and the pigment is strong enough for even darker skintones. Did i mention I adore this thing??
The shadows are beautiful. The Aubergine is a nice deep matte chestnut brown that when smudged over a black eyeline softens the line and creates the prettiest smokey neutral bronze liner ever. People keep asking what I'm wearing. Love it!! This color is especially beautiful on blue and green eyes. Staying power is amazing! I normally use waterproof eyeliner but decided to follow the instructions exactly by using the KA Basic Primatif Eye Pencil in Basic Black followed by the Aubergine shadow "smoked" over the top. These did not budge even in our 115 degree heat wave. I'm astonished!
The other two shades are just as gorgeous and wearable. They both have a soft shimmer (not glitter, or shine, or sparkle) that is friendly to aging eyes. The shimmer acts as a soft focus and helps the color blend with the skin. Whisper is just a beautiful neutral highlight shade of pale peachy taupe that I can see as an everyday staple in my kit. The Goddess (medium) shade is a beautiful shimmery bronze that blends so beautifully into the skin and is a gorgeous neutral perfect for every day wear. One of the prettiest most wearable bronzes i've ever come across.
The blushes are just gorgeous. The pale cream blush, Nuelle, is a gorgeous neutral nude peach/pink blush. That may be an odd description but it's neither peach nor pink but somewhere neutrally in between. Love these blushes. So creamy and blendable and really creates a "glow from within look". This is a pale one so you need to amp it up a bit with the powder blush in the kit which is a peachy raspberry shade. Mixed together they create a beautiful flush on the cheeks.
The lipstick shades are just gorgeous. The palest shade, Guilty, is a copy of an old ultima lipcolor Kevyn Created called Peachy Keen. It was my fave color and was discontinued so of course i was ecstatic when I saw it was re-created in this kit. These lip colors are beautiful, creamy, and long lasting.
I was able to use every single thing in this kit and adapt it to other skin tones with more pigment than mine and each time this kit delivered professional looking results that held up under lights, in extreme heat, and in different lighting set ups. This kit is a true winner. Long lasting product, good value, gorgeous color, reasonable price, and high quality ingredients. :)
