Well, first of all, I didn't really buy this item. I received a sample of it as my birthday gift from Sephora. I really hated this mascara. I have thick eyelashes but they don't seem to have the length I'm always looking for. I thought, why not give this a try? I'm a bit of a mascara junky, anyway. I knew right away when I pulled the wand out of the tube that I probably won't be a fan. There was too much product on the wand so I swiped it on a cotton pad to take some off. This still didn't help lessen the mess that I was about to cause. I applied it exactly how they showed on the They're Real! video. It was a disaster! I ended up with something that looked like I could poke someone else's eye out. My lashes suddenly went from thick/full to 5 little pointy lashes. I went through with with a clean spoolie and it helped a little bit. I wore it around the house for a bit and then I felt like it started to irritate my eye. I decided to take it off but when I looked in the mirror they were already starting to flake and make me look like a raccoon. Also, taking them off wasn't the funnest thing either, I'm loyal to my shiseido eye makeup remover and it couldn't even remove it! I had to leave it and wait for my shower in the morning. Waking up like a racoon isn't my ideal look. It came off in the shower, finally.
$29 Canadian. Really? I'm glad I got a sample. Mind you, I've alway found Benefit to be overpriced for their products (I'm not the biggest fan so this is probably quite biased). I usually spend a lot for my mascara but I wouldn't spend $29 on an item like this.
Okay, so I may not be a huge Benefit fan in terms of product, BUT I always think their packaging is quite cute. Even though it can be gimmicky. I liked the packaging for They're Real! even though I hated the product and the wand itself. I thought it looked really fun and eye-catching.
This product gives length. It does not give volume. It is not very black. I would say it gives a natural look. This product drys fast so you have to work really fast and focus on one eye. I feel like it works better on top lashes, bottom lashes it does not do such a amazing job. The brush is plastic and has tiny little rubber spikes, i am not a rubber brush fan when it comes to masscar wands, but i enjoyed the brush. This product was not waterproof and i had to remove it with makeup remover. Product does not leave the lashes hard, does not smudge which is good. For the price of $28 i would not buy it, i don't believe it is worth $28 lol this product is sooooooooooooooo overhyped lol. For $28 and all it does is not smudge and gives length i still have to layer it with a volume masscara to thicken and it dose NOTHING for bottom lashes smh. It's a decent product buy girls soooooo not worth the money I would only buy it if it was on clearance. ASK for a sample if you really want to try it don't waste your money.
This was my Sephora Insider Bday Gift today along with a tiny tube of highlighter. I'm so happy to report that this is a great mascara for me. The brush is made of very fine, flexible bristles which are plastic, not hair. I truly think this allows for a more even, thinner application. The other design piece of the mascara is the the fact that the neck of the tube is so narrow so that you get just the right amount of product on the bristles to create thin layers on the lashes.
I used 3 coats and found that it made my lashes more dense looking, colored them really well and little to no smudges. The size of the brush is very long so it requires using the tip to get the corner lashes. Not a big deal but it ijust takes a bit long to apply if you don't want to clean up your work.
As far as removal...I read the reviews about it being hard to remove and pulling out lashes. I used Estee lauder's Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, saturated a cotton pad with it, held it against my lashes waited and then wiped the mascara away with no problems. I'm thinking that maybe some ladies are not taking the time to 1) use a proper remover and not a cleanser to remove their eye make up 2) Not letting the formula penetrate long enough to dissolve the product.
Will I buy it again? Yes. Is it expensive? Yes.
The best mascara I have ever used!!
No clumps, accentuates all of my lashes individually and it is really buildable if you want to wear a lot.
The name literally says it all to be honest
Only downside is that is on the pricier side but it is well worth it!!
If you dont want a plasticy applicator then dont buy it.
I actually got a double set which included a mini which was cool
I have mixed feelings about this mascara- I do return to buying it because I do like the results.. gives great volume to my lashes with a bit of lengthening too. the downsides of this for me I 1) the price... expensive as I find it dries out quickly 2) the fact that it dries out quickly 3) I find the formula dries out my lashes and they seem to break when removing ?
Also in one that I have bought in the past the mascara tube doesn't get rid of excess product so is coated in it and basically un-useable.
all that said it is great for dramatic eyes for a night out but not for an everyday mascara.
it's okay. it's really black. it's heard to take off. damages eyelashes.
I like what this mascara did to my lashes, but it smudged like crazy on me! I always ended up with little black dots underneath my eyebrow. Not worth the length and volume it gives me! Would not purchase again. My Loreal Voluminous Power is way better.
I watch a ton of YouTube videos and after hearing the hype around this mascara for months I got a sample and fell in love, I even ordered a full size the next day! I didn't think I could ever justify £20 on a mascara when there are fantastic ones on the market for under a tenner, but this one blows them all out of the water. It's wet, pigmented and adds length and volume all at once. It is expensive, which I why I didn't give it the full 5*, but I will be repurchasing.
I got this mascara as a sample from Sephora. I really love it and will by the full bottle once my sample runs out. The only con is that it's difficult to remove. But the pros far outweigh that. I can tell an immediate difference when I apply it. There's some extra oomph that other brands I've tried just don't have. This product bumped my Rimmell Scandaleyes or whatever right out of the running.
Overall, I think this is a good mascara. It's more on the wet side. Gives lots of volume and so makes my lashes stand out by making them blacker than I thought possible. Not sure about the lengthening - I didn't really notice it doing much in that area. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold a curl on my lashes, but if it did, this would probably be a perfect mascara to me. It does, however, cost a bit more than what I'd want to pay here, but if it could hold a curl, I would be willing to overlook its price.
