This polish stained my nails for MONTHS. Despite trying to get it off with polish remover multiple times. In fact, I never actually got the colour out, I have had to wait for my nails to grow out the colour. Maybe my nails grow slowly, but despite using this the first and only time in October, I only just recently trimmed the remaining tips of my nails that were still stained. All this time I've had to always wear polish to cover up my stained nails, which looked noticeably grey-blue. yuck. I will not be able to use this again unless I get a base coat as I don't own one, and in the meantime it's useless to me. I'll probably just give it away, but not without warning the recipient!

This was my first matte polish purchase and the colour looked amazing on swatches so I was pretty excited to try this on my nails.
The colour is fun and true to bottle, but unlike other bright blue colours I own, this one didn't compliment my light skin tone and I felt a bit tacky wearing this.
I found the formula terrible, but to be fair, I think I made my life quite difficult by refusing to paint it on bare nails. I was afraid to stain my nails with this bright colour so I decided to give it a try over my usual base coat (Essie Protein BC). But apparently matte polishes drag awfully if the nail bed is too smooth, so I struggled to avoid bald spots AND visible brush strokes. After 3 coats I got an acceptable result, but I consider myself as rather skilled at applying polish and I really didn't enjoy working with this one. And on top of all the polish managed to stain a couple of nails anyway (still there several weeks later).
Some basic advice to achieve a decent looking manicure: skip the base coat, work as fast as you can, the fewest brush strokes the better, Never Ever apply polish twice on the same spot because it will only make things worse, wait until the polish is completely dry before applying a new coat. To remove the polish, use the aluminium foil wrapping technique if you don't want your fingers to turn bright blue.

This is a bright almost neon blue matte polish that applying made me annoyed becuase it is a hard polish to get even. I did however get a nice finish but it isn't something I had fun doing.

Phoebe is a bright blue lightly shimmering matte, very unique. As with most mattes, you have to work quickly to get it to look even because it dries pretty much instantly. Coverage was good, but I did have some difficulty in getting the coats to not look lumpy in places. I wore Phoebe for about two days before it chipped, and putting on a base coat did not seem to affect the matte finish or wear.

Used on my toes. The colour is nice, kind of a blue/aqua blue. It dries satiny, not matte per se, and, for the first time ever on my toes, it is not lasting. It's already chipped in the middle of one toenail (go figure how that happened!). It does not get shinier from wear (socks, slippers etc buffing it) so it stays true to the colour and the satiny finish. I find mattes on nails, especially the toes, a little flat and like some kiddie painted her nails with watercolours, and so I would probably not buy this again. But it's different. We'll see how it is to take it off.

This is my first ever Zoya polish AND my first ever matte polish, so I have no frame of reference for either.
Phoebe is from Zoya's summer collection. It is a beautiful bright blue matte shimmer, which right there is an interesting concept.
If you let it dry naturally, it turns into a frosted glass matte finish, which greatly reminds me of sea glass, but if you do choose to put a top coat on it, the shimmer suddenly becomes very noticeable.
The nature of a matte polish is to not last very long on its own, and the makers of Phoebe suggest not using it with a basecoat or (of course) a top coat, but some people have suggested trying the holo (or matte) sandwich to get it to last longer. Since I've had great success with holos, I'm trying it with this one, too. It just needs to last through one day and I will consider that a success.
The bottle looks very small, but contains .5 oz, the same as an OPI or China Glaze polish. The brush is quite small, but I love the bottle anyway, and I absolutely love this polish.
It retails for around $8-9 USD. Also part of the collection are Lolly (bright pink) and Mitzi (Chartreuse), both also matte finishes.
