I've received samples of this one several times and typically I've passed them on. For some reason I was compelled to try it again. I don't know if anything changed, but I found I actually like it this time. I'm not sure if I notice a big difference from use, but I like the way the product feels and goes on. I'll use up what I have (and stop passing on any future samples) but because I don't notice a remarkable difference I probably won't go out and buy it at the price.
I bought this product on a whim, as part of a 3 piece set (eye creme, face creme and serum). I didn't have high expectations to the serum, but I absolutely loved it! It did not make me break out, and my skin felt more refined and clearer after use. I used it with the matching face creme, which may have had an additional positive effect. It had a strong not so nice scent of oranges, but it dissipated quickly when applied. Definitely buying this again.
(the creme was great too, but the eye creme was horrific).
I was searching high and low for a serum to help reduce my acne scarring and redness, and I thought I'd give this a shot, because even though it has quite mixed reviews, many of them are very positive. I don't even have acne prone skin, but every time I use this, I break out with both large red bumps as well as multiple little bumps, especially around my mouth and forehead (and I never, ever break out on my forehead, normally). I am so sad I spent basically $50 on this. It's really hard to judge based on skin type apparently, because I didn't expect this to break me out at all. The ingredients don't really give any inclination as to why I would be breaking out either. The glycerin? I have no idea. I'm scared to keep trying it, because so far it just seems to be backfiring for me.
Decided to try the truth serum again based on reviews and I have used it in the past. Loved the results and feel of this serum. Within approximately two weeks I began noticing clarity in my skin tone with no peeling as other vitamin c serums have caused. I purchased the 1 oz bottle about 7 weeks ago and still have a bit left using two times daily. I really love this line but I'm not sure it plays well with my Rosacea, I've gotten some redness so I will take some time off and see what happens. When I used the line previously I did not have rosacea and all was well, not gonna give up entirely but I will take some time off.
I really wanted to love this product as I have horrible cystic acne scarring and due to my acne treatments my skin is usually sensitive and dull. I thought this would brighten my sometimes sallow skin and lighten my scars. On the bright side (no pun intended ahaha), my skin did look "brighter", healthier, glowy. The texture improved slightly and it did not make me look excessively oily or shiny. Being an oil slick I am constantly concerned about this but my skin felt hydrated and the serum absorbs quickly without any reside or residual smell. I should mention I quite liked the scent, it reminds me of orange popsicles. But I will say that it is very strong at first and would be quite a turn off for those who don't like citrus scents.
Sadly it did nothing for the dark purple scarring that is glaringly obvious on my stark white complexion. Which was the primary reason I reached for this was because of the lightening and brightening qualities. While it brightened my skin, there wasn't even a minimal difference in "lightening", boo hiss. The best I've yet to find is Clinique's "Even Better" line for such things.
As for the packaging I was quite unimpressed. I feel the pump disperses a bit too much product, and once while I was at work my dear cat knocked over the bottle on my desk. I was amazed at how much had ran out of the top. I feel for moderately expensive skincare it should be packaged a bit better as to prevent loss of product. All in all I really liked the serum and it's relatively running consistency. I think it would be fantastic for a lot of people but I want something that helps lighten my scars as that is my primary skin concern. Just be careful not to tip the bottle over!
Very gentle on skin. Smells awesome (light citrus scent). Feels great on skin.
This is the only product ( out of the millions of products I have) that doesn't irritate my skin when I apply after I use the Olay at-home microdermabrasion treatment.
If it doesn't irritate my skin after I scrubbed off a few layers of my skin, it is definitely a quality product.
Although it is on the pricier side, I will continue to purchase and use this product. I tried the lotion as well but I don't care for it as much as I do for the serum.
Coming from someone who had fairly sensitive skin this product worked a charm. It helped reduce the size of my pores and helped my skin feel and look more alive and awake. Many people commented so without being aware I was using this.
Not keen on this. Its a runny orange liquid that smells quite strong, almost a sickly sweet candy smell. I found it slightly irritating on my sensitive skin, making it red in parts. Also, throughout the day my face felt tight, yet there was a lot of shine and grease on my face. Odd! The Agera Mag C Serum is the best for my skin.
I normally use Keihls vit c serum, but thought I would give this a try as I got it for 100 PTs at Sephora. It's too runny and u use more than is needed ! I'm not so sure I like the orange color either!
I've been using this serum here and there for a couple of weeks and while it does have its pros, I can't look past its big con.
The product has a runny consistency and smells like oranges. I don't dislike the scent, but it does have a rather artificial aspect to it. When you first apply it to your face, it does feel a bit sticky, but I find that this goes away and the serum dries down nicely. There are no issues applying makeup over the product, and it does offer a good amount of hydration.
Unfortunately, this serum does break me out. I didn't experience anything terrible like cysts, but I always got a bunch of clogged pores on my cheeks. They disappeared when I stopped using the serum and came back when I would try it out again.
Considering this is a Vitamin C serum you can actually buy in person (in contrast to the other popular serums you can only purchase online), I would suggest getting a sample first.
