I love this shampoo, conditioner and shine cream. I've tried a lot of sulfate free shampoos but this is the only one that feels like it's getting my hair clean. Some of the others felt like they left a residue on my hair but not this one. It lathers and rinses clean leaving my hair shiny and softly scented.

I love the smell. It's an earthy scent and not floral like so many others.

I'm not a fan of the caps on the bottles but it won't deter me from buying this again.

After trying so many different shampoos this is the only one I will ever use. It is a little pricey but it's totally worth it.
I have fine hair with color treated ends and a lot of shampoos strip my hair and leave it so dry. This product leaves my hair clean but not dried out and it looks healthier than ever.
If it's having trouble lathering my hairdresser said to cup a tiny bit of water in your hands and add it to where the shampoo is. It works every time. It doesn't get super sudsy but that doesn't mean it's not working.
I love the packaging and have never had an issue with the twist cap.

This product worked very well for my fine colour-treated hair. It was very gentle and washed out well without any leftover residue. The only problem that I had with it (and what what I've read what others have had too) is the cap doesn't work well.
Alterna really needs to fix the cap.

I got this product in a hair/skin supply store (for licensed pros) so I can't comment on the price. I have a weird relationship with this shampoo!

The first time I tried it, I was going through a bleach-my-hair phase. Maybe it should be obvious this wouldn't be the right choice? It didn't lather for me, and felt too drying.

I've now had a Brazilian Blowout about 4 months ago, and haven't colored my hair since. I recently started using this again and I love it. It lathers, and leaves my hair shiny and smelling good. Maybe it's just better for "normal" hair types? Whatever the case- it works a lot better now. I would buy it again.

I think if you have damaged or really dry hair it's better to go with something more nourishing.

I love this shampoo and won't be buying any other for awhile. I am confused by the reviews regarding a lack of lather. This shampoo produced more lather using a half teaspoon than most would with two or three tablespoons or more. And I have TONS of hair. It's past my shoulders, highlighted and permed- so not an easy head to deal with. I'm wondering if it's the water in the area of those having issues. It is so sudsy that I dilute by 50%.

The scent is light.

The packaging is abominable in terms of durability. It is the least robust packaging I've seen in a high-end product. The dispenser gasket blew out on my first two bottles with the first use. I now transfer the product to another dispenser. I brought the second one back to Sephora and showed them the gasket. They replaced the bottle for me. Good girl points for for Sephora, bad for Alterna.

Even with the bottle design issues, I bought this for my mother, daughter, and boyfriend! And as I said, I'll keep using this.

This is a great color-protecting & paraben- and sulfate-free shampoo, with an amazing green scent. Leaves hair with great texture. Only downside is bottle is very flimsy; my bottle broke just under lid the first time it fell in shower, but thankfully is still usable. continued >>

Hmmnn.... I like some Alterna products, but did not like this shampoo for some reason. I have fine, color-treated hair; and for whatever reason, I found this hard to lather and did not care for the smell. I found no difference in my hair between using this shampoo and other sulfate-free shampoos, but I do prefer the others over this one. I really like the Ojon one for color-treated hair- it lathers easily and smells divine! I would not buy this one again.

This is a very nice shampoo for those with normal color treated hair. It smells nice and fresh, like verbena, and does not leave a residue. It leaves hair shiny and healthy, not weighed down. I use with the matching conditioner and cream, the cream has little silver sparkles in it which I think looks festive in darker hair.
*EDIT* I would not repurchase because after 1-2 months use I do like my Moroccanoil better.

I am in loooove with this Shampoo/Conditioner. I had never used Alterna products before this, but I am now on a mission to try them all. I was never a fan of sulfate free products before because I love lather. I was very surprised that this does lather (on the second shampoo-ing) and only requires a quarter sized amount to do my entire head. I love the smell and how soft and smooth it makes my hair. I can't say for sure if it makes my hair shiny, but it definitely makes it silky. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone and I will be repurchasing.

Background on my hair: fine but lots of it, wavy naturally but straight through BKT. My hair loved Redken All Soft shampoo before BKT because it was moisturizing without weighing down my hair. Unfortunately All Soft has sodium chloride, so it is incompatible with BKT'd hair. My battle with shampoos since getting BKT has been finding something sodium chloride free that does not weigh down my hair. All the high end formulas designed specifically for BKT'd hair are just too heavy for my fine hair. So, I have been through Pureology (the regular one weighed down my hair and the volume one was not moisturizing enough), Finesse (worked well for a while, then built up), Aveeno (left my hair greasy and straw-like at the same time). Finally, I found this, which leaves my hair light feeling with volume, while moisturizing and adding shine. I do not like the smell much (smells like Aveda if Aveda were using cheaper ingredients), but can live with it for this beautiful hair. The light is reflecting off my hair, and my hair still feels lightweight with volume. Love so far. Hope that it does not cause buildup.
UPDATE: After a few uses, this left serious buildup and left my hair a greasy mess. Returned to Ulta.
