I purchased this shade based on the MUA reviews, but Tastefully Taupe did not look on me as I'd hoped. The shade is a very cool looking greyish-brown in the pan, but when I applied it, it looked a little bronzy. :( I have a difficult time finding taupes that flatter my skin tone. I also purchased Silken Taupe, which is a little lighter and looks similar to Tastefully Taupe in the pan, but looks completely different when worn. Silken Taupe compliments my skin tone.

Despite the color not being what I wanted, I am impressed with the quality. As far as pigment and longevity are concerned, this eyeshadow delivers.

Just bought this Maybelline Expert Wear Single in Tastefully Taupe yesterday and I just love the color and finish. I'm a big fan of taupes and satin-finish eye shadows. I initially bought this shade because I thought it was a dupe of the "lid" color in the Natural Smokes Quad (also from Maybelline) but it is a lighter shade and more satiny. I have only swatched it on my back on my hand so no word as to how good this shade will be on my actual face or whether it will stay crease-free on my oily eyelids during my 8 hour shifts, but so far I am definitely loving the color payoff to price ratio. :]

I own a lot of eyeshadow but not very many taupes...just getting into this shade now. I debated between this and CG Tapestry Taupe but this one looked like the more interesting of the two. It's a pretty satiny medium/mid toned grey taupe. I'm warm/neut-warm (NC25-30) and while most of the reviews for this are from cooler toned ladies it Will work and flatter those of us w/ warmer tones too. It's a great easy but polished look. I may pick up Tapestry Taupe yet per the review below who recommends pairing them together. Retails for a little over $3 (@ Walmart). I find staying power to be good but I do use a base for all my e/s (MAC Soft Ochre paint pot).

More and more, I am wondering if it's really necessary to pay top dollar for eyeshadows when there are products like this available for less than $5 (and that's Canadian). I'd been eyeing this shadow for some time since my mission in life (besides finding the world's most perfect concealer) is to own every taupe shadow in creation. So I picked it up a while ago on sale. The packaging is pretty cheap and tacky looking but the shadow itself is such a winner - a lovely soft taupe with a gentle shimmer. It's not super dark (not along the lines of Chanel Taupe Grise or MAC Satin Taupe) but I don't think it was meant to be. It's more a silvery taupe that is fairly subtle though I'm sure that with a slightly dark base under it, it would deepen up for a more high impact effect. But this is just such a perfect shade for a quick and easy every day work look - Painterly Paint Pot all over and Tastefully Taupe worked into the lid gives a natural look with a bit of definition so you look polished but not make up. With this on the lid, maybe something a bit darker in the crease (or not - this can work fine lid-to-crease) and some black liner, you're good to go for a slightly more "made up" eye. Really a great value and, as much as I love high end products, companies like Wet n Wild, L'Oreal and Maybelline are making me wonder just how much "better" the high end brands really are.

I can't really put into words how happy I was to find this product! I originally bought it to replace the lid colour in my Natural Smokes quad when it ran out - but it's actually SO much better than the quad colour! I have a cool-tone skin and most taupes and natural colours look too warm/red on my skin, but this was surprisingly perfect - not too shimmery either, so I can wear it day or night.

I use it over bare lids with some liner and mascara and the pigmentation is great. This is now my go-to lid colour - I honestly don't need anything else!

Thanks to Makeup Alley I have found another gem I might have passed up. Maybelline shadows have been extreamly hit or miss with me (mostly miss).

In the past, I have found them to be dry, hard to blend and with low color pay off. I was suprised at the quality of this shadow and how easy it is to blend.

Tastefully Taupe is a pretty, cool toned taupe that is not too shimmery and does not pull too warm on my cool skin. I like this way better than Cover Girl Mink, Wet n Wild Nutty (too much shimmer), and MAC Satin Taupe. This looks looks pretty with my green eyes and fair, cool, pinky skin.

Cool toned ladies will love this, and I love the price. I have not bought MAC shadows in forever because there are so many good, low priced options to be found in the drugstore.

It seems that shadows for cool skin tones are hard to find. There are plenty of bronzes and golds to be found that look horrid on me so when I find a cool toned gem I jump on it.

UPDATE: today I put this on properly, with a full-face MU, and it looks utterly lovely. More satiny than shimmery, gorgeous color, excellent for every-day, pairs beautifully with brown/black eyeliner for a not-too-intense smokey eye. I was thinking of investing in a HE taupe shadow, but now I don't have to. Great job, Maybelline!

I'm very much into taupes, lately. I was browsing around my local RiteAid today when I bumped into this little gem. Since it was only $4, give or take, I decided to buy it. I am so glad I did. This is what I always thought taupe should look like, and truth be told, it's what I hoped the 24 Hour Tattoo, Tough as Taupe, would be, but is not (I don't dislike it, mind).

On me - light, yellow undertones - this is a lovely greyish light brown. In the pan, it looks very glittery (which at first, gave me pause), but on my lids, it turns into a satiny finish that is very flattering. I tried this on my bare lids (no, primer, nothing) and the color payoff and texture are great. Makes a difference, but a subtle one. I like this very, very much, and you can't beat the price. Thank you, Maybelline.

this is great for my blue eyes, PPP and cool skintone. i find the shimmer is very flattering in brightening up my face. dull, matte eyeshadows seem to make my face look older. and i love this shade. it's sort of similar to mac era, but that is more warm-toned and yellowy, whereas this is more grey-toned, maybe even almost a slight pull toward mauve. would definitely recommend it. especially considering that as far as makeup goes, it's really cheap!

I love this taupe. It's such a pretty cool-neutral taupe. I always feel classy when I'm wearing this as a wash with black liner. It's pigmented, lasts all day on me without creasing, and has a nice texture. The color looks exactly the same as Wet N Wild Nutty in the pan but on my eyelid, Nutty pulls too warm on my pale cool toned skin. This is the perfect color and stays true to the pan. Out of all my eyeshadows including my high end, this is still my favorite and so cheap. Love it.

so my WnW Nutty broke some while ago and I haven't repurchased. Every single WnW I've purchased except for Brule has broken in pieces in my MU drawer. Since I've been doing more neutral looks these days, I wanted to purchase another nice taupey colour. I was tempted to splurge on someting HE like Chanel but then I've spent so much $ on MU this year that thankfully I decided against it. I was going to pick up Tapestry Taupe but when I was at Target I forgot who made it and when I saw Maybelline Tastefully Taupe I just figured they changed the name or something. It's been a while since I've picked up any DS eyeshadows (except for WnW) and I am pleasantly surprised by this e/s. It's buttery but not as soft as Nutty, applies great. The lasting power could be better but would still last all day over a primer on most people. I wish it was a tad grayer but I'll try using it over a gray base to achieve that. Lol, sorry about that long post- I'll actually will add it as a review for Tastefully taupe:)
