One of my favourite things about this product is the shade I own it in, Tea Rose, its a purpley kind of colour with hints of pink, a little bit gothic I would say, but really suits my pale skin. It is definitely a matte colour, but doesn't last v.long but isn't a massive negative as its very cheap.

I usually LOVE elf, but this was a HUGE miss for me :(
I have two colors, Tea Rose and Coral.
Tea Rose, to me, looks lilac. As in pastel lilac. Ive got pretty fair skin so I thought I could work this. Nope. RIGOR MORTIS IS NOT A PRETTY SIGHT. So yeah, that is going in the trash.
Coral is a very nice light pinky-coral (duh) and I ADORE the way it looks in the little tubey thingy but the application was less so. It was very chalky and made me look like I had horribly cracked lips. Also going in the trash.
The formula, due to its matte properties, is VERY drying on the lips. You HAVE to wear a lip balm, gloss, or both! Again, not happy.
(This isn't really that big of a deal but it biffed me a little.) On the side of the tube, which is about the only good thing with this product, the label literally MELTED off. SO ANNOYING.
Overall, pretty disappointing and do not plan to re-purchase :P

I love these lipsticks! First of all, I have really dry lips and these don't dry my lips out as much as some reviews say. If you apply a lip primer, conditioner, or balm before you should be fine. These colors are great. I love the coral, which has a little more color than a nude. It looks gorgeous with a dark or smokey eye. I also love the red and it is by far one of the best drugstore shades I've found. I usually use MAC reds. I love the stick this comes in..its like a fat pencil, but I can apply it easier than normal lipstick. Overall, for three dollars you really can't complain. I was actually pretty blown away by how great the shades are for the price point.

I own such in the colors Natural and Nearly Nude. Natural comes in a very wearable, light pink shade. While, Nearly Nude does appear more lighter and nude in shade instead. Due to it being so light in color, Nearly Nude is not as easy to work with as the shade Natural. Which is why, I do happen to prefer the Natural shade best.

The two matte lip colors that I bought in the shade Natural have no scent or taste to them whatsoever. However, the two matte lip colors that I have in the Nearly Nude shade have a somwhat waxy scent to them and taste (don't know why?).
These matte lip colors do not add moisture to your lips in any way. Instead, because they are matte, they can be expected to be a bit drying to one's lips actually. And, if you have either semi or very dry lips to begin with, I don't recommend applying these lip colors to your lips without applying some type of lip balm first. If not, the outcome will certainly not be good at all.
Also, most of the matte lip colors offered are not what I would call friendly to all all skintones. Which is why, I decided to go with the type of colors that I thought to be most compatible with my medium skintone.
Will I be repurchasing more? Yes. I do plan to re-purchase the Natural shade again and maybe try one of the other colors as well.

I really don't like this at all. I bought it in coral and was really disappointed when I tried it. It dries out my lips even though I've used lip balm before applying it and it kinda "creases", don't last at all and feel dry when I wear it.
And the name on the packaging disappeared after a week.
The only positive thing about this one is that the color is very nice, but that's not enough so I would never repurchase.

Bought nearly nude. I tried to make this work, used it over lip balm, over and under other lipsticks, not a good look no matter what.
Product is very dry and settles into the lines of the lip.
It had a terrible fake sweet taste.
One of the worst lipsticks I've tried.

No, no, no....
It accentuated all the lines on my lips, made them look chalky and dry, just NOT my cup of tea...
Sorrily disappointed :/

I bought this in Tea Rose as I'm quite fair and I thought the purple hues would compliment my skin tone. It looks great on me - a pretty nude with a hint of colour.
I love the texture - I often have very dry lips and thought with this product being a matte texture that it may dry my lips out even more - but it doesn't do that at all. Infact, it almost feels like the product keeps my lips hydrated upon application. The price is not too shabby at all, no complaints in that area. Longevity of the product is pretty good too once again considering the price.
The only downside to the product, for me personally, is the packaging. The twist up tube the lip colour sits in has gotten stuck a couple of times within the first few times of me using this. Unable to twist the product up, I've had to remove the sharpener end (a nice little touch but will probably go unused) and put something up inside the tube to push the product back out. Also, the lettering on the side of the tube has already rubbed away. No biggie, but I must of used this product around 5 times since getting it last week and I feel like this cheapens the product.
Overall, yes, I would buy this again, and I will probably try out the other colours too.

I have this lip colour in Tea Rose and I love the colour! The colour lasts a lot longer than other lipsticks I have and as long as my lips are well moisturised prior to application it doesn't dry them out. Because it's a lip pencil it also seems to define my lips slightly as well, which is an added bonus. The only reason I haven't rated it higher is because I've been wearing brighter pinks and corals now that it's Spring as this seems a more autumnal shade. Going to buy more!

I picked this up in Nearly Nude, and I'm overall pleased with it. It is definitely matte, and I like that it's a pencil, which makes it very easy to get an even application without slathering it on too thick. It has an odd sweet flavor to it, which I wasn't expecting but it's not horrible. The pigmentation is nice and opaque, but you can use a lighter hand to get a sheer application.

The color is great, it's a peachy nude very similar to Revlon Colorburst Soft Nude, but a touch darker. I uploaded a photo for comparison.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of how it looks on me by itself, since both the color and the matte finish make my lips disappear into my NC25 skin more than I'd like. However, it looks fantastic with a pink/nude gloss on top, or as a base for a brighter lipstick. For three bucks, I like having it on hand to "customize" a nude lip for myself and I'd definitely buy it again.

I recently bought this in Nearly Nude and Coral. The first thing I noticed about Nearly Nude is that it's a pretty close dupe for MAC's LE and hard-to-find A Perfect Day lipstick! I have that and LOVE it! That and Creme d'Nude are my two favorite MAC lipsticks. This does have a different finish of course, in that this is very matte and the APD lipstick has a glowy, somewhat glossy finish. Colors are very similar though. Coral is a not-too-bright, flattering coral shade. I adore both shades. The downside to these lip colors is, of course, that they're very matte and probably not a good idea for someone with dry lips or someone who has a lot of lines in their lips because this will accentuate both. However, I found that they apply very smooth for being so matte and basically being in crayon form. They are somewhat creamy. Because they're matte, they have pretty great lasting power. You do have to keep an eye on things though because it can settle into lines and the color can become uneven. These are unscented but I taste a little sweetness if I lick my lips. For the price I think they're great. The colors are very soft and pretty.

I REALLY wanted to love this product. I normally wear it with an Eos balm underneath, in order to make the application smoother. I think it goes on very well. It's a lot like a fat lip pencil, except not as smooth/soft. I found that since the tip was smaller than a typical lipstick, it was easier to fill in around my lips. I also liked the pretty pink of Coral (which isn't really coral at all). The reason why I don't love it -- after a while, the color fills into the cracks of my lips or smudges to the outside looking like pink gunk. If you know what I'm talking about and know how to fix/prevent it, then this lipstick is pretty good. For me, I was bummed that it looked crazy after I checked it after shopping. I still like it and wear it if I'm not actually going anywhere, but after checking that bad look today I didn't hurry to buy more. I'll be on the look out for similar fat pencil lipsticks at drugstores.

These are new to me, b/c I don't order ELF online and a store around here recently started carrying them. I like matte shades, but they are hard to pull off in some cases because they show.every.damn.imperfection.imaginable. Lips must be perfectly moisturized at all times. Which gets difficult if you're wearing matte to begin with.
As much as I want to do completely matte... I always end up balming or glossing these out a bit. Either putting balm underneath or gloss on top. Just something to smooth it out. The good news is a balm with a mostly matte finish itself works really really really well under these (I like EOS, lubes up the lips but doesn't leave behind a greasy finish). So that is what I do, and the color is spreadable, blendable and doesn't look dry and gross. The packaging of these sort of irk me a bit... I mean why a fat stick? Could we have least gotten a slim line lipstick?
I got Nearly Nude and it is quite nude. It's kind of on the warm side but applied sheerly with the pink of my lips, it all balances out to an indeed nearly nude skin tone shade. Applied too heavily it can look a little bit porn starish nude... hence... lots-o-balm underneath.
I want to try more shades, I color without a lot of sheen from time to time. Plus, these are only 3 bucks.

Update: 1/29/12
I decided to downgrade this product from 3 stars to 2 stars because I realized how streaky and drying this formula was for me after wearing it all day. You have to layer several coats of it onto your lips to get an even finish, and even then, the product makes my lips flaky and streaky. Furthermore, it tastes disgusting! Don't lick your lips while wearing it!
=======
Well, the first thing I'd like to say is that ELF needs to fix its color swatches. The online colors look NOTHING like the actual lip color. I got praline (which looked like a reddish pink) and coral (which looked like a baby pink). Well in reality, praline is more like brown and coral is...Disney princess pink. I probably won't ever use coral, although it isn't so bad because it only cost a couple dollars to buy. I can use praline if I color it with a thinner red lip tint because the color then looks like the original color swatch I wanted.
I like the matte finish. What's promised is what's given in this case. However, if you have chapped or flaking lips, I wouldn't recommend using this because the color will just emphasize any loose skin flakes or cracked lip lines.

I have Praline and Coral and both colours are fantastic. The texture of the product looks very natural and looks great. My biggest issue (as with all elf products) is the cheap packaging. One of the applicators was broken right out of the box. All in all, good product, inexpensive, looks good, and will probably buy again.

I have this in Coral and Praline. I absolutely L O V E the Praline color!! It has just enough pigment to make my teeth look whiter but still have a nice natural look.
I think for the price you get an enormous amount of product! I always put on a chapstick before application, it's not terribly drying but I feel it would be uncomfortable without it. I gave it two lippies for price because compared to the other products from ELF it is more expensive, but in the grand scheme of makeup, you're not going to break the bank at all in any sense of the word!
I don't love the Coral color, I don't think the color is the best on me and it's more peachy than coral to me. Also it does accentuate the lines on my lips, making them look more dry.
For those with more tanned skin I highly highly recommend the Praline!

Got these in coral and tea Rose. They are kind of like chunky lip liners. I think they drag my lips way too much and the matte does not look good on me so I have paired tea rose with MAC Lust lipglass (perfect match). I'd buy again because they can be topped with a gloss easily

Good price, good product. I bought all four shades during a sale and I find these to be very easy to use and don't settle too badly in my deep, dry lip lines. Just a little. These are more moisturizing than standard lip pencils which I find look horribly dry but not quite as moist looking as the NYX Jumbo lip pencils (probably because these are matte).
----------------------
These are great if you prefer to fill your lips in with a pencil and top it with gloss but don't like how dry pencils can look. I wouldn't say this is an all-in-one pencil, lipstick, gloss kind of thing. It is, however, a step up from a standard pencil.
----------------------
Cons: (1) limited shade selection. (2) I don't love the cheap feel of the packaging but they are automatic and for the price, I can't really complain.

I bought this product a while ago along with a couple E.L.F brushes and the 100-color palette. I got this in the color Natural, thinking it would be "natural-looking". I tried it on for the first time, and I was not very impressed. Maybe it's because I don't wear matte lipsticks much (or lipsticks in general), but I just wasn't a fan. The color was too blah for me and believe it or not, I thought I looked kinda like a Jersey Shore Barbie. So all-in-all, wouldn't purchase it again.
((I ended up giving it to a friend.))
