After using Garnier Nutrisse for years and finding it foolproof I decided to give Sublime Mousse a go as it looked like it would be slightly less messy. I have dark brown hair and quite a bit of grey in my roots and have coloured my hair black for years. The first time I used the Pure Black 20 I was thrilled as it was way less mess, super easy to use with pump, covered the grey perfectly, easy to rinse out, lasted well and left my hair looking and feeling great. The second time was not so good. Again less mess, but the final result left my greys an awful red-orange colour!!! (It claims "Perfect Grey Coverage" on the box. I had no time to do anything about it as I was catching a flight first thing in the morning. I'm hugely disappointed and will not trust this product again. Also find it super frustrating that you cannot email a complaint to L'Oreal....you have to have phone during eastern business hours which is a drag when you are from the west. My only advise for this product is try it when you don't have something important happening in the next couple of days so you can do something about it if it leaves your hair a weird colour!

I have been dying my hair for 20+ years. I purchased and used the Sublime black hair dye. After applying the dye my head started to itch severely. Since then, my scalp and hair are severely dry and itchy. My hair has broken off from about 10 inches to 2 inches and just stopped growing all together. Now I am wearing a wig.

Tried this is dark copper blonde,, the picture on the box is quite similar to what my hair usually looks like { I've been coloring for 16 years or so } so I thought I'd give it a go.. luckily I can get away with garish colors because the color I ended up with was VERY orange, not copper but orange , I got a few compliments on it BUT it also faded quickly and to a very uneven strawberry blonde/ashen so I won't use it again.

Like the previous reviewer noted, this product dried my hair like straw *_*. Haven't colored in two months so my hair WAS in silky good shape. The foam is easy to dispense and no dripping is a plus, easy to apply but never again. I always use Feria and will go back once my hair scalp recovers...if ever.

I love thisss! It's so much easier to dye hair now since I prefer to do it myself. It takes 10 minutes for my little longer than shoulder length hair:)It dries it up a bit but that's not a problem for me since my hair is very oily and the cream in the box is pretty good so after all it leaves my hair soft and shiny. There's no mess or anything, the hair color comes out a tone or two darker than the box but fades within 2 washes so not a problem.

Tried this on a whim today - I love most L'Oreal hair colors, Feria & Coleur Experte being my favorites. I wanted to try the new trend of foam color out...
I don't know if it's all foams, or just this one, but immediately after I put it on my hair, it started to feel DRY. (BTW I found the pump dispenser to be harder to use. My counter got messy from having to put it there and pump into my hands... I don't have this problem with conventional dyes, but I've been using those since I was 14, so maybe it's just that I'm more practised at it) I kept putting more and more product on, and my hair just kept feeling dryer and dryer - more straw like with every pump. Most of my hair that was over-processed (double processed blonde for a year on hair that used to be 18" long, chopped it off to a longish pixie earlier this year) definitely felt the brunt of the drying effects, but even the never-bleached sections felt dry too.
In the shower, the dry feeling continued. I guess I am used to color leaving my hair silky and healthier-feeling (Feria definitely does this!) but this just felt awful. It was just about impossible to "lather" in order to rinse it out - I just had to kind of rinse it out. When I put the conditioner on it got a little better, but again, not what I was expecting from a L'Oreal product. Also, I found the conditioner to be very smelly, in a bad way.
After getting out of the shower and drying my hair, it is definitely brassy. I was going from a Feria Power Red back to my original brunette, so I am not entirely surprised, but a bit disappointed. Dark brown should COVER red, you know!? Also, the color is pretty flat.
I was hoping this would be the last coloring I would do for some time, and I could let my natural hair just grow out, but I have a feeling I'll have to do an all-over again in 6 weeks to get rid of the lingering brassiness. I won't be repurchasing this color - back to Feria it is.
This isn't the WORST home hair color kit I've tried, but there are definitely better ones out there, especially in the almost $10 range. It seems like if your hair is healthy and not over-processed, you will get much better results with this product. If you've got any sort of damage at all, stick to a more tried-and-true dye. continued >>

REVOLUTIONARY PRODUCT! I will ALWAYS use foam! I was afraid it would not cover because I am old school, but it did BETTER than gloppy dyes or cremes. LOVE this product.
-Easy to apply (my hair is shoulder length)
-Great coverage (I will leave it on my greys longer next time)
-Washes out easy
-No mess whatsoever
-Color is great, and very true to box. I have medium brown hair and used Spicy Auburn Brown. Left it on for 25 minutes, like the package said.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only neg thing I can think of is that my hair felt a bit dry after I was done, but I am 44 yrs. old, so my hair is getting a bit brittle with age. Don't be afraid to try it. I can't understand all the neg reviews??????

This literally made no change in my hair color whatsoever unless you count the brassy tone it gave my roots. It was awful! I bought a shade 2 times lighter than my current shade and I ended up with brassy roots and an overall dull cast to my hair. I didn't know it was possible for hair color to have absolutely no effect on my hair color.

My hair before was highlighted blonde, and I decided going fullout blonde using the medium blonde kit. I just blowdryed my hair it has an orange tint to it! Ugh.

I absolutely love this hair color, it's the easiest to apply and actually smells pretty pleasant! I bought this in Pure Medium Brown (just a little darker than my natural color) and looooove the results. It's as easy to apply as shampoo and blends in like a dream! Love the feel and smell of the after-color deep conditioner! Definitely leaves hair feeling soft, silky and healthy! No missed spots and completely even color! Think I might try to the Pure Dark Brown sometime, best at home color by far (love it more than the John Frieda Foam)!! I don't understand all the bad reviews, I love this stuff and it's soooooo much better than the creams/gel formulas! It's worth the try - I'll definitely repurchase!

Love the new formula, the foam makes it so easy to do. I dye my hair to reduce the redness it takes on from the sun and it works perfectly. The colors are true to the box and one box is enough to dye my long past the shoulder length hair. Have aleady bought 2 back up boxes.

I don't understand how this product has such poor reviews. I absolutely love it! I previously had blonde highlights and my roots were looking terrible so I decided to save myself some money and just dye my hair myself. I almost didn't buy this brand because of all the bad reviews but thank god I didn't listen! This stuff is awesome! Usually when I do my hair myself I miss so many spots but with this u can rub it in like a shampoo and I didn't miss any! Oh, and this doesn't foam up like a shampoo but u don't need it too because you can use it exactly one. My highlights did show through a bit but it looks very natural and I'm actually glad they do show some. The color seemed kinda dark when I first applied it but after a couple washes it faded down to almost the exact color on the box. I am definitely going to use this product again. Don't let bad reviews stop you from trying this!!!

I would not recommend this product. I had dark brown hair and I bought this product in Pure Black. I tried it and thought it would be easy enough for ANY hair product to turn dark brown hair to black. Apparently not. My hair came out one shade darker, still noticeably brown, and it looks like I have roots now, that shine a reddish brown in lighting.
I'm very disappointed.

This product was awful! Box was pricey, and I had high hopes for this. I bought a redish tint, and dyed my naturally light brown hair with it. It came out a bright orange! after washing with color protectant shampoo the next day it turned a bit more of the color I wanted. So I was fairly happy. It has been two weeks since I have used this dye, and the color is COMPLETELY gone, and faded. my hair is back to my normal color. Do not buy this, because effects do not last long at all. I will not be repurchasing this dye. I thought this was suppose to be a "permenant" dye. yah, so much for that.

I decided to try out this product on a whim as I had coupons for it. I picked up two boxes of Pure Light Brown, hoping it would cover my 3 inch roots and give my hair a simple, pleasant brown shade (I naturally have darkkk Asian hair, and had last dyed my hair with a Feria red which faded to an auburn brown). I hoped it would take out some of the reddish tint, and perhaps lighten my hair a tad.
After glancing at several negative reviews following my purchase, I was tempted to return my boxes for dye that I knew worked for me. Out of laziness, curiosity, and hope, I didn't. The application process was a breeze- I was able to cover all my hair myself without making any mess whatsoever! The mousse did not foam in my hair, which concerned me because it didn't seem like it would produce any effect. I used only one box, despite having bought two and having hair halfway down my back.
I was very impressed to see that my black roots became an obvious brown and blended nicely with the rest of my hair. The color looked fairly even. The dye toned down the rest of my hair's redness and I like the medium-brown color! My hair does not look anything like the picture, but that I expected from experience since I have dark hair. I did not find my hair to be damaged after using this product, but then again, I have rather strong, thick hair. Now to see whether the color will fade quickly. :)
For darker hair, I recommended getting a dye one-two shades lighter than the color you want. I will most definitely use this product again simply for the easy application process!

it's a just "ok" product when you buy it on sale price.

This must be one of the worst cosmetic products that I have ever bought. It does nothing. Not only does it not cover grey hair, it does not cover anything. Seriously, I look as if I haven't had my hair dyed (and I have been dying my hair at home for like 10 years, it's not that I do not know how to do it). I am surprised that it's overall rating is not 1.

As someone who uses home hair dye every 6-8 weeks, I don't consider myself a novice when it comes to hair color. This product was a huge disappointment. I thought a mousse formula would be a quick root touch up option. Big mistake. I chose the Pure Black color to match my hair, but this product did not deliver. It did not cover the grey at all, and what it did cover came out a light brown color. The product also burned on application and stained my scalp brown. Not only do I not recommend this product, I will never use it again. Big disappointment from L’Oreal who’s other products of hair dye I have always considered a high quality. They totally missed the mark on this one. Don’t waste your money.

I have been dyeing my hair ever since I can remember. I've used home kits and have gone to the salon. I've never had any issues with either method. This time, I decided to try Sublime Mousse since I've heard great things about mousse and figured itd be easy and cheaper than the salon. It was easy to apply but didn't really foam in my hair like shampoo does. I couldn't really get it that way either no matter what i did. I waited 25 min. like the instructions said and then rinsed it out. upon doing this, I was noticing a lot of hair falling out of my head when it normally does not do this when i color. My hair also felt very dry and brittle even after applying the conditioner. I had to use another deep conditioner I had on hand to try and remedy the mess on my head. I am now left with damaged and dry hair and I'm PISSED! I would not recommend this product to anyone! Stick to the regular old fashioned squirt bottle. Some people on here have written good reviews for this, but honestly I wouldn't even take the chance with this one. Too many other bad reviews!
