I love this vanilla body lotion and have re-purchased it several times over. It has the most wonderful, rich, true vanilla smell ever. I think it is very sexy and sometimes wear it instead of perfume! I always get compliments on it. This is a heavier type of lotion with lots of oils. Because of that I stick to wearing it mostly on my arms and legs. I especially like this in the summer. The heat from your body really makes the wonderful vanilla scent come alive.

I really wanted to love this, however it seems there is something in this that slightly irritates my skin. The scent is super longlasting which is exactly what I love in my body lotions. The fragrance literally lasts all day. This stuff was so sweet and potent that ants would end up on the bottle. Will probably not continue using however due to the irritation.

This is a VERY rich, oil-based lotion with a bourbon-y vanilla scent: smoky rather than sweet. I like it in the winter on my legs and hands. It is a little hard to manage because of the oil content and I don't think it makes it more moisturizing. Not my favorite vanilla - that would be 100% Pure - but good enough to try.

I LOVE this lotion. It really moisturizes my skin and leaves it soo soft. The smell is addictive! Not the best vanilla but there is something weird about it that just makes me keep smelling it. I already ordered my second bottle along witht he vanilla shampoo, conditioner and perfume. i love the ingrediants, its a very clean product and i will continue to repurchase it.

This is my very favorite lotion. Smells heavenly, gorgeous, subtle vanilla scent and amazingly moisturizing. Heals my dry skin like no other. It's very concentrated so be sure to use sparingly to avoid a greasy, sticky feel.

I bought a small size of this on sale from the Ecco Bella website a few yrs ago. Didn't use very much of it because it was very sticky, gooey, and felt weird on my hands. Plus the smell turned rancid very shortly thereafter. Yucch.

I love this product because the vanilla fragrance lasts all day, moisturizes well and made with natural organic ingredients. The only drawback is the price. Since they changed the formulation (removed water, only oil), the price has gone up dramatically. On the plus side, I always get compliments on the scent, especially from men. I would still buy it again on occasion.

I have decided that I hate this scent! It's not a sweet or fresh vanilla - it smells like tobacco and vanilla. The consistency of the lotion was too sticky and didn't absorb well. Left it in the work bathroom in case anyone wants to try it - hope they can use it up b/c I think it's pretty gross, LOL.

UPDATE: I take it back on the scent. After using for a while it started to dry down to a plastic smell. And since I really can't use it all over (even now that its winter) due to the sticky/slime factor, I won't be buying this again.
I will buy this again for the scent alone. Everyone's done a great job of describing it...real vanilla and my nose also smells a hint of cinnamon but I'm probably making that up since there's nothing cinnamon in it. The lotion itself is uber rich and moisturizing, but it's definitely too sticky to use all over in the summer weather. Might be a different story this winter. I use this only on the body parts I'm bareing and won't have clothes over (legs, chest, arms, feet). I just can't use it on covered parts...too slimey/sticky. Love the ingredients and the pump bottle, but it's a bit pricey. Even so I will definitely continue to buy this for the scent. continued >>

Boy is this stuff thick. I bought this in a sample size (1 fl oz/30 ml) and I`m happy I did- I don`t like this Vanilla scent at all (I`ll stick with Korres Vanilla Cinnamon when I need some vanilla). Ecco Bella Vanilla Lotion reminds me of a dough that has some kind of vanilla extract added in it and it is on the way to the oven... I like the consistency though and it moisturizes really well, could be a number one lotion when it turns to winter. I got this also in Lemon Verbena and I LOVE LOVE that smell- just like lemon cookies. Have to have a bigger bottle of this in Lemon Verbena, though it`s a little pricey.
Big plus for the natural ingredients. Purchased by internet, not sold in my location.

Oh this really is by far the best lotion I've ever used!!!! Love the smell and LOVE the way it moisturizes my skin... A MUST HAVE FOR HOT SUMMER WEATHER especially when you want to show a little skin ;) I love this year round as it leaves me smooth and silky! I was listening to a radio show on my way to work one morning and the show-host was rambling on about the fragrance this girl who makes an appearance on the show once in a while wears... he can smell it a few seconds before she's even in the room and he goes on to say that it' the most stunning vanilla he's ever experienced... and right away I am in my car laughing because I instantly thought of Ecco Bella vanilla lotion... then the girl joins him in the studio and he asks her what she was wearing and she says "all it is, is my Ecco Bella Vanilla Lotion..." I KNEW IT ;) I love this stuff and will gladly continue to purchase it as long as I can get my hands on it!

Hands down the best Vanilla body lotion I've ever used. Natural vanilla fragrance, amazingly rich nut oil emollients, super-concentrated, sweet without being drugstore vanilla sweet. Love it!

Bleh. Tried this on at the store and still can't get the scent off my hands (about an hour later)--this is some strong stuff. I guess that's a good thing if you like this kind of vanilla--rich and very sweet in a baked-goods kind of way (or like a candle). Not my cup of tea (I prefer spicy vanillas). continued >>

I LOVE THIS!!! The smell is like nothing you can imagine and it lingers on your skin forever. It is a rich lotion but I think sinfully rich and for my skin it absorbs wonderfully. It is pricey for the size of the bottle so its not an everyday lotion but I love to use it after a bath when your skin needs extra moisture and the feel of your skin is pure silk.

I love this lotion! It smells great & has good staying-power. It does go on a little greasy, but once it sinks in, it keeps your skin moisturized for a long time. continued >>

This review is a mixed bag for a number of reasons...
I agree with most of the reviews on these points:
-Smells like true vanilla, it isn't plastic-y whatsoever
-Very rich smelling, like heavy real vanilla smelling frosting...
BUT..I too also think that it is very greasy and not very moisturizing. I have come across many more moisturizing lotions that aren't as greasy or heavy (Certain Vaseline lotions for example)
It is very sticky and doesn't seem to settle into the skin very well..like it is just laying on there, almost like a weird cake batter clamminess....
This sounds like a horrid review, but the main reason I would buy this lotion is for the SMELL, and really nothing else. It leaves my skin with such a weird, clammy feeling, that I can't really recommend it, other than the great vanilla scent! :(
but..Ecco Bella's lotion will always hold a special place in my heart, becuase my mom used to take me to Alfalfa's (Whole Foods Market) and put it on me as a little girl..and I always thought it was special...but..?

This is one of my favorite lotions! Yes, it is heavy, but that's perfect for me in winter and I don't mind waiting a few minutes for it to absorb. One 8.5oz bottle lasted me over two years with almost daily use! I recently repurchased for 11.00 (on sale from 13) and was disappointed with the new packaging. I liked the venus on the front :(
Usually I wear it alone or under Ecco Bella Bourbon Vanilla spray. The scent is sweet vanilla, not musky or powdery or too foody, and lingers-- bad if you don't like layering with perfume, good if you like wearing a soft, compliment-garnering skin fragrance.

Unlike most vanilla scented lotions, this smells like real vanilla.I like that this also has a very long lasting strong scent. This is so much better than Bath & Body works, The Body shop etc. This is somewhat pricey ($15.99 at Ralph's heath product section)but is well worth it for what you get. continued >>

This is the yummiest vanilla lotion I've ever smelled. It is very, very rich and foody - it smells like vanilla cupcakes. There is a slight cocoa butter note, but the overall smell is still divine. If you like vanilla, you'll love this. This scent is VERY strong and fades less than most lotions out there. As such, I use this at bedtime so that the scent dissipates some overnight. It's very, very comforting and homey and perfect for right before sleep. This lotion contains no water. That means there's no watering down of the all-natural and very high-quality ingredients, which are as follows: Organic Safflower Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Sesame Oil, Organic Aloe Vera, Cetyl Alcohol (from coconut), Glyceryl Monostearate (emulsifier), Babassu Oil, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Organic Flax Oil, Organic Extracts of Calendula, Comfrey, Chamomile, Tocopherol (17000iu Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (450,000iu Vitamin A), Vanilla Fragrance, Vanilla Extract, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Propylparaben (Traditional Mild Preservative), Methylparaben (Traditional Mild Preservative). No mineral oil, petrolatum, or other cheapie ingredients. EDIT: I don't know if it's because this lotion has no water, but it remains sticky for a long time after applying, particularly if you put clothes on shortly afterwards. I had to pretty much wait overnight for most of it to subside. Water does, after all, help lotions evaporate somewhat. Since I shower and lotion up at bedtime, I think that if there were a Mr. Uplate6674, I wouldn't be using this because I doubt he'd want to touch my sticky skin. There is also the matter of the "botanical" ingredients. "Botanical" is granola-speak for "plants and flowers." I'm allergic to a lot of plants and flowers, and while this lotion doesn't cause any skin reactions, it does sometimes make me sneeze. But I also wake up with skin that is So. Damn. Soft. And the smell is so yummy and addictive this stuff should be classified as a Schedule C narcotic. So it breaks my heart that it bothers my sinuses.

Fabulous vanilla scent!! I love the smell of this lotion--true vanilla, deep and full. BUT: the lotion itself is just too greasy and heavy for me. Good for spot treatment like elbows and knees, but the product just doesn't have enough slip for me to apply all over my body. Feels too sticky. I recommend trying before you buy to see if you like the texture. And I agree with another reviewer that men like the smell of this lotion! :)
