Best cleanser for your makeup brushes. I use the original, or the store brand.
I can't wait to try it out as a facial cleanser. My skin has been breaking out bad lately and I need something gentle and not too expansive because I am seriously on a budget at the moment,

I use this to clean my makeup brushes and hair brushes and have found nothing better (and nothing cheaper!). In a pinch, I've also used it to remove eye makeup, and it works well at that, too.

It leaves my hair really clean but it irritates my eyes a bit. Also it can dry your hair too much if you use it for a long time.

Product's Claims - True or False?
1) Gentle to eyes: True
2) Does not irritate skin and eyes: Mostly true.
3) Rinses easily: True.
4) Hair smells fresh, looks shiny and healthy: N/A
Packaging:
Comes in a very simple clear plastic bottle, wide and slender. While it fits in the hand with comfort it is a bit too wide. Bottle provides you with the ingredients' list on the back. The cap is a hard plastic with a press-down lid to open the little spout. I find it a bit hard to open as it does seem to take some force and does almost stick a bit. The plastic of the bottle is hard but does not require any significant amount of force to squeeze.
Formula:
The shampoo has a clear, yellow-tinted consistency (it is often advised that clear formulas are the most drying). It's not overly runny which makes it fairly easy to work with. Just a small amount of it creates a nice lather. It does feel a bit slimy on the skin when it's being used but it does rinse off completely without leaving any residue behind (that I can tell of course). It's definitely fragranced and quite strong. I don't dislike the fragrance, I think it actually smells quite nice. But overall it seems like a totally unnecessary feature, especially for something to be used on infants.
Performance:
Although marketed as a shampoo this is not what I used it as - I cannot even begin to imagine how much of an issue it would have been for my hair, and I don't necessarily recommend it as a shampoo. What I did try it as was 1) a brush cleanser for thorough cleaning, 2) a spot cleaning cleanser for brushes, 3) to remove eye makeup. Overall it works great for all of these purposes, and doesn't sting my eyes when used for option 3 unless I used too much. For 2 and 3 I created a 1:4 mix of this to water and placed in a bottle instead of just using the shampoo straight. I will say that it does seem to take longer to rinse out to ensure that there's absolutely no soap left, especially if you've used too much to wash the brushes. I do very much enjoy it for options 1 and 2, but I don't think I'll go back to using it for makeup removal; I was experiencing a dermatitis, dry skin, eczema-like issue for a long time (before using this as well) and this definitely contributed to it lasting. Once I stopped it and the other culprit my eyes began feel and look so much better, no longer crepey (which I noticed to be an issue on a friend recently whom I know just uses soap to wash her face/remove makeup) and the flaking seems to be 99% gone. It's effective, just clearly not ideal for those wanting to keep a VERY simple routine - had I used moisturizer it might have negated the effects, but I prefer not to use any on my water-only skincare regimen.
Bang for your Buck:
I paid around $4CAD for this 444ml bottle. This is very well priced for the amount received because only a small amount of product is needed to get the job done. I'm sure you can even find knock-offs or cheaper locations to purchase this at.
Final Thoughts
While I don't love it for makeup removal, which was the original reason I bought it, I am happy with it for cleansing my makeup brushes. It really does work very well at removing eye makeup though. I will continue using it for washing my brushes.

I was amazed at how this takes off eye makeup without stinging. I tried the tip on of the other MUA ladies mentioned and that Qtip idea is amazing.
I dip the tip in hot water, touch the surface of the shampoo in the bottle, then roll it over my lids and lashes and it just rolls right off.
I continue to follow up with a creamier face wash, either my favourite Neutrogena wipes in the blue box or whatever else is handy at the moment as it does leave my skin a bit tight and dry when used all over.
I have oily lids to begin with, and I put a good layer of night cream on afterwards so I've not seen any problems.
For reference I'm a sensitive skin redhead with a bit of rosacea, I'm mid 50s and I have eczema and loads of allergies, and I react vigourously to a lot of fragrances and natural products.
This stuff rocks.
THANKS MUA!!!!!!!!!! I'd never have known if I hadn't glanced at somebody else's review.

Been 2 nights and those suckers are nearly gone!! Oh how I love cheap remedies! I see a lot of MUA using it for cleaning makeup brushes, Ill give that a try too!
P.S This stuff works wonders on acne too! Just dab it on and leave on overnight!!

My HG eye makeup remover. Most makeup removers sting and burn my eyes and just leave my skin way too dry to use everyday.
J&J Baby Shampoo (or drugstore/grocery generic) takes off everything: mascara, waterproof liquid eyeliner, concealer, eyeshadow, all with just two quick washes. I don't have to scrub and tug on my eyelids to get my makeup off before bed, and it takes all of 15 seconds. No burning, no redness. It does dry my skin slightly, but not nearly as much as other removers have. Considering how well it works, I'm fine with just laying on a bit of eye cream afterwards. Wouldn't use it on my entire face though, I prefer Pond's cold cream for removing my foundation/concealer/powder.
Also: the bottle will last you ages, at least a few months. And it's really easy to find travel size bottles to stash in a suitcase (just wrap a bit of masking tape or duct tape around the base of the cap to prevent spills). continued >>

I love this product because dh loves this as shampoo. I use this for makeup remover, brush cleaner and clarifying shampoo. I have used this brand and store brands with the same wonderful result. I will buy this as long as they make it and not change the formula.

Yep this is what I use to make sure my mascara residue comes off when I wash my face...not sure why this is so "gentle" and takes it all off while my harsher cleansers can't handle it...
99c travel size fits perfectly on my sink, too!

I use this to clean my make up brushes. I have been doing this for 5+ yrs. I absolutely love it. You can get a huge bottle at the dollar store for only a dollar! It's amazing. I will never need to use anything else.

Amazing face wash. Equivalent to anything for sensitive skin like Purpose and Cetaphil, except wayyy cheaper. You can get like 20 ounces for 5 dollars at cvs. Great for those with ance prone skin. It's nonirritating and reduces inflammation. Plus it's mildly acidic, which is better for your skin, instead of pH balanced like most facial cleansers. It also very gently removes all your makeup on your eyes too.

I have used this baby shampoo for years now to remove my eye makeup. It is the best eye makeup remover that will not irritate your eyes. My eye doctor recommended this to me. I gave the packaging a 3 because the bottle leaks when I travel (the full-size bottle). The small travel bottles do not leak.

Primer, two layers of cream foundation, cream blush, concealer over all blemishes PLUS my eyebrows, shadow primer, heavy purple eye makeup, eyeliner, glitter, two coats of waterproof mascara... gone in one wash with this miracle.
I'm an actress, so I had to wear that much makeup every night for TWO WEEKS. I went through a whole package (!!!) of baby wipes because I couldn't afford to use my makeup remover. Finally, half-way through our run, one of the makeup artists recommended washing my face with J&J Baby Shampoo.
It's a miracle.
Very drying on my skin, not for everyday use. But this stuff WORKS. And for less than $5? Yes, please. continued >>

I use baby shampoo on my hair every day. As a teenager I have oilyish hair and I get kind of paranoid about it getting greasy but I don't want it to be dry. Since i've used this i've had soft, shiny hair. I never thought of using this as a cleanser but i'm going to start now.

I have been using this as an eye makeup remover for many years, nothing compares! It is so gentle and effective! But I have not had the courage to use it as a face wash, as I am currently using an aloe soap that my skin is very happy with.

This may sound strange - but this is the best face wash I've ever used. After positive reviews for this product (standard, 'no more tears' formula) as a eye makeup remover I tried it as that (extremely sucessfully). I noticed that as some of the product got on the rest of my face, like under eye area and cheeks in the process of removing my eye makeup I didn't suffer any breakouts. One day I was in a hurry and didn't feel like getting my alternate, standard, Cetaphil facial wash out, and already had the baby shampoo on my hands, so I decided to try it out all over my face just to see what would happen.
The result: my skin was extremely clean, my pores appeared minimized, and I had no need to follow up with moisturizer as it didn't dry out my skin. After a week and a half my skin is clearer and more even toned.
I've been using it for this purpose with no followup moisturizer (I have oily skin) and paried with aspirin mask, my skin has NEVER looked better in years.
I think my skin may have been suffering due to a barrage of product use, and lots of switching up moisturizers or treatments - the simplicity of the baby shampoo is superb and my skin has responded positively. I'm hesitant to say this out loud since my luck is that it will change BUT I've gone without foundation/concealer for the past two days as a result of using this product as a face wash, avoiding my usual heavy moisturizers and using aspirin mask religiously. No, my skin isn't "perfect" but it's quite a bit better than it was when I started, AND, I've not gotten one single zit in the week and a half I've used it - which, normally I'd wake up with about 3 new zits per day, minimum, and then try to combat it with aspirin mask, salt mask, hydrogen peroxide, Aquaphor, etc....
Try it, you might like it.
***UPDATE*** It's been about 2 months now, and I'm STILL raving about J&J baby shampoo as a facial cleanser. I can't see me switching to anything ever again. I have one in the shower, one in the medicine cabinet and a tiny one for travel. Still people, STILL have not had one full fledged made-it-to-the-surface zit since I started using this 2 months ago. It's my HG facial wash for sure. So glad I tried it. continued >>
