Let me just say for the record that I am not a fan of tattoos. I don't care if you have any, but it's just not my thing. So I don't consider Kat von D some kind of beauty icon. And when her line first came out and I saw that all her lipstix were red except for one (Lolita), I wasn't interested. The Painted Love set gives you the opportunity to try smaller versions of six colors for $28. Only three of them are red. None of them is frosted.
*Celebutard--a light, matte Barbie pink. Great for a retro 60's look.
*Lolita--medium semi-matte rose. My favorite.
*Cathedral--medium semi-matte brownish rose, almost the same color as Laura Mercier Pink Champagne except it's more matte.
*Underage Red--I gather that this is the red Kat is wearing in that pic of her you see in Sephora. Bright tomato red, looks like Grandma red in the tube to me.
*Hellbent--deep matte garnet red. I wear this one to the office with my dark red and dark blue outfits.
*Rosary--goth burgundy.
The lipstick bullets are fairly narrow, so one has to be careful swiveling up the product or it will snap off, even though it's less than an inch long. Yes, these are minis, but if you're using all six colors, the whole set should last you a while. Each mini has the same silver rose tattooed black case as the full size lipstix. The whole set comes in a cute little box that looks like a book, overwrapped in a plastic cover. Overall, a fun way to try Kat von D, with something for everyone in the set.
