I just purchased this curling iron but I believe it's the 1 1/4" but I can't remember for sure without getting up to look at it LOL. Anyway, I used it the other day and really loved it. It's not too heavy and makes great curls. It's also nice because on the end of the barrel (like where you'd place your fingers to roll down to your scalp), there's a little thing that rotates with the rolling/turning motion of your hand. I don't know how to explain it. I haven't purchased a curling iron in years so maybe this is something all of them have now and I'm just late to the party. Anyway, I picked this up at Sally's for about $22. It heats up to a max temperature of 450•, with the lowest being either 200 or 250•. This model does not have an auto shut-off. The SA at Sally's warned me that this isn't a good iron to use every day (and I don't) due to the fact that the gold plates can be damaging. Otherwise it's a great addition to the rest of my many hair appliances/accessories!

I've been on the hunt for a great curling iron, lately anytime I curl my hair, the curls go away within the hour. I had originally gone to folica.com to buy a solia curling iron (since their straightener did wonders for my hair) but then I decided to go to sallys instead and just see what they have for the time being. I had been using the hot tools curling iron and just a cheap revlon curling iron. When I purchased this one I figured, it will probably suck and I'll just use it for a few weeks and purchase a professional one after christmas when they go on sale. Well, I normally don't like to write reviews after one use on something because I always come back and write something else but WOW this curling iron is unlike anything I've ever tried. Heats up to 450*, and literally curls your hair in a second. I didn't hold the curling iron in my hair for a minute before it was a perfect curl. Once I finished all of my thick locks, to my surprise they all looked perfect and in place and amazingggggggggg. I can't stop raving about this curling iron, my ends are super thin so I had a problem with the rest of the curling irons because my hair would slip right through and it was super annoying well this one DOES not do that what so ever, there is no space in between so your hair doesn't slip at all which was a HUGE plus for me. Needless to say, I don't think i'll be purchasing another curling iron, if this one breaks within a few months i'll keep repurchasing. It's only 20 bucks and i dont think another curling iron will do what this one does!!!!

Lately I've been feeling like my long hair is not curling well - I got a trim, and have even tried using new products. Then I started to think, "maybe because my hair is so long, I need a smaller barrel size to get better curls." So, I decided to start looking around at 1" barrels (I had been strictly using 1 1/4"), and saw that this was on sale at Sally Beauty this week. I read a few reviews online and also watched someone use one on YT. I decided to pick this up yesterday at Sally - and I'm very happy! First, this has a lot of different heat settings. It goes up to 430 degrees, much like my straightener. In fact, the heat is so comparable that in doing just a pass or two on my hair before winding it to curl, the hair straightened out! Which is good for me, because I have naturally wavy hair and normally air dry my hair. This gets very hot, and really makes some great curls. I did the technique of twisting it away from my head - and I think you can get tighter or looser curls depending on how exactly you handle this. I also did just a regular curl-under on my longest layer and those looked especially great. I picked this up for $21.99 + tax (using my Sally card). Right now, it is $23.99 + tax without the card. These come in a few different sizes - from 3/8 to 1 1/4. If you're in the market for a great iron that doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, this one is great!
