I did not like this product at all. After applying it to my wet hair, leaving it on for about 10 mins., and washing it out, it left my hair feeling stiff and dry, and coated. My hair clumped together, and it was hard to detangle. Lots of hair started to fall out as I tried to detangle. I will obviously not be buying this product again.
I will be honest & say I expected something different when I first purchased this product but after continual use I started to really notice how great it is! My first thoughts were it smells okay, but not great. It's got a slightly nutty scent that's more natural. Not super flowery and sweet like a lot of other hair products. But the thick creamy consistency is amazing! I apply it to damp, towel dried hair and my first impressions were not great. I thought it made my hair feel raw and kinda hard too and after I washed it out there wasn't much difference in softness. So, I stopped using it for a while. But I've since come back to using it more consistently and I can definitely say the health of my hair has improved. I'm currently transitioning & for a bit I struggled with dryness and breakage. This helps me maintain a balance of strength and moisture and since using it I've had a lot easier time dealing with the two textures. Also, I read on the container that you can add olive oil for added moisture & since I've started doing that there's been nothing but positive results! I use it twice a week for deep conditioning so I go through the containers pretty quick ... I'm glad it's not like most deep conditioning treatments that are 30 bucks and up. So, I keep buying it and plan to keep it around for a while.
I started transitioning in april 2011...but I was clueless about hair care. I only stopped relaxing my hair because I wanted color.it has turned out to be the best decision I could have made.i started using shea moisture products june 2013...Awesome!!! My hair is no longer dry and brittle. After one use I was hooked. The price is great compared to other masque. I tried macademia nut which cost me $30 and its filled with silicones and doesnt work nearly as well.i have also tried mizani masque and it did nothing and cost me $18... shea moisture is reasonably priced and I stock up everytime it goes on sale at target and walgreens. I recommend this masque to everyone I know...whether you are transitioning. .damaged...relaxed....it works!
Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this product. I have really dry damaged hair because I've bleached it so much that its really hard to find a product that will moisturize and stop the breakage...I happened to stumble across this product by accident, but truly love what it does for my hair...I can't speak for everybody, but it works for me...of you have bleached the crap out of your hair like I have, then it's definitely worth a shot...it smells really nice and I even added a tbsp of olive oil to amplify the effects...you can use it wet to dry, but I prefer to dry my hair a little then apply....
This product did not work for my hair! This product contain some ingredients my hair doesn't agree with like sea kelp! The price is good! I would suggest for others to try it!
I'm enough of a product junkie that even though this conditioner is decent, I probably won't buy it again. I have very thick, coarse hair that I dye bright red, which means I need a really good DC every couple of weeks. Although this does the job, I've decided that my hair's just not really into shea butter.
I used this once and it was just okay, so I stirred in some coconut oil and olive oil. It doesn't have any slip at all, so I don't comb my hair after I put it in. I just put a shower cap over it, wrap it up in a towel and leave it on for an hour or two. Then I use my regular conditioner (Pravana Color Ensure or Trader Joe's Moisture Spa) after I wash this out so I can get a comb through it.
It does leave my hair really soft after all that. I'd just like a product with slip that I could comb through. Oh, and I'm not sure I like the Shea Moisture scent. All the raw shea butter (yellow) products smell the same, and I find it a little strong.
I bought this after attending a wedding where my hair was teased to death. First I washed out the product residue (loads of hairspray) with baking soda. Then I left this product on my hair in the shower for about 5 minutes like the directions suggest. My hair turned out beautiful and soft and shiny! Good as new. The only con is the packaging. I don't really like dunking my fingers into products.
This Masque is not my favorite but it is awesome when I add olive oil and sit under my hair steamer. Yes it gets the job done and this would be the only way I can use it as a deep conditioner. For a leave in, I have to work it in while my hair is soaking wet and it works great. I rotate this product with a few others. I like that it comes in a plastic jar, I can spoon out what I need. I will repurchase this over and over.
I tried this product because I use the shea moisture volumizing conditioner and LOVE it. Let me start off by saying I am fair skinned with blue eyes and a ton of fine highlighted long blonde hair. So this product is NOT exclusive to ethnic hair.
The key to this masque is to apply to DRY HAIR. As oil is not water soluble and your hair will not absorb this product to the fullest if wet. My trick is to apply on to dry hair then hit it up with the blow dryer so it penetrates, throw my hair in a bun for as long as my little heart desires and then wash and condition as normal. This washes out like silk. Amazing product that is natural - smells AMAZING LIGHT CLEAN FRESH. And nasty silicone free. As for the price. This product is as much as it would be to buy raw shea butter, but this product has the added benefits of additional oils. I find this mask very reasonable as a little really goes a long way.
I also use this as a styling product. If I wear a pony or a bun i rub this through my hair first - it smooths down flyaways and does not leave a greasy texture or oily appearance. It really helps hair stay in place as well. So really it's a conditioning treatment and styling product in one. I cannot say enough great things about this brand. I've loved every product I've tried thus far. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT JUST FOR ETHNIC HAIR - WHITE GIRLS CAN USE IT TOO! Just note that because I almost did not purchase this because I thought it wasn't for my hair type. Also all of the online reviews I read were from people with ethnic hair that have gone "natural". This brand truly has something for everyone. With great ingredients, prices, and quality you cannot go wrong.
I like the smell, consistency, price, packaging, and ingredients are the best!
I really don't know what to expect from hair mask if my hair is normal, maybe a bit on dry side. i haven't tried many masks , only Kerastase (which i didn't like).
Maybe you should not use it if your hair is oily, because is feels a bit buttery after rinsing it out. It's fine for my dry-ish hair.
