I bought this after attending a wedding where my hair was teased to death. First I washed out the product residue (loads of hairspray) with baking soda. Then I left this product on my hair in the shower for about 5 minutes like the directions suggest. My hair turned out beautiful and soft and shiny! Good as new. The only con is the packaging. I don't really like dunking my fingers into products.
This Masque is not my favorite but it is awesome when I add olive oil and sit under my hair steamer. Yes it gets the job done and this would be the only way I can use it as a deep conditioner. For a leave in, I have to work it in while my hair is soaking wet and it works great. I rotate this product with a few others. I like that it comes in a plastic jar, I can spoon out what I need. I will repurchase this over and over.
I tried this product because I use the shea moisture volumizing conditioner and LOVE it. Let me start off by saying I am fair skinned with blue eyes and a ton of fine highlighted long blonde hair. So this product is NOT exclusive to ethnic hair.
The key to this masque is to apply to DRY HAIR. As oil is not water soluble and your hair will not absorb this product to the fullest if wet. My trick is to apply on to dry hair then hit it up with the blow dryer so it penetrates, throw my hair in a bun for as long as my little heart desires and then wash and condition as normal. This washes out like silk. Amazing product that is natural - smells AMAZING LIGHT CLEAN FRESH. And nasty silicone free. As for the price. This product is as much as it would be to buy raw shea butter, but this product has the added benefits of additional oils. I find this mask very reasonable as a little really goes a long way.
I also use this as a styling product. If I wear a pony or a bun i rub this through my hair first - it smooths down flyaways and does not leave a greasy texture or oily appearance. It really helps hair stay in place as well. So really it's a conditioning treatment and styling product in one. I cannot say enough great things about this brand. I've loved every product I've tried thus far. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT JUST FOR ETHNIC HAIR - WHITE GIRLS CAN USE IT TOO! Just note that because I almost did not purchase this because I thought it wasn't for my hair type. Also all of the online reviews I read were from people with ethnic hair that have gone "natural". This brand truly has something for everyone. With great ingredients, prices, and quality you cannot go wrong.

I like the smell, consistency, price, packaging, and ingredients are the best!
I really don't know what to expect from hair mask if my hair is normal, maybe a bit on dry side. i haven't tried many masks , only Kerastase (which i didn't like).
Maybe you should not use it if your hair is oily, because is feels a bit buttery after rinsing it out. It's fine for my dry-ish hair.
I had high hopes for this product on my dry hair. Unfortunately, I was let down. My hair was coarse, stiff and hard to detangle after using this; it took a good soaking with Infusium 23 for me to be able to run a wide-tooth comb through it and start detangling. There was also no significant improvement in the texture and moisture of my hair either wet or dry (this lack of improvement was noted before I started using Infusium 23 to detangle). The product smells great and rinses out easily, but that's all it's got going for it. Glad it's working for others; it's just not working for me. I won't repurchase it.
Update...been using it on and off for two weeks now (too expensive and not horrible enough to just toss). I think that over that time it may have actually improved the condition of my hair. Combing my hair out afterwards is still quite the chore...but my very dry and coarse hair is much more moisturized. So I've up the score to the lippies...it's not quite worth four though, but I may consider repurchasing.

I have naturally curly (3a), thick, color treated hair that is prone to horrible tangles/snares. I switched from a low-lather shampoo/conditioner routine to my current HG Salon Grafix Cleansing Conditioner (same concept as wen, but buy at CVS) a few months ago, but I still felt like I needed to repair some of the damage I've caused over the years. I've been a naturallycurly.com devotee for years, so I'm familiar with how amazing Shea butter is on my thirsty hair...
I was worried that this product would be too heavy (it's literally the consistency of butter, no joke), but I find that Shea -while VERY moisturizing - rinses easily and doesn't gunk up on my hair.
I try to use this once a week, and it's really improved my hair's texture! By that I DON'T mean it weighs it down straight - the combo of my daily co-wash + weekly Shea moisture masque totally improves the health of my hair and gives me amazing curls! It sounds strange, but I actually have more volume and bounce - which I attribute to the hair shaft damage being repaired. Long story short, even if your hair is not VERY tightly curled (4a-4c), this product is awesome! It really feels like it repairs damage, as opposed to just coating with silicones which is what stuff like Pantene does... Try it out!

i am not a fan of this product alone, but i'm dedicated to finding only natural hair care products that works for me so i was DETERMINED to tweak my routine to optimize the effectiveness of this product. i recently melted a tablespoon and a half of coconut oil and blended it into this masque with a spoon and it has made all the difference in the world!
This was like putting waxy lard into my hair. It did nothing for my hair except make it all stuck to my head and stiff. I had to shampoo multiple times to get this out. Is this product geared towards ethnic hair? I'll stick to my Fekkai for Shea Butter Treatments.
I'm actually, surprisingly a boy. I know this sight is directed towards women but oh well! I have always just cut my hair off once it gets too long. I wanted to try and grow my hair out and make it nice and pretty-ish.
I like the packaging and the smell is not unbearable but it's not as pleasant as other products. I feel like $10 is a lot, especially when these products should be used with others i spent $30 on only three products.
Anyways. Back to the deep treatment masque, I like the way it made my hair soft and manageable. I just put it in while I was in the shower, left it on for about 5 minutes and washed it out. It's a deep conditioner option. I haven't tried anything to compare it to but until I do, it will work.
I'm a fan! It keeps my dry, fine, curly hair nicely moisturized. I shampoo once with One 'n Only Argan, rinse, and squeeze out the water, then apply this product, avoiding the scalp. I leave it in and style with some gel. My hair is soft and shiny with well-defined curls and no split ends. I've been told my hair smells nice, though I don't notice it myself.
