I really like Emerald City. I love the dark green colour, with the hint of a sparkle. my friend got it for her birthday and it was love at first sight. i have looked out for it ever since and found it last week for $7 NZD which is a bargain, as it is $25 normally. I have to say I was one of the people who fell into the trap of not realising it was matte, but am not bothered, it was just a surprise. i really love this colour. perfect for autumn and winter which i am just coming into :)

I love this color, only I dislike the matte portion of it. It is a beautiful color, dont get me wrong, I just think it looks too dull for me. I love adding a top coat, making it shine and sparkle. It dries quickly and lasts a few days.

I love this polish. What originally drew me to this polish was the name because The Wizard of Oz has been my favorite movie since I was 4 but it just so happened that I loved the color as well. I had never tried a matte suede polish before so I was unsure of what to expect. The polish applied very well on my nails and after applying two coats I applied a top coat making it look the way it looks in the bottle...a gorgeous emerald green color with a slight green shimmer to it. I recommend trying this whether you like the matte look or if you like a more polished shiny look.

This colour is gorgeous and the right shade of green for me. It goes on evenly but is a little bit more stubborn to remove. The polish works best with two coats and a top coat for gloss, otherwise, the polish can chip after a few days. If you want a good, shimmery shade of green nail polish, go for this one.

I love this nail polish colour, it has a tiny hint of silver shimmer in it and it is so versatile. Its matte suede finish looks really unique, and you don't need a base or top coat for this finish. You could however apply a top coat to give it a nice shine. It dries easily and quickly compared to the other Revlon nail polish, not sure why, but that's a good point. 2 ways to wear it, just the right shade of green i was looking for, deep green with a hint of shimmer, good quality, well worth the buy!

I bought this when it was on sale. I like the color in the bottle and also liked the name, I'll admit I didn't realize that this was a matte finish polish. I think based on the name "Emerald City", I was expecting something that really shined and sparkled. And I am willing to be that other people looked at the name and not the "matte suade" printed on the bottle. It does look very pretty with a glossy top coat.
The problem is that it chips quite easily. And whenever I use this I end up taking it off after a couple days.

This is a matte forest green wiht a little shimmer. It's nice and you can apply a top coat and make it glossy too. This is an easy matte to apply and drys really smooth and nicely.

It's you own fault if you bought it and didn't realize that it was a matte finish so you can't even blame Revlon for your mistake. I bought this knowing it was a matte shade and I love it! I really enjoy matte finishes and this polish is perfect. It drys quickly and goes on smooth. The only thing is the polish it self is a little watery but other than that it's amazing!

Why do I buy things without checking MUA first?
This stuff is awful. I didn't realize this was a matte formula, otherwise I would have never bought it. But I got home, saw the "matte suede" label and figured I'd give it a shot anyway.
2 thin coats, 1 thin coat of clear glossy top coat (OPI). It went on easily and dried to the touch quickly, but it stayed so soft that my nails ended up marked and smudged. Even two hours later, they still don't feel solid and imprints are easy to make. It's not like I slapped this on really heavily, I keep the coats very thin so they'll dry quickly. But this stuff just doesn't seem to dry completely.
The color is also pretty boring. Pretty enough under a more interesting top coat, but really blah on its own. There are better greens out there.

I adore the look of this on my nails. The matte texture almost looks like velvet. I love it. I had to apply 2 coats to get the perfect coverage for my nails. I am normally not a huge fan of matte nails but for some reason Emerald City is gorgeous!

Not really sure why the matte nailpolish trend is here at all. I guess I was hoping that "matte suede" would be a little prettier than straight-up matte, but - nope, not really.
Pros - color itself is gorgeous, shimmer is really pretty, and it dries VERY quickly. I painted my nails and was going about my everyday things within 5-10 minutes and it was completely dry, no top coat. Revlon makes good polish with nice brushes and packaging, and it's very affordable when you buy it on sale at drugstores. Also, though it kind of defeats the purpose, I tried it with a clear topcoat - and there you go, it actually looks nice. The shimmer is really pretty.
Cons - Still kind of annoyed that it's matte to begin with, as (to me) Revlon's matte polish is much harder to neatly apply than their regular polish. I LOVE some of their regular colors like Revlon Red and they go on easier and more neatly than many higher-end brands. Not so with the mattes. Looked ugly around the edges and needed to be applied very thick. The matte finish is hideous - seriously, my mind is blown that anyone would think this is pretty. A matte finish on this shade of green just reminds me of bread mold. It's awful. I was going to return it, and I really NEVER return makeup, before realizing that it can actually be wearable when you use a topcoat. Still don't think I'll reach for it often.
Basically, if you want matte nail polish, just wear a color you already have and do the dishes. There you go, saved yourself from buying a new product.

I am laughing right now.
I was scammed Revlon but the joke is on you. I found this in the discount bin!
Matte nail polish, wow! I totally put it on and made a face. "It looks like house paint!" I told my friend. I love the color but the drying takes my hopes away and instead of a beautiful glistening green I got the color of a frog, but it's totally okay! I just put a double top coat of NYC Super Shiny Top Coat on and now it's looking fabulous.
Pros:
Even coverage, fast drying, beautiful glittering accents
Cons:
May be more time consuming to apply if yu do not desire a truly matte look. May also be a little too 'loud' for a professional office setting, depending on where you work.
I dont know about chipping just yet but it hasnt smudged at all and I found the brush to be good, even when working with my left hand.
Now instead of a frog, my nails look like the color of a car I used to own, but I like it! I will not repurchase though, as I doubt I will use the entire bottle. I consider this an interesting experiment with funny and surprising results.

I thought this polish looked very nice in the bottle----sort of a sprucy green with ever the slightest trace of a teal-ish undertone. I applied it today, and when it dried I did a doubletake. I was sure something so ugly had to be an accident. But no, it was my dumb mistake. I looked at the bottle and realized I'd somehow missed the word MATTE. (Matte nail polish? Seriously??) Anyway, I removed the polish, replaced it with two coats of gorgeous Milani Bolting Blue, and tossed the Revlon Matte Emerald City in the trash.

I usually love green nail varnish - very Sally Bowles- but this one I detested. It is I know unreasonable of me to buy a matte polish and then say I dislike its opacity but I do. It looks as if I have coloured my nails with a felt tip. You need two coats for coverage and then, if you want shine a topcoat. I found this just too musch hassle. Colour was pretty but patchy and took ages to dry. It chipped in 24 hours. There are better, cheaper greens on the market, ie l'Oreal, Boots and Mavala. Would not repurchase. I gave it two for a nice colour and brush.

Haven't worn it for an extended period yet; will update this review when I have to see if it chips or not. I hate, HATE Revlon brushes, so packaging isn't that great for me. I found this polish somewhat hard to apply. When I was actually able to apply a thin coat with my brush, it takes 2 coats to become opaque, but with a few of my nails the brush overloaded and I didn't bother putting a 2nd coat on these nails because it was opaque. However, thick coats = not good for chipping.
The color is really pretty...IF you apply a shiny top coat to it. I know that defeats the purpose of the finish of this polish, but it's rubbery and just ok when it's "matte" (this is not a matte polish, but it does dry dull). Once you apply the top coat, it brings out the shimmer present in the polish.
If it chips within a couple of days, I'll knock it down to 3 stars instead of 4. I give it 4 stars now because it does look nice once you put the top coat on, which I always do with my polish anyway.
EDIT: It chipped within a couple of days and was extremely hard to remove. The color got boring after a day or so, even with the added shine from the top coat.

A nice medium cool green with green shimmer, Christmas green. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, it has a rubbery look when dry. It looks nice either matte or with a shiny top coat, but I prefer it with a top coat, even though it's a matte polish. I probably wouldn't repurchase this, but it is a pretty shade.

I've never used a matte nail polish before but this one really looks fantastic! It's a very deep green with lots of small emerald-green shimmers in it. I love the way the shimmer looks under the matte/suede finish. Definitely a chic and sophisticated color. Looks great with a shiny topcoat on as well.
I only wish the brush was a little thinner.

Looks better in the bottle. I tried a top coat over it and that made it stay shiny rather than matte which looked much better. Not a bad colour but not one I enjoy seeing on my nails much. would not purchase again.
