I wouldn't recommend this! I agree with Ashley (hey girl :) -this product worked far better in the little package than in the jar. When I got the product in the jar, it stung my eyes and made them puffy, and the consistency was a weird chunky gel. Ingredients oxidize in air, so the jar packaging is such a waste. And yes, while it is well-formulated, the list of ingredients go on and on. I'm not really a fan of long ingredient lists ESPECIALLY around the eyes, because the more ingredients there are in something, the more likely you are going to have a reaction to it. Furthermore, the essential oil lavender can wreak havoc on the skin and should NOT be in a product formulated for the eye area! The fact that Dr. Gross makes so many great products but then comes out with something like this is mystifying.
That said, my eyes didn't have as bad a reaction when I used the product from a package, and it did make them look a bit more hydrated. But there are so many better products out there that are WAY cheaper! If you are looking for great eye products with retinol try Beauticontrol Retinol capsules and Dr. Denese hydroshield eye serum-they are awesome products, and half the price!!

Here's the thing: this is a beautiful product. It's a gel-cream that hydrates even my dry skin well (I dislike a heavy cream near my eyes for fear of milia), with a cooling effect that depuffs slightly. No wonder, the water-cyclomethicone base also features glycerin, sodium PCA, and sodium hyaluronate, with oils (olive, evening primrose, sweet almond, squalane) much further down the list. While all I'm looking for is a good retinol eye cream, in a mineral-oil-free, humectant-rich base, the peptide (palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7) and all the antioxidants are truly nice additions. This was my first encounter with GABA, and it is gimmicky as a topical muscle relaxant, and creates a film over the skin that makes it impossible for daytime use, though of course retinol should be restricted for evening anyway. I have highly reactive skin, and all those actives made me nervous, but the stuff only makes my skin tingle as the ingredients hit the dermis, with absolutely no other sensitizing effects.
Caveats? It's packaged in a jar. Why anyone, much less a dermatologist, would go through the trouble and expense of formulating a cocktail of antioxidants and active ingredients, then allowing it to degrade in a jar is outright unfathomable. Would I pay $90 for this again? Absolutely not. I'll use it up happily, then I'm going over to Dermalogica's new eye complex; it comes in a tube with a narrow opening, and it's marginally cheaper.

UPDATE!!! I got the full sized jar of this (a gift from a sweet MUA friend), and I don't like it as much as I thought I did. Previously, I was using sample packets (lots of them...I had about 14 I think, and they lasted me a good month and a half.) But the product in the jar....is all chunky and a strange jiggly texture. I have to squish the chunks out on my eye when I put it on...not incredibly pleasant. Also, I just don't see the results I saw when using the sample packets, and I think I know why: in the sample packets, the product was airtight; the antioxidants did not oxidize and thus were potent and active when applied. in the jar, which is constantly exposed to air, all the good ingredients oxidize, and are no longer effective. That said, this DOES still moisturize my eyes, with no milia or irritation...so that IS worth something. But it is NOT worth $90. A very kind and generous friend gave this to me, and I am very thankful, but I wanted to update my review so that other MUAers reading this can know what the actual jar of product is like. I suggest looking at it in Sephora and getting a sample pot there first.
OLD REVIEW:
I can't believe no one has written a review of this yet! this product is fantastic! I have tried so many eye creams and none made any difference. I had come to believe no eye treatment would work. But this one does!! I began noticing fine lines under my eyes a little over a year ago. I kept trying eye creams but the lines kept getting deeper. In fact, the whole texture of my under-eye area changed and became...crepe-y, liney, aged, tired, ravaged looking. it made my eyes, which are my favorite asset about myself, look tired and drawn down :-(, and made my whole face look a good 5 to ten years older. I couldn't believe all this happened in a year! (I'm only 27 and have never been much of a sunbather nor smoked so I'm not sure why I have this problem other than it's genetics b/c my mom and sisters have very aged under eyes too).
I've been using this Hydra Pure cream (it's more a a gel-cream actually) every night for 2 weeks, and I am seeing a real difference - the texture of my undereyes is more like it used to be, at age 24 and 25. the lines are less deep, the under eye looks more hydrated and less old and crepe-y. my eyes aren't looking so tired anymore.
This cream is very light, and it sinks in quickly. it is not greasy at all. it feels refreshing and cooling when you apply it. no irritation, even if I get it in my eyes. all in all it is the PERFECT eye cream. the problem is the price - I cannot afford it :-(. I have been using 6 sample packets I got in a swap, but now that these are running out I won't be able to purchase this cream for a long time. I hope the good results will last a little while. I'm so sad I have to stop using this. I will now be using Vichy Liftactiv HA Retinol so I will see if it can match this MD Skin Care Hydra Pure with its results!
