I like and dislike this product at the same time. I like how this product was a natural sunscreen. It didn't break my skin out and didn't leave my oily skin too greasy. I don't love this product as much as a Shishedo sunscreen which is a great sunscreen and a great primer for makeup. I think I would like this sunscreen for the winter and especially during ski time, but it would be annoying to buy a sunscreen just for one season

I've been looking high and low for a reasonably priced chemical free moisturiser with sunscreen and this is covers most of the bases. It's not too expensive, it doubles as a moisturiser and the ingredients are fairly harmless for the amount of sun protection it offers. It does both UVA and UVB with a decent amount of SPF (40) without leaving a white cast. It also doesn't use nano-technology -- it's listed in the FAQ on JM's website.
I see that a lot of people take issues with the scent. It's the apricot seed oil, which is good for the skin, but does have a rather strong sweet smell that can take some getting used to. I tend to be turned off by strong scents, but this doesn't bother me and it goes away in a few minutes.
The texture of the product is creamy with low viscosity. It spreads evenly and well, a little going a long way. Those with dry skin may not find it moisturising enough, but it was enough for me. I still find it a little shiny, but I'm often in makeup so it doesn't matter. It hasn't added to any of my skin issues (acne and clogged pores) like straight up Argan Oil -- I'm one of the only people I've encountered who cannot handle that stuff in its pure form on my face (it's fine everywhere else).
So far, I'm finding this product to be a win. It's conveniently available at Sephora and the packaging is quality.

Was excited to use this since it has SPF 40 and heard only high praises from the nice emplyee @ Sephora; well purchased it and it made my eyes burn! I didn't even apply the product close to my eyes and throughout the day I kept thinking, my eyes burn. I tried this product out for 3 days and it was the same. Ended up returning it.

Very nice product, i'm on my third bottle. I use about three pumps daily along with Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control sunscreen formulated for the eyes for the ultimate sun protected daily skincare routine!
Josie's products are highly appealing to me because they don't contain a whole range of junk and crappy chemicals. I have loved everything I have tried in her line. This product is awesome, it blends in easily and absorbs well. One of my top favorite facial sunscreens!
Highly recommended! Plus the SPF 40 is fantastic!

I love this stuff! I got this in a set over the holidays, and waited until I was out of my other sunscreen before I tried it. This is the best sunscreen I've used on my face! It feels very lightweight and doesn't make me shiny or oily at all. The only thing I don't like about it is the smell that reminds me of Vicks cough medicine. But I can get past that because this product performs. Good job Josie!

Gosh I love this stuff. I have combo, acne prone skin and have had a tough time finding an SPF that doesn't make me greasy and clog my pores. I've been using this for a few months no and have had no issues whatsoever. Might be HG.

Pretty light on my skin, and smells like blueberries! This doesn't make my face greasy or anything, but I would love it so much more if it's even LESS greasy. Overall, I love that my face is finally protected from the sun!

I swear I don't work for JMC, but I'm having such wonderful results with her products that I want to spread the word in hopes that these products will remain on the shelves for a long time. This is a multi-tasking product that really delivers. It is a silky (not greasy) moisturizer, an excellent sunscreen and terrific primer all in one. For reference, I have dry skin. For most people this would be a sufficient moisturizer. I apply my normal moisturizer, let it sink in, and then top with this sunscreen. I've been using JMC's Matchmaker foundation and concealer over this sunscreen. I swear my normally large pores look airbrushed. I love the lightweight feel of the product. I love that it imparts absolutely no cast. I love that it doesn't sting or feel sticky. I love, love, love this. This will replace my Shisheido and my LM hydrating primer (which I did love, but no longer need.)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff. I'm very picky about sunscreen, as my skin is very sensitive to all sorts of things: silicones, chemical sunscreens, mineral oil, parabens, you name it. I like that this product is hydrating in addition to providing me with sun protection, and the physical block is gentle on my skin. I wouldn't say I'm particularly oily, but I am prone to blemishes, and this is one of the few sun protection products I've tried that hasn't caused me any problems. I'm on my third bottle.
Speaking of bottles, it comes in a pump bottle made of tinted glass, which is a really great way of keeping the product from getting contaminated by water, light and bacteria. Thumbs up for the packaging.
It doesn't leave a white cast, nor does it grease me up. I have no trouble putting makeup on over it (and I don't have to worry about anything in my makeup messing with the sun protection factor, as I would with a chemical sunscreen).
I would highly recommend this.

I ran out of my Shiseido SPF 32 eye cream and just happened to see this on the shelf.. It had more product, a higher SPF, and was Josie Maran's all natural sunscreen so I bought it thinking I could use it around my eye instead. With the natural ingredients and lack of chemical sun blockers it sounded even better than the Shiseido which has octinoxate. The texture is more liquidy than the Shiseido eye cream so in applying it I got some in my eye. Let me say that I've used a lot of products and I've gotten a ton of them in my eyes. It's not a lot of fun, it hurts, I wish I never messed up and did it.. But nothing has EVER hurt as much as this did. I actually wanted to go to a doctor. I tried rinsing it out but still the entire day my eye was bright red and it hurt to keep it open. You don't know how many bathroom trips I made to pat at the tears that were coming out. Needless to say I immediately brought this back to Sephora. I now use another sunscreen with Mexoryl in it around the eye area, it gets in there fairly often, but it never hurts as much as the one time I got this product in my eye. That reason alone will prevent me from ever purchasing this product again.

I purchased this because I like the Agan oil and wanted something with SPF. It does leave a somewhat heavy feeling on my face, however, not unbearable. The smell at first is very strong and sweet, but it does fade away after a bit. I would not repurchase only because find myself dabbing at my face about an hour later, trying to soak up some of the oil on my face. I do not have to do that when I do not use this. It does not seem to clog my pores or make me breakout.

I was looking for a chemical free sunscreen that doesn't leave a white, ghostly residue or break me out or sit like a plastic layer on top of my skin and I think I have found it. I like Dermalogica's Super Sensitive SPF 25 but it leaves me a tad white and chalky so this is a fantastic replacement. It contains Argan oil so it's pretty moisturizing on it's own and smells divine. The glass pump bottle dispenses the right amount (2 pumps covers my entire face) without being wasteful and it just disappears into my skin with or without moisturizer. I might use it alone in summer time but for the colder seasons I do need something underneath. I am not sure if super oily or acne prone skins would enjoy this product because of the argan oil but for anyone else (combo to super dry) this is a great sunscreen for daily use. It doesnt have that awful sunscreen smell either. It's a slightly bigger bottle (60ml) than the usual sunscreens out there so you get a bit more for your money. Give it a try!

I really like this product. I am using SPF everyday. Wish I had years ago but better late than never. It keeps my face feeling soft and I no longer want chemicals on my face. JM products are all natural and I like that. If I sweat and it gets in my eyes it does sting but chemical SPF makes me go blind for a few seconds- not this stuff.

My new go-to sunscreen. Really love this stuff. It smells fantastic (light and orange-y). It applies a tad bit white, but if you let it soak in for a minute, that disappears. It is very light and does not feel like it "sits" on your skin like most physical SSs do. I worry that the coverage is not as good as others because of the thin texture and absorbancy, but I have not noticed getting any additional color when in the sun, so it seems to work--would love to hear from someone who tests it out at the beach. Expensive, yes, but the ingredients and packaging are high-quality and it can double as a moisturizer in the spring/summer months. Very impressed with this one!

I really love this sunscreen. I've used it one week now and have no breakouts, rash or reaction on my very sensitive skin. It is very moisturizing, but imagine I'll need a moisturizer under it once the humidity leaves VA. It sinks in and it seems to plump up the skin. It also acts as a nice primer/base for my foundation. I think I will buy it again and again. A little seems to go a long way; wish it were a tad cheaper!

I purchased this sunscreen a few months ago because I was looking for something more natural after all the hype about oxybenzoate and retinyl palmitate and their possible link to skin cancer.
I am relatively fair, but with olive undertones (I'm Greek). While I do get really dark tans if I'm out in the sun for days/weeks, I can also get some pretty nasty burns as well and do peel at times. I have combination skin (very oily noise, but very dry cheeks/chin). I don't break out, but my skin can be sensitive when using cheaper products (e.g. Cover Girl foundation/powder did make me break out).
I found this to be a pretty good sunscreen in that it went on smoothly, and did not look waxy/white/too shiny. I did still wear makeup on top and it went on okay. The smell isn't very strong so I'm not sure what other reviewers meant. It's definintely not like Coppertone or Banana Beach, but it is not unscented either. I used it under my eyes as well but made sure not to get too close to the lash line or anything and I did not find that it stung my eyes or irritated them all. I wore it while walking around in the sun for hours and I did not burn at all, so based on all that I would have to say that I would buy this product again.

This is my first Josie Maran product and probably will be my last. The reason is:
1) while this maybe a great nonchemical sunscreen, it makes my eyes burn- what torture!! I have only successfully used 2 sunscreens (out of thousands) in my life that actually worked for my oily skin. I recently bought Clinique city block, Im returning JM and trying that instead.
2) The bottle says it can be used by someone who cant stand scents, well this is heavily scented like bubble gum.
As for getting sunburned, you can it didnt but the areas of where my eyes were swollen well it rubbed off.

HG! I'd been using Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 55 for a while, and my skin seemed to develop a serious sensitivity to it and all chemical sunscreens. Anytime I applied a chemical sunscreen, my skin would feel like it was severely sunburned! Not fun, especially since I use sunscreen religiously every single day.
So I started searching for a non-chemical replacement and ended up buying the travel sized bottle of this from Sephora ($14). I think it's a fantastic product. Yes, it'll cost more up front than most sunscreens ($32 for full bottle), but a little bit goes a long way and it doubles as a moisturizer (great for my super dry skin). I'm basically vampire white and never have I had any problems with sun exposure while using this. If you're spending a lot of time in the sun, you'll want to reapply this regularly just like any other sunscreen. But I feel completely confident in it's ability to protect my damn-near translucent skin from the sun.
I especially like that I can mix some of this (1.5 - 2 pumps just for my face) in with a few drops of foundation to create the perfect tinted moisturizer for the summer. Goes on smooth and doesn't look as greasy as most sunscreens/moisturizers. Haven't experienced any irritation or breakouts either.
The bottle is great, it's easy to pump out just the right amount and I haven't had any clogs. Just make sure you shake it well before using. The travel size is also great for throwing in a purse or suitcase since it's small and the cap will prevent spills.
Will repurchase over and over and over again.
