I've been using this for several years for myself and my 8 year old son. I've used it for when we go swimming or play golf, none of us have ever gotten even a little pink while wearing this. It doesn't irritate our sensitive skin either. It's a pain to order it as it's not available in the US and It's also about twice the price of drugstore SS but the protection is so much better that it's worth it. We've used Banana Boat kids spray SPF 50 in a pinch when we ran out of this and did tan a bit. So I reordered the Dermo Peds and now that's all we use. I used it on my son since before he tuned 2 and he's never had problems with it. We've used it in Las Vegas in July, a summer vacation in Orlando, and many steamy summers in the South

This review is for the new, re-formulated version (PPD 39) (my tube has a cartoon picture of two kids riding in what looks like an inflatable duck raft). This formulation is much thicker than the version I have that's a couple years old, which actually makes it easier to apply. At first I was put off by this, thinking that it would be ultra-whitening on my skin (I have a yellow-based complexion), but so far, I'm pretty pleased. There is a bit of a white tint, but after several days of use I have gotten used to it (I don't use powder or anything else on top of it). I have no idea how this would look when photographed, though.
I agree with the reviewer below who said that applying it to both your face and your neck makes a big difference in terms of making the white-tint less noticeable. And I also agree with the reviewer below that who noted that this version may be a bit less water resistant, though I have not had a lot of opportunity to try it out. In my opinion, it also seems less sticky on the face than the older version.
Overall, despite the slight white cast (which I don't notice after an hour or so), because of the super-high PPD and the fact that I experience no burning or irritation at all from this, I rate this as a keeper. I also notice no scent whatsoever (not even a chemical scent), so that, for me, is a big bonus. I will definitely be using this when I have to spend a lot of time outdoors.
I may give the SPF 30 version a try, or go with the suggestion of another reviewer and try the non-kids version (SPF 50) of this product to compare. (Just FYI, I ordered mine from the Pharmamundi storefront on Amazon and received my order quite promptly. Note, however, that the picture on Amazon seem to be of the older product, but I received what appears to be the newest version of this product from them.)

I have the 300 ml Euro version with ppd 39 (bought it to spanish pharmacy for less than 15 euros).
I was expecting this to be thicker...It's not bad for a ppd 39. It's not difficult to spread and does not feel oily on the back of my hands and arms.
It's slightly more yellow than the LRP fluids and leaves a silvery white cast that fades after 30min-1h.
The bad:
- Its water resistance is very disappointing. On the packaging, it says that is very water resistant, but it isn't. When my hands touch water I can see it coming off (the water starts to become whiter). Anthelios ac spf 30 ppd 19 was more water resistant.
- It's too oily for my face (combination/oily skin). I only tried once - on a rainy and cold day. At first, it does not feel too bad (but my face is shinier and whiter), then it becomes greasier and greasier fast...after 2 hours I could not stand it anymore. The silvery white cast had not yet disappeared (usually white casts are more noticeable on my face).

which are ingredients i try to avoid due to my sun sensitivity.
it offers GREAT UVA and uvb protection which is so great for me and my super sun sensitive skin!!
i find it a little whitening and a little shiny but the shine is easily cut with a dusting of powder in my t-zone and then with my liquid foundation (nars sheer glow - has coated TO2 so wont affect avobenzone in the ss) overtop the powder the finish is amazing!!
the whitening isnt too bad either as long as i make sure to apply the ss to my neck as well - which i should be doing anyways- the whitening is not obvious at all - it actually evens out my skintone which i like :) my skin is super pale though but i do find it to have a nice brightening effect!
the only thing that i wish would be different about the ss is that it contains alcohol so its a little bit drying but not too bad. for soem reason my skin actually looks dryer with zinc based ss than with this. but to compensate for the drying effect of the alcohol in this ss, i use toms of moisturizer at night after washing my face and i dont wash my face in the am.

also i just want to thank everyone (you mua-ers know who u are!! :) ) who have helped me with figuring out ss and has helped lead me to this point that i now can use an ss that really works for me that i dont have to keep reappling every 2 hrs every day (of course i know this should be reapplied often if out on the beach sweating and swimming or in a sitution whete the ss would physically get removed) but for everyday use im so happy not to have to reapply all the time anymore!)

Oh dear, this has been reformulated without chemical filters and now it's like going back to an early 90s sunblock when I apply it to my face - I have a deathly, 'tin man' look that means that I have to wear a darker foundation and even then it seems to bleach out my dark eyebrows in photographs. Why do companies alter the good products?
I used to wear this because it had high protection (PPD28, now increased to PPD 39!) but it was less white than the untinted fluid extreme. It had a nice light texture that wasn't at all bad on my oily t-zone. It even uplit my face a little. No more! The texture is now thick and tacky and my foundation breaks up even when there is a primer between the two products. I don't even think it's fair to apply this to a child's face. What child wants to walk around with a grey/white face? The minute they see themselves in the mirror, they will refuse to go out with it on! You would think technology would have advanced enough for labs to be able to create the perfect sunblock by now, wouldn't you?
N.B I would wear the tinted fluid extreme but the colour is rather odd and makes one's complexion look dull and you can't apply it to the neck unless you want a stained white shirt. With the fluid extreme, it feels so thin that any foundation with alcohol might seriously reduce its efficacy.
What now? I'll have to mix a little tinted fluid extreme with another product from the Anthelios range. Sigh.
Update: I compared this with their 50+ waterproof lotion yesterday that has a PPD of 32. I applied a dollop to each arm. This is what I observed:
1) The Dermo Pediatrics is more yellow in colour than the standard one. You wouldn't know this unless you compared them side by side.
2) When rubbed in, the Dermo gives a silvery-white sheen that looks quite pretty on a tanned arm - don't be fooled, it's not at all flattering on the face.
3) The Dermo looks much more occlusive than the standard 50+. I easily tell which arm had the Dermo on it because of the white/silver sheen to it whilst it was difficult to tell that the other arm had any sun protection on it. With a PPD difference of only 7points I'd just go with the standard 50 + chemical sunblock.
4) Texture - The Dermo was tacky to touch even after waiting half an hour whilst the standard had a moisturized texture but wasn't clammy.
If you're applying sun protection to your body it's important to be able to slip on a silk cardigan without it dragging and you certainly don't want it sticking or absorbing any lotion. Chiffon and the Dermo Pediatrics would be a definite no-go.
Conclusion: Now La Roche Posay have changed their formula, this is really only for super cautious mummies who have children who are very fair and sun sensitive. If you're looking for sun protection against ageing without chemicals, this isn't the way to go unless you want your face to look very unnatural.

One of the best of the LRP sunscreen formulas, I opted to try this as my facial sunscreen. In Canada, this is called Dermo-Kids SPF 45, but the consistency and packaging is the same more or less. The formula is runnier than some sunscreens, but it absorbs quickly, has no scent or white cast, and goes on relatively matte. It doesn't feel oily or greasy. I use a moisturizer oil under this and I don't find it very dry. I haven't found any adverse effects on my skin. It's one of the best sunscreens for face I have tried. LRP is the best of the European sunscreen producers; I already use an adult Anthelios XL version for my body. I also like Avene and recommend it for more sensitive skin types who can't tolerate LRP.

This is similar to the Fluid Extreme except it much more gentle as it doesn't contain alcohol denatured. Easy to apply, absorbs quickly and dries matt. Drier skins shouldn't be put off, just use a hydrating serum underneath (I use C E Ferulic). One of the best LRP formulations. PPD 28. Recommended.

I love the Anthelios line... Dermo-Pediatrics is perfect for my sensitive skin and is superior sun protection.

This is the version with Mexoryl that is not readily available in the US, not the US version that you see in drugstores. Very good body sunscreen. I apply it and let it soak in before putting on clothes. Once it soaks in, it isn't greasy at all and there is no scent and so far, it has never stained my clothes. I'm very fair and it keeps me from tanning and burning. The container could be better, perhaps a squeeze bottle instead of a tube with a flip top because sometimes a little drips if I'm rushing. Why LRP only sells the mediocre version with a low SPF in the US or the higher SPF, but without Mexoryl is a mystery to me.

My face also tolerates this product, but I prefer to use the Fluide Extreme SPF 50+ on my face since in summer time, the Extreme suffices as a daytime moisturizer except in the eye area.

I had good results ordering it from Pharmacymix, but b/c there price is usually the best around, they frequently sell out.
