I, surprisingly, really like this primer! I bought this when my old faithful MAC Painterly Paint Pot no longer worked for me after many years!!! This is a good color that brightens eyeshadow color shades, and my eyeshadow really is staying well all day long. This is very thick, but it is working well for me. I like the packaging, because I don't have to dirty a brush to use it, since I use the applicator to put two dots on each eyelid, then use my finger to spread and thin the primer. However, even two small dots is alot of primer. I also can use it under my eyes as a good concealor, too. I am surprised at how much I like this!

I was surprised to see how much the reviews varied for this. Personally, I liked it. I have been using Too Faced Shadow Insurance for months and since that is so thin, it was an experiment to see how a thicker primer would work for me. I have it in 'Skin' and I love how perfect my lids look after applying. It was the exact color to match my skin. The translucency of Shadow Insurance is one reason I looked for a primer that had a fleshy tint to correct any redness on my lids. I was a little concerned originally about the slight tugging I had to do to cover my lid but I didn't use enough product the first time and tried to spread it too thin. After using a bit more, it spread more easily. I use a wide range of shadows - all brands in shimmers, mattes and foils and I have had no creasing or fading at all. I really couldn't tell the difference between this primer and any others I use, except it was a few bucks cheaper. It could stand to be the tiniest bit thinner and I am a big fan of the squeeze tube of Too Faced as opposed to this method (which is why I never repurchased the Primer Potion from UD), but overall I liked it. The only reason I wouldn't repurchase would be if I were to find something better as I love experimenting with different brands and rarely buy the same thing twice.

Be afraid! I have been using Urban Decay's primer forever, and just felt like trying something new. My best friend bought some, as well. At first, we both loved it. It made my shadow colors really stand out, and lasted a really long time. Fast forward two months. One day, I found that my eyelids were red and itchy. Thinking that my mascara might have become old, I bought some new mascara. Over the next few days, my eyelids actually started peeling! It was horrible. I threw the primer and the shadows that I had been wearing the most away. I had not seen my friend in about a week, when she called and told me that her eyelids were sore and peeling! We figured out that the only product we had in common was this primer. It took over two weeks, and a lot of vitamin E, for our eyes to recover. This product is terrible, and I truly believe, dangerous. I will never again stray from Urban Decay!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this eye primer. I bought this in Sephora and was already excited when I first saw this. I have very oily eyelids and of course, an eye primer is always useful. I have this eye primer in Skin and there is so much product in a small little bottle. My eyeshadow colors on top of this primer lasts for hours and they always make the colors look more vibrant and pop more than they really are. I recommend this to anyone that wears brighter eyeshadows, but it is good for neutrals as well. I've been using this for months and switch back to my Urban Decay Potion Primer once in a while, but I can tell you, this will last you a while!! I used this probably more than 5+ months and I still have a lot in there. The consistency may be thick and sticky, but trust me, if you put a little, a little can go a long way. :)

This eye primer is WONDERFUL. I love it. I have insanely oily skin and my eye makeup doesn't budge when I use this product. I don't like the packaging though. Id rather have a squeeze tube because the lip gloss looking tube and applicator brush isn't ideal, especially then you're running low on product. this makes my eyeshadow pop and doesn't crease or smudge. I would buy this over and over again though. I'm curious to try urban decays primer too though, but I would always go back to this.

I loooove her shadows and wanted to love this primer. But no. No. No. No. Its thick, opaque, and after about two hours my shdow is creased and gross. I give MAC Painterly, UD PP and Too Faced Shadow Ins equal use with good results. My lids are nomal to oily. I used Full Voltage at least 3x trying to figure out a way to make it work for me but in the end, it went back to Sephora. Save your money!!

I'm an eyeshadow primer junkie. I don't know why, considering primer is not that interesting of a product, but I love trying new ones out and seeing how they hold up. As of right now, Lorac primer is my favorite, but I decided to try this out in Skin since I like a lot of other products from Kat's line.
Bottom line, this stuff is horrible. The first thing I noticed was how thick and sticky this is. I like my primers sticky, because then you know they're really giving your shadows/liners/whatever something to adhere to. But this was way too sticky. I have yet to be able to blend it perfectly without it looking splotchy. It actually hurts how much I have to tug at my eyes to blend this. Then, once this is set, I start noticing a ton of flakiness around my eyebrows. A primer should smooth the area you're applying makeup too, not dry it out. It's impossible to get flawless eye makeup with big flaky spots around your eyes.
Since this is so dry, it's hard to blend my makeup. The only thing I can really use with this primer is eyeliner.
On top of all my other problems with this, High Voltage Eye Primer doesn't even prevent creasing or fading! I'll notice my lids looking oily and my shadow creasing within 3 hours of application, and I do not have super oily lids. Even my most vibrant shadows will begin fading around the same time.
Normally, I try to finish up products even if I don't love them because I hate to be wasteful. But this is going straight into the trash. Awful, awful, awful.

I have tried many primers in the past and this is my fave- have tried Skin and Smoky. Before this was using Clinique touch base in light canvas but this blows away the touch base. My eye makeup even lasts till the next day(oops- yes sometimes I don't take it off at night- bad Kitty!) I have also tried the urban decay eye primer and that did not even last as well as the touch base. This product is stellar!

I was very disappointed with this product. I love most of Kat Von D's products, especially the eyeshadows. I wanted to love this product, but it just did not work for me. I did not try the colored ones. It is very nicely packaged, and I love the way it goes on and the color of the shadows is definitely more intense. I suffer from very oily skin and it is a constant battle to try and find products that work for me. After a few hours, my eyeshadows were creased, and eyeliner almost gone. I have found that the only one that works for me is UDPP.

I CANNOT stress enough how completely and utterly in love with this product I am.... This trumps UDPP and TFSI in my book.
I love the fact that this goes on thick, like a cream as apposed to going on like a slick, oily serum. It's like using a paint primer on walls; it sets down a whole new color on your eye instead of going on clear, which makes every shadow you apply- even the crappier DS brands- EXTREMELY vivid and allows the ultimate color pigmentation payoff.
Also, because it is a thicker formula, it does not get broken down through out the day by the natural oils of your eyelid, meaning the color stays ALL DAY LONG! Honestly the best eye primer I've ever tried, and as long as in stays in stock, I will keep on purchasing!

I am surprised by how much I love this. I got the True Love set on Sephora that includes the e/s palette, a lipstick, eyeliner pencil and two versions of this e/s primer. I have not tried the darker one yet, this is a review for the shade "Skin." It applies more like a concealer and this is exactly the reason I am loving it. As other reviewers have noted, it has a grippy texture that really makes even low-end e/s stay all day. I wasn't expecting much, since it was a freebie with the palette, but honestly this is the best product in the set.

I really like this primer-- much better than UDPP. It is denser as many others have described, but I think that is what makes it more "grippy" I also like the clear tube it comes in so you know when you are running low. I have to say, I have had my tube for a looong time. A little goes a long way!

PROS: This primer has become a loved product from pretty much day one. The packaging is cute and practical. You can literally get out every last drop of primer by taking out the clear lip once it is almost empty. The applicator is great for applying the primer. I use the doe foot to smudge the primer across my eye then pat it out until it is applied evenly. I have used the same method with many other primers and this is the first to not crease on my hooded eyelids. Admittedly, this is a thicker primer which is why I love it so. It gives coverage while allowing all eyeshadow to be vibrant and unmovable in extreme weather and hours. I also find this covers, with a light powder, the bags under my eyes better than any concealer I have tried which is a lot...
CONS: This eye primer will not match all skin tones. I am lucky and it happens to be perfect for mine but I wouldn't bother if you are a person with a darker complexion. This primer is also heavier than any primer I have ever used which is why I love it but could also be a huge con for others.
Also, I inherited this primer from a friend who assumed it was the reason the skin on her eyes became dry and irritated (to the point she had to go on medication) but she now believes it might have been a Body Shop product. I think people with dry skin might want to test this product out on other parts before putting on their eyes.
Bottom Line: I love this product but if you a) like light primers b) have darker skin or c) have problems with products reacting with your skin, I would try it out in a Sephora before purchasing a full product.

I haven't seen another reviewer say that they use this in the manner that I do. So I'll add my $0.02. I got this as a sample from Sephora (with an exchange, but that's another story). On it's own or for everyday use, I really don't have much use for this. It's an ok primer as far as preventing creasing, but it's harder to blend than my other primers. It is also very tacky. So, it sat in the back of a drawer for a while... sad and lonely. Then I purchased a Stila eyeshadow in a color I loved, but I couldn't get it to show up on my lids. In desperation, I reached for this. Thinking that maybe the tackiness would grab and hold the eyeshadow better and give me better payoff. BOY DID IT EVER! I love this stuff! This grabs shadows with pigmentation issues, and it helps the glitter and shimmer in some of my eyeshadows to show up more and fall down less. I am going to purchase a full size of this in my next Sephora order. Because, I never want to be without this in my stash!!!

-I first received this as a sample from Sephora- the Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer in "skin" (a nude-beige). I LOVE this stuff. I finally ran out of the sample and had to go get the full size (which is cheaper than other high-end brands and still works great). I have had touch and go eye shadow primers before. I want my shadow to stay put and not line in the crease in my eye at the end of the day.
This stuff creates a matte, smooth nude-skin tone color to start with and also soothes the eye lid and goes on smoothly. It also comes in a pink-beige-pearl (stellar) and in a deep grey (smoky). It does what it says- keeps that shadow in place! One warning though- it is a bit thinner than other thicker primers. I forgot about this and swiped too much on my lids! Just a dab will do and you are set. Enjoy!

I got this as a gift. Seeing as how my other primer was out I gave it a try. It does provide a base that makes colors appear more vibrant, but that's about it. I have used it with various brands of eyeshadows, even kat's ones. It creases and make eyeshadow look muddy after a couple of hours, 3 tops. I'd take hard candy's eye primer over this. I didn't have this problem with udpp or too faced. Going to try something else. Nice packaging though.

I have this in Skin and Smokey and I have a sample size of Stellar. Skin is a yellow based nude color; Smokey is a deep charcoal color; Stellar is a frosty baby pink color. These primers have a very thick consistency and can sometimes tug on the eyelid and be a little hard to blend. However, because they are so thick, they are very opaque and Skin will even out your lid to hid veining and discoloration. I actually like them because they are so thick. I have never had a problem with them creasing because I make sure to apply a thin layer. The Smokey primer I love to use whenever I'm doing a smokey eye. I think these primers are great and I will definately be repurchasing them.

This primer is amazing! When I went to Sephora, I tested this on one of my eyes, and put the Urban Decay Eden Primer Potion on the other. I applied Midnight Cowboy, chock full of glitter, and it did not budge! Not one bit of glitter on my eyes! I had to get it :]

This is super thick which I'm not sure is a good idea for a primer. I tested it against my current primer and I will let you know the creases from my left eye (Kat Von D primer) were ridiculous compared to my right (LORAC) and it wasn't even 3 hours yet. Also, some parts of my shadow seemed brighter than other parts on my lid, a bit disappointed; not recommended.

received a gift card for xmas, and thought i would give this a try. i guess i have very oily eyelids, because this did not last through my 8hr work day. when i went to the bathroom around noon, there was some hardcore creasing going on. i'll give this a couple more tries before bringing it back to sephora &continuing my search for a primer that actually works on my eyes :\ continued >>
