I've been on a hunt for a "signature" perfume ever since i stopped using Lalique's Amethyst years ago (it was wonderful but I decided it was time to outgrow it as my taste in perfume evolved to a whole new level). So, I was lured by this perfume's bottle. It looks unique and pretty. It usually takes much more than a few whiffs for me to decide on which perfume to buy and stick to, but I just got this perfume on an impulse. I wish I had known what I know now. The scent turns out to be extremely generic on me, very "mehh", super ordinary, and candy-ish. Only pro is that this fragrance does get close to the skin and you can smell whiffs of it throughout the day. But it isn't for me, it made me nauseous. I usually like heavy, earthy, and complex fragrances.
Faint and hard to detect from the get-go. Serious sniffing produces a sticky vanilla with citrus and fruit notes and also a medicinal edge that is unpleasant. Overall, nothing to recommend it for me.

This is pretty but forgettable. From the name and (very beautiful) bottle I was expecting a heavy oriental but its sweet, fruity and floral. Two of the top notes are raspberry and blackcurrant and I dont get much else from it, it doesnt seem to have much depth. Its very wearable though and I think it would particularly suit younger women.

First I want to say, be sure if you order this because of the beautiful bottle, that you check to make sure you are getting the right one...I believe the 1 oz doesn't have the silver leaf accents on it, only the bigger bottles, even though most sites picture it with the accents....so I was sorely disappointed when I received mine, in fact so much so that I filed a claim to get a refund...(the beautiful bottle was the prominent factor in my purchase). So, the fragrance was nice, very sweet and I kept thinking it reminded me of something. I finally figured it out today. It smells like RL's Notorious with some raspberry. The fruit aspect makes it much sweeter than Notorious, but it's a nice fragrance...wasn't WOW, but it was still nice. I didn't get the cocoa like mentioned in the other reviews. I got a whole lot of raspberry and black current and sweetness. I would buy this product again, ONLY because I still would like to have the pretty bottle. I'll include a picture of the 1 oz bottle I did get.

Now, I am NOT into foody scents, but I rec'd a sample in a great multiple swap and after one spray, and then it kept changing, finally some caremel, and I don't know what else, sorry, I am so challenged with notes, I was in love. I immediately bought a bottle from the net, getting a pretty good price. When it arrived, I put it in a gift bag and told my husband I was thrilled with the gift he was giving me! I've not even seen the bottle yet! Oh, Santa was so good to me this year.

I loved this soo much I bought a back up!
Staying power could be much better though
But the initial citrusy notes get me each time..
Got this initiall in 30ml, Went back and got it in 50ml...
So I guess I must like it!
The bottle looks soo pretty on my dresser

This fragrance is everything but what I would expect from the bottle and the name - unless oriens means milk chocolate in Latin. After a soft, sweet opening of a floral accord - I don't get any particular flowers- it quickly turns into a soft but noticeable mik chocolate smell with a bit of cocoa oil. It is not cloying, neither does it flourish on my skin. Has good sillage and lasts for 5-6 hours on my skin - yet always giving me the feeling that I am at a threshold after which Oriens will reveal its full potential. Unfortunately, that phase never comes. Of all fragrances this somehow reminds me of Jill Sander's sun delight minus the beachy touch. Sander's fragrance is stronger but perhaps more coarse but I find Oriens too rounded. I am thinking of buying Escada Desire Me instead of this one as I think that chocolate has more character - and even this comparison is weird:)

I have had this fragrance for a few months now but i cant seem to find the right words to express how i feel about it so i'm not going to get up from my computer until this review is done. About all i can say about Oriens is that i detect alot of cocoa. Like cocoa powder you mix with milk to make a chocolate drink. Cocoa powder mixed with delicate little flowers like buttercups and daisies. The bottle is stunning with the big jewel for the cap and a big chunk of round glass that fits in your hand nicely. UPDATE: I'm raising the rating for this perfume from 3 lippies to 5. I love this scent for all the reasons listed above and i noticed another note the other day as i was wearing it. Oranges. Not a loud, huge burst of citursy orange but rather a soft orange....maybe like mandarin oranges.
