I bought this after reading some reviews. I have finally determined that my problem child scalp & hair (oily scalp, dry ends and color treated) was also offended by 'cones. I need something cone-free and sulfate-free. I had a coupon, so tried this one out and am very pleased with the results, even with my hard water. Here's how it performed on the items I needed: color care, scalp care and hair condition.
1. color care: my color had started to fade but since I began using this product, has stayed steady with no additional fading.
2. scalp care: the oiliness is somewhat reduced, the itching and clogged follicles have also reduced down dramatically.
3. hair condition: my hair is no drier on the ends than before, and has actually looked and felt better overall and requires less product than before. This shampoo definitely needs a conditioner as it can make hair feel dry and knotty after using, but overall, hair seems to stay in good condition longer.
It is a bit pricey for me, near the $10 range, but the bottle is large and has barely moved in the 3 weeks since I started using it, so a little does go a long way. I also have not had to use a clarifying shampoo since purchasing this either. continued >>

Finally I found a decent shampoo for my sensitive scalp, and it makes my highlighted, fine hair soft and gives it some body. It's definitely my new favorite, and is like the ABBA color care shampoo, but paraben free and less expensive. I got this on sale at Pharmaca for $6.99. It doesn't seem to make my neck break out which has been a problem for me in recent years. I love how Pureology makes my hair look, but it always breaks me out. This is not quite as good as Pureology, but I would say it gives me pretty good hair days all the time, and maybe some really good hair days depending on the effort I put in. I tend to switch shampoos daily due to irritated scalp and I was able to use this for three or four days in a row with no problem. I think maybe the aloe in the formula is soothing. I'm very happy to have found a paraben free shampoo that delivers. I've been impressed with the YTC products I've tried so far.

I LOVE this shampoo and conditioner. I used Redken Color Extend for years until a change in finances a year ago made it unaffordable for me. Since then I have tried every "drug store color" shampoo under the sun with disappointing results.
I just bought this shampoo and conditioner last week and it is now my HG drug store shampoo. Makes my highlights pop and my hair smooth, shiny, and manageable.
The packaging is not great, but it's not terrible. I haven't had any problems with the caps. The smell is ok. Again, not great, but not terrible either.
I am most happy with how fantastic my hair looks after using it. I haven't had this kind of result since I stopped using the Redken.

My hair is fried. I have moved to a country where blonde= duckling yellow, so I am now doing it myself. The condition is a mess, but I'm happy with the colour. Win some/lose some.
This shampoo is in a HUUUUUGE bottle, so I'm happy with the price.
It doesn't irritate and it doesn't make it worse.
It has no silicones, so my hair doesn't look like a natural disaster.
I find that treatments work better when your hair is not weighed down by silicones, so I may have some effect on the condition over time.
Considering the choice here is limited, I will be coming back to this product again and again!

I use the combo of shampoo and conditioner of the Cucumber line. I have to say, my hair is in a very bad condition, because of a harmful dying process and these products could not cure my over processed hair.
This shampoo made my hair feel light and didn't irritate my sensitive scalp. I give it a 4 because it didn't moisturize my color treated hair and it has chemical fragrance in it which is bad for the body and my nose didn't like it either.
Edit 5-2011: I lower my rating to 3, because this shampoo is too drying.
All together the Yes to Cucumbers line is disappointing, very average and not that 'Organic' and safe all together.

Not a fan of the new formula or scent. I had been using this shampoo for a long while and loved it. After spending lots of money trying every brand out there, I had finally found a product that could smooth out my color treated, wavy, dry hair. With the old formula, I almost didn't even need to use conditioner. Now, with the new, I find my hair is really tangled and hard to comb out. Even with using the old formula YTC conditioner, it's a lot dryer and tangled. Since a reviewer of the YTC conditioner mentioned they've taken out the wheat germ oil, I'm afraid to even try it. It's a shame the formula was changed so quickly.
The scent now has a plasticky smell similar to a lot of the shampoos that containing a lot of silicone.

This shampoo is fantastic. It leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean but not stripped of moisture. My roots have more volume to them than they did with the Alba Gentle Nourishing Shampoo (also sls, silicone and paraben free), and my hair is left soft and shiny. There isn't any leftover residue, just nice clean hair. The shampoo smells like a plastic cucumber, but the smell doesn't last on my hair, so no worries. My hair isn't color-treated but thumbs up from me!

Love the smell! Leaves my hair shiny and clean. No greasy feeling yet helps balance moisture. I use henna/indigo on my hair so I can't speak for how it works on my colored hair but my mother has colored hair and loves it! She said no fading or drying out.

I'm looking for the perfect organic shampoo and unfortunately this wasn't it for me. It made my scalp really dry and feeling a bit irritated. Something in it is a bit too strong (not sure what ingredient it is)...but I find if I mix it with a milder shampoo it does the trick.

I love this shampoo! A lot better than the matching conditioner ^-^ The shampoo feels like silk as I lather (and it lathers pretty well for me), but it doesn't weigh down my hair. It rinses clean and my hair feels refreshed. The shampoo smells great and I love the ingredients. My only gripe is the bottle I got had a weird lid to it, where you can only get a little bit out at a time. The nice part is, I only have to use a tiny amount each time I wash my hair, whereas the matching conditioner I have to use a TON to feel any sort of difference. I bought the shampoo at Bi-Mart for $7 dollars, and I would definitely buy this shampoo again.

I LOVE this shampoo, and the conditioner is also fantastic, highly recommended!
For people that like to avoid SLS, this shampoo contains Sodium Coco Sulfate, which is NOT damaging at all. It isn't very drying, either. I don't use shampoo very often, but when I do, I tend to use this (about once to twice a week), and it cleans all the build-up very well, plus it smells fabulous! You get an enormous bottle for 8-10 dollars, which seems expensive, but it lasts forever as you really don't need a whole lot of it per shampoo session. It lathers very well, and doesn't dry the hair out.
I think this would be great for people that are sensitive to perfume-y smells, or people that like to avoid harsh chemicals. The ingredients are pretty good for a shampoo, mostly natural/ organic. It has a lot of moisturizing ingredients as well. I don't know that it would work very well for someone with oily hair, but it works great for damaged/ dry hair. I think it's probably the best shampoo that I've ever used, and I am not one to spend more than $3 on shampoo. This is totally worth the money; you definitely get your money's worth. I love Yes to Cucumbers!!

I like this. It's SLS free, but not sulphate free. I found that it can be a bit drying, but I do like it and rotate it with others. The smell is really nice and I found that when used with the matching conditioner, it does linger a bit. This has been reformulated and the scent is more cucumbery on the new formulation.

The main reason I bought it is because it's SLS- and silicone free and because of the impressive ingredients list. The shampoo lathers up well (unlike some SLS free shampoos) and it smells nice and fresh. It does a good job at cleaning my hair too.
The price is very decent. It cost me 6 euros and the bottle is HUGE (half a liter).
