I am always getting sucked into Too Faced products by the packaging then disappointed once I actually use the product. This lip primer is another product that fails to deliver. It did not act as a primer on my lips and in fact, dried out my lips.

Just awful. I can't stand the way it feels on my lips and then add the fact that it changes the appearance of lipsticks well that adds up to an epic fail from me. I'm returning this and trying Urban Decay's or Guerlain's instead.

unless i buy a more expensive brand, lipstick NEVER stays on me until i found this! i just put a small amount on my lips and after it dries you would never notice it, then apply lipstick and it stays on for hours. only 2 problems: the packaing, i wish Too faced would have made this like the made the shadow insurance - once it starts to run out theres no way to get it out of the tube! secondly, my lips did start to feel dry after a while (although this could also have been the lipstick)

This product sucks any and all moisture out of my lips. I am disappointed with this product. I was looking for something to stop my lipstick from feathering, and maybe add a little staying power. It did neither. I would not recommend this lip primer.

This is an Ok product. It holds lipstick into place for a few hours (for a red lipstick more than five-seven eating included), but unfortunately it is a bit mattifying and dries out lips.

I love this product. Sometimes it is a bit drying, but it smoothes out my lips and they feel like velvet. Holds lipstick all day!

For me, this did help to hold my lip color in place and make it more vibrant. However, I've also noticed that it doesn't help prevent feathering and it dries the crap out of my lips. I was looking for an alternative to MAC's Prep and Primer for lips because I use so much of it and have to buy 2 or 3 a month. I'm taking this back to Sephora.

Agree with not so good reviews in here but here is the trick: don't use it directly over your lips, instead of that, just pat it on them with your ring finger only a few touch ups and your lips will be ready to wear your gloss/lipstick.
Anyway, it's smoothy but not yet moisturizing. It will dry your lips for sure, so there goes another trick: put a thin layer of your favourite lip balm first and wait a few minutes to pat on lip insurance. I personally use Elizabeth Arden's 8 hours specially on the inside line of my lower lip where I get skins and it works amazingly well. Won't repurchase however due to it's drying effect despite long lasting results.

Very cute packaging. Without checking out reviews on here I bought it on a whim because of the packaging. (I'm a sucker for esthetics). I sort of needed a lip primer because my lips are always flaky and unexfoliated so my lips always have a couple dead skin patches and so the promise of smoother lip makeup application and long wear seemed like a dream. I almost feel like this product is a gimmick. This did nothing for the longevity of my lipstick and the unevenness was still there. I also notice time and time again that this product dries out my lips like no other. UGH. terrible product. Only give it a 1 for the cute, simple, robin blue container.

I picked this up on a whim because it was reduced to £8 on the ASOS website and I just put it in the basket along with a larger order because I had a discount. It's described as a 'smoothing, anti-feathering lip primer' and I was attracted because I thought that it might be an easy (and lazy) alternative to going out and buying a lip-liner for the different shades of lipstick I'm slowly amassing (new lipstick convert :D). I honestly haven't found that it much fulfils its anti-feathering promises. Whenever I wear lipstick over it without liner it feathers just as crazily as it would with no primer at all. Having said that, it definitely does create a smooth surface for the lipstick to glide over, and provided there isn't TOO much messy eating/drinking/kissing going on, it anchors colour there quite well. With lipgloss it's a bit more useful, and they tend to go on a little less sheer so that the colour pops more, which, for me, is good. But for £14.50 (it's retailing price at Boots.com and others) it just isn't worth it for me and I wouldn't buy again. It is a good primer though, and if your cosmetics budget is unlimited then go for it - there are just better things I could spend my money on.

I bought this product because I needed something to help my existing lipsticks and glosses retain more staying power. The SA at my local Ulta store seemed to have no idea what to recommend for this stated need.
I found this item in the store on my own, and when I asked the SA if this would work, she shrugged and said, "Guess so." Well, she apparently guessed wrong.
This product does feel pleasant when applied to the lips, smoothing but not moisturizing, if that makes sense. However, this did nothing to help my lip color stay put. It seemed to wear off just as easily as if I had used nothing -- I expected some payoff at least.
At least I was able to return this to the store and get a refund -- but I would not recommend purchasing and I will not rebuy this product again. It's too bad because I really like other products by Too Faced.

I was really excited to try this because I love Too Faced products and was hoping I would love this as much...didn't have such luck. After the primer sets the dryness is uncomfortable and turns my lips completely white. Lipstick does last longer but makes your lips look dehydrated even with gloss on. I hate this product

I recently tried this product 2 days ago and have found it to work very well. As you are aware, NYX round lipsticks don't last that long on your lips, but since using the too faced lip insurance primer, the lipstick actually lasted longer than it normally would without the primer.
all i can say is, excellent packaging, cute lipgloss tube, and it feels so smooth and velvety on your lips. It actually kind of seals cracks on your lips.

Didn't work for me. It did everything it claimed not to. It feathered horribly and I can't even describe the way it feels when you put it on your lips. I couldn't even put my lipstick on top of it, I had to take the lip insurance off. That's how hideous it was. I'll stick to my Urban Decay primer instead.

I like this primer very much! It's the first primer I tried, but I'm very satisfied.
I use this primer on lipstick that I don't have a matching lipliner with (I usually fill my lips with a liner to hold the lipstick longer). It makes my lips smooth, and it doesn't dry. Keeps lipstick on for ages. I was wearing a Maybelline lipstick on it, and my friend asked wich lipstick I was wearing, because it stayed on so long! But it was the lipstick insurance that did the job.

TFLI makes my lipsticks feel way more matte. I can actually feel the primer grabbing my lipstick as I apply. I noticed this with MAC Creme Cup which ususally applies smoothly, but realllly noticed it with NARS Schiap.
I would not recommend this product for a lipstick that you tend to dab on your lips for a bit of color, since the color does not apply smoothly over this product (due to the grabbing nature of the primer).
Over all I do think it helps lipstick and gloss stay on, but it had the tendency to dry your lips a lit. I would purchase thi product again, because I feel it does what it says it does--helps your lipcolor stay on longer.

I've been hearing so much about Lip Insurance from my friends as of late, and I was looking for something to not only keep my lips from fading, but feathering and smudging as well. I must admit, I expected it to dry out my lips, but nothing could be further from the truth. It provided an amazing base, did the job promised and didn't dry out my lips at all! It wasn't sticky or tacky, either. I will definitely be buying this again.

Great lip primer. I've been using MAC P+P for years and this one is much better. A tad less convenient since it's a doe-foot applicator rather than lip balm form. Applies like a liquidy gel (I actually find that too much product comes out initially and I have to wipe off excess on the inside of the tube). Dries down in a couple minutes and then ready for you to apply liner/color. Helps prevent my lips from drying out, keeps color longer, and lips feel smooth.
Still want to try out other lip primers but this one's quite good and I would repurchase.

Overall, this stuff is fantastic! I purchased this expecting it to be a return. I've tried so many products that claim to be lip primers that are used before lipstick/liner. None of them worked. I've usually stuck to she laq/dupes or drugstore long wear lipsticks for when I need all day wear without touch ups.
This stuff claims to keep your lipstick on while serving as a moisturizer. I will say - this does live up to both claims. My lips are significantly less flaked/cracked than usual. The package claims this is a nude cream that you apply - actually it is white to clear. White on the doe foot applicator, clear on your lips. I do think enough comes out that you do not need to double dip. One coat is enough for my upper and lower lips. I put this on, and then my lip liner. You need to be very careful because if you make a mistake, you wont be getting this off - a lot like long wear lipsticks. Ive used this with Revlon matte and my lips felt a little caked - but I expected that since the mattes are drying. I've tried it with Mayb. Color Sensational, and it works, but for some reason it becomes a little cakey/clumpy feeling on the lips.
This stuff has felt perfect with my Vincent Longo fore plush lippy. VL is very creamy and this reduced it to the perfect texture where I pretty much forgot I had lipstick or treatment on. I've eaten through stuffed peppers and rice, pasta, etc and I didn't need to touch up.
I love this stuff because it wont peel off like long wear lipsticks/she laq(if you've worn colorstay or another type you know what I mean!!)
My one con (hence not 5 stars) is that this will break down a bit with oily foods such as pizza or a really buttered bagel... but, that is expected since you do need an oil based waterproof makeup remover to get the product off. Depending on how you chew, the lipstick is salvageable, since I've only noticed running/feathering with oily foods at the corners of my mouth.
I am also concerned with the package - it poses the same issue as UDPP. I'll have to cut this open eventually.
