I have brittle nails and they got worse when I peeled off my gel manicure instead of getting them removed professionally.
I had the CG Calcium Gel Fortifier, so I thought I'd go try their Nail Strengthener. I followed the suggested application method with 1 exception. I applied every other day, did not apply nail polish over and removed everything with nail polish remover after a week and restarted the process. I did not apply cuticle oil, but tried to apply hand cream and massage into my cuticles whenever I could. I continued my usual routine (washing up, etc).
After 2 weeks, as I saw visible nail growth, I could see that my nails were split quite badly. I felt that it did not help my problem of splitting nails, hence I decided to cut short the treatment. After googling, I am currently trying to hydrate my nails as my splitting nails could be due to the nails being too dry.
Did it work for me? No. Was it because I 'mis-diagnosed' my problems and therefore the solution? Very possible. Hence, I wouldn't say this doesn't work at all, only it didn't work in my case.
I really love this treatment. It has really helped fix my flaky/brittle nail tips.
I really like the way it treats my nails and gives them strength. I feel like they grow faster too. You can't apply a polish over it and it peels really fast and easy. But I still think it's a great product.
I've had this nail strengthener for 3 days and have had to re-do my nails each day since I purchased it. It makes the nails really hard after applying (that's why I give it 2 lippies) but it peels off my nails ridiculously. No good. Also, the instructions state: "Apply two coats to clean, bare nails every other day for four weeks. Do not apply lacquer over this coating. For best results, use with Orange Cuticle Oil." First of all, why all that work for stronger, longer nails? Second, I see why you can't put any colored nail polish on since it peels within a day of application. Third, how are you gonna use this with oil if it peels so easily? I guess that's why they want you to reapply so frequently, starting from scratch.
Needless to say, I will not buy this again. I'm not even sure I will keep this bottle I have now. I will try to use it again one more time, and if it still sucks then I will return it and drop the lippies down. *sigh* Back to Nail Envy I go...
