Works great but is not "sheer" so paler ladies, stay away. I have very dry skin and this product sets my makeup but does not make me look cakey or overly dry. If I'm going to apply moisturizer, foundation, and set it with a powder, why not use products that each have SPF in it? This happens to be a good, cheap, & high SPF powder but only if you have a darker skintone or can stand the "sheer" color it puts on.
---------------------
SUN PROTECTION: I'm not sure about the reviewer who claims it does not protect against UVA rays because the packaging clearly states "UVA/UVB Protection". Perhaps they have reformulated it or something but it has both Titanium Dioxide (21.25%) and Zinc Oxide (17%) in fairly large quantities.
---------------------
COLOR: My MAJOR problem with this powder is that it is NOT translucent. I used it in the summer when I was a bit darker and even then, it noticeably added a pink/orange tone to my skin (NC20). My head definitely looked like it was separate from my neck--oompa loompa indeed!. For me, it was like a bronzing powder even when I applied a sheer layer.
---------------------
TEXTURE: I think the powder itself is nicely milled & did not leave my face powdery or cakey looking. I even feel like it left a slight sheen, not shimmers or glitters, but definitely not a flat powder. I really liked that about this powder because I could set my makeup & get SPF protection all without a flat matte look.
---------------------
CONCLUSION: Overall, I think this product is a good setting powder with an added perk of giving you decent SPF if you have a darker skintone. continued >>

I absolutely LOVE this product. I have rather oily skin as well as large pores so this product help matte-ify my face and fill in the pores. I can't complain about the tone because it does fit my shade and I'm rather orange toned to begin with. It also claims to have UVA/UVB protection which is a plus too! Definitely purchasing again.

FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY !!!
In other words, this is not a full spectrum (board spectrum) sun-screen.
There is absolutely nothing in this product that protects the skin from
UVA, the 21.25% of Titanium Dioxide will potect the skin from UVB only.
The short term advantage is that the skin is less likely to burn but it will not shield against the UVA which penetrate much deeper and contribute to skin cancer & premature aging & age spots.
I am NC 30-35 and have no problem with the sheer matte coverage of this product. I do not like to get tanned nor do I adore being tanned, depending on the weather my sunscreen ranged from 30-60.
Canada does not allow this kind of product being promoted as sunscreen & I believed next year the U.S. will have the same banned as well.
Yes, I will re-purchase this product for its matte quality & UVB protection as long as it is layered with a board spectrum sunscreen underneath. continued >>

I bought this to keep in my purse to reapply sunscreen to my face during the summer months, without messing up my makeup.
The only other SPF powder I've found (At drugstore prices) was one by Physician's Formula. (Although I couldn't find it at my Wal Mart, and it retails for about $12)
I heard a lot of bad reviews about this, but decided to try it anyway, since I'm a huge ELF fan.
I really like this! I don't know how this color would work if you had very fair skin, or very dark skin, but if you're medium skin toned, this will most likely work for you.
The color has a sort of pink tone to it, but it really did blend in well.
I used it over ELF Studio tinted moisturizer in Nude.
The only negative to this product is the puff that comes with the powder is useless for applying the powder. The only real purpose it serves is to hold the powder in the container, because if you take it out-the powder will get everywhere!
But with a retractable powder/kabuki brush and this in my purse, I'm good to go.
Will definitely purchase this again!
It costs about the same as sunscreen, but it won't mess up your makeup, and IS makeup.
I would love to see ELF combine the translucent aspect of the HD Powder with the SPF of this powder, and we'd have an amazing product.

i really wanted to like this, but its a no go for me.
Pros:
- spf 45 (21% titanium dioxide, 17% zinc oxide)
- soft finish
- no problems with color. i'm NC25-30 and a light dusting of this powder didn't wash me out/turn orange/have a grey cast/etc. powder looks tinted, but was pretty much translucent on me
- price is super cheap, especially if you get it 50% off
Cons:
- after about 1 hour, my skin started getting dry and flaky!! i recently completed a cycle of Accutane, so my skin has become significantly less oily. maybe this would work for the more oily gals?

First off, dont buy this if you are lighter than NC30. This powder has a tint that can't be ignored. I think this is probably a NC35 color but since it's sheer I can get away with it (i'm NC30). Second don't buy this as your sunscreen, I dont think thats the idea. This will give you only extra protection so dont rely on it for sun protection.
I LOVE this powder because it gives me a nice airbrushed but undone look. You cant see it on my skin but you can see the difference. It just evens out my skin on those days I dont feel like wearing foundation but I want to look good enough to go out of the house. The staying power is not there so it's defenitly not like a foundation. It is also great to set liquid foundation or to mattify the skin for touch ups.

This is a great product. I love using it as a setting powder and knowing I have that extra SPF coverage all in one. I still used a standard SPF 35 under my foundation too. It doesn't have a strong smell of an SPF. I would say the only draw back to this product is the packaging - it's terrible. Yes, it looks nice but the practicality of it is no good. It gets the product everywhere when you twist the lid open and close, because it's shaped square, but the seal is circular. I do like that the sifter has wide enough wholes that a fair amount of product is released. Overall, it's a nice product and I recommend it. I don't care about the mess it makes cause it's brilliant. :)

I bought this before the 50% off sale, and I'm stocking up now that it's on sale, because I love it!
I can see why you would hate it if it's not your shade, but it was perfect for mine. I use it as a spf powder to set my Neutrogena healthy skin liquid foundation. It sets to a fabulous texture like a cream-to-powder foundation that's soft and delicate. It's really easy to apply, too, just shake some powder out with the lid on, then use a kabuki brush to pat it over my face. For the record, I'm Asian with skin the color of Michelle Yeoh's.

Unlike the other reviewers I actually like this product. First off it's dirt cheap, $3.00, it comes in a standard black container with a sifter and a little puff that is nothing special but gets the job done. I agree that this is definitely not sheer! However, I guess I'm just the right shade (NC25) that it just about matches my skintone. I'm actually using this as a summer foundation. I just put a little concelor on any blemishes, undereye area, and redness and then pat this stuff on. It provides just enough coverage to even out my skintone but is finely milled enough that it doesn't look like I'm wearing anything. Also with a primer it doesn't slide off my face like tinted moisturizers and lighter foundations are prone to do in the deep south in summer (damn you humidity!!). I can see how this wouldn't work for anyone lighter than me, and as for the spf I've never burnt with it on but I wear an spf 50 moisturizer daily too. I guess I give this points as a good face powder/light powder foundation and not really as a sunscreen.

Oh how I was looking forward to this powder. I am very sensitive to the sun and have to wear sunscreen anytime I am outside. First off this is NOT sheer it is orange. The sencond issue is. Just don't feel like you can get reliable protection from this in order for the physical barrier to work you would have to put so much on that you would look like an umpa lumpa. Great idea but no.

I'm not sure if it was just me, but I did not feel that this product gave me sun protection. I normally place on sunscreen as a daily ritual. However, when I went snowboarding, I decided to use this product instead. Unfortunately, I had a little bit of a burn on my face for a day. I really do not recommend this product, nor will I ever repurchase this. I really wish this item worked better though.

The lousy packaging annoyed me, but the bottom line is that this powder, in a color called "Sheer", is unusably orange. If I use it like a regular powder, the orange just deepens over the course of the day, and I don't know how else to use it.
Great idea, but it's back to a regular sunscreen moisturizer for me.

This powder sunscreen is from ELF's studio line. First, the packaging. It comes in the same packaging as the HD powder, the big, clunky black package that is only actually half full of product when you open this. I hate this packaging! It would be ideal to buy two items then collapse them into one to save space. But this bulky thing has to sit on top of my vanity (stacked on top of the HD powder) because it's too clunky to fit in my drawer or organizer! Anyway, on to the actual product: This says you can use it alone, under makeup or over makeup. I can't imagine you would get any SPF coverage over makeup, and I find it leaves a flat finish. I used it in place of my regular sunscreen before makeup. It's just okay. The pros: it's not greasy like some sunscreens, I can buff it into my skin. I prefer sunscreens with a high zinc oxide content as this seems to be a good mattifier for my oily skin (like Shiseido SPF). This has a high zinc oxide content at 17% and a titanium dioxide content of 21.25%. However, I find this does not mattify my skin at all and for some reason I just don't feel like I'm getting enough sunscreen coverage. This is really cheap so I recommend giving it a try if you like it. Me? I'm going to just repurchase my pricey Shiseido.
