Hi guys, I've been using Careprost for almost a week now but my eyes are getting red and itchy. I am a little confused on how to use it since the website I got it from, mylashes4less states that I should pour few drops into the base of the bottle cap and then dip the eyeliner brush into the cap. But now, after reading some reviews here, it should be applied directly to the brush then eyelid to avoid contamination. Please help, I need professional advise to avoid all these side effects! I stopped using it for awhile due to the redness and itchiness ;(((
I am currently on my 12th week on Careprost. I have never used Latisse or any other eyelash product. I have not experienced any darkening of my eyelids or my irises (I have brown eyes).
Here are some tips:
- Purchase micro applicators that are used for dental procedures or eyelash extensions because it uses the product very efficiently. I was able to extend one bottle (3 mL) for 2.5 months and I used Careprost every day (1 drop) for my eyelashes and eyebrows! (Note: I bought mine on Ebay for under $5 and there are 100 applicators - just throw it out after each use and it keeps a tab that you are using Careprost everyday)
- During the daytime put on vaseline or castor oil on your eyelashes to keep them hydrated. I noticed that 2 months into using Careprost my eyelashes were not as lustrous and shiny (I assume since my "old" eyelashes aren't falling off so they go through more wear and tear).
I noticed more of a difference in my eyebrows because I have sparse hair at the head of my eyebrows (genetically not because of over tweezing) from the beginning (1.5 months in). Now at 3 months I do note a significant increase in length in my eyelashes and increased volume especially at the outer corners. The most drastic change of course is after applying mascara since I have more lashes to work with. I am receiving a lot more compliments about my lashes. Additionally, I can apply 2 coats of mascara opposed to 3 coats of mascara for the same effect now that I have more lashes. This means saving time in the morning and less clumpy lashes look. I would defiantly recommend Careprost.
There's a lot of advertisement on MakeUpAlley on where to purchase Careprost. I suggest that everyone does their research and compares prices because shipping internationally adds up. I was able to purchase 3 bottles of Careprost $55 (USD) with free shipping to Canada twice. Unfortunately, that website has been down for the past 3 weeks, but luckily I still have 4 bottles as back ups.
I was a user of Smartlash then moved to Revitalash, then Bimat then tried Latisse and now Careprost. Unfortunately, only Latisse and Careprost worked for me. But since Careprost is way cheaper I decided to use that instead. I'm on my 6th month and so far so good. I am seeing good results even after transitioning to Careprost. I buy from lifetime lashes since they are local and gave me professional advise on using retin-a or the generic version of that.
I'm starting to apply Careprost on my eyebrows hopefully it works as great! ;)
Sad that I had to quit using this because it did work for awhile. I started using name brand about 2 years ago and it worked wonders! Switched to the generic about a year later and it worked equally well. My lashes, which are normally short and thin, were long, dark, and luscious! People at work actually thought that I had false eyelashes! THE PROBLEM: This has quit working for me. About 6 months ago I noticed that my lashes were returning to normal. I thought that maybe I needed to take a bit of a break. I stopped for a week, started applying again every night and...nothing. Maybe it was the bottle I had? I bought Latisse in case it was a problem with the generic version I had and...nothing. Nothing as far as eyelash growth that it. The whites of my eyes were red all of the time and Visine didn't help. My eyelids started to darken and turned a purply sort of reddish colour and the dark circles under my eyes increased drastically. Drastically! I stopped using this about a week ago and the redness and purple hue around my eyes is starting to fade. The amount of concealer and lid primer that I was having to use to cover up the darkness just wasn't worth it. I might try this again in the distant future but for right now, I'll just have to stick with a good mascara.
I ordered my first 2 bottles of Careprost from reading reviews here in MUA. So I'm here now to make a review about the product and it's pros and cons.
Careprost is an amazing product. I was very pessimistic about using it on my eyelids after reading the side effects. But in the end, it was all worth it!
1st Week - I had redness on my eyes, when I contacted where I got it from. They didn't respond at all. So I contacted a different online supplier. Crystal from crystalbeauty101 said that it might have been due to unwashed applicator or I was applying too much. So I became very careful with the application.
2nd week - Redness went away but still a little itchy. I was worried but kept going. After few days, itchiness just went away by itself.
3rd-7th Week - very minimal results were showing.
11th week - Whooaaahhhh... I know it sounds like I woke up one day with nice long and thick lashes! But my lashes are darn amazing! With the help of mascara, they show more volume and thickness! People from work really think I'm using fake lashes. That's how great this product is.
I'm on my 4th month and I still can't get over the fact that there's really a breakthrough like Careprost. I also highly recommend Crystal Beauty 101 because without constant advise from Crystal I wouldn't have continued.
Careprost promised that in 4 months, if you follow the simple steps, you will see great results! So far for me, this product kept its promise :)))
If you're considering an eyelash growth enhancer that won't bring tears to your eyes (I'm talking about the price!) try Careprost. It is far cheaper than Latisse but, as I've discovered through using it, you have to be patient. I've been using it for seven months and have got through about 4 bottles so far by using it before going to bed. It's been slow to show results in my case but I'm a redhead and my lashes were very sparse and fair. Since I've been using it my lashes are definitely thicker, darker and longer. I used to have to load my lashes with mascara before I discovered Careprost. Now I just give them a light coat otherwise I look like Aunt Sally in Worzel Gummidge!! I can recommend PharmacyGeoff as a supplier. It takes up to 2 weeks to arrive from online order as it comes from the US but it's only around £15 plus p&p. I'm really happy with the results!
When I first started using Careprost, I had slightly bloodshot eyes for a couple of weeks. I stuck it out because I couldn't wait to see my new, super long lashes! The side effect lessened and my lashes were growing beautifully for about 3 months.
I received lots of compliments and was really impressed, especially seeing as Careprost is so much cheaper than Latisse... I sometimes woke up with my eyes a little red, but this was only once a week or so, and eye drops helped.
However, after around 6 months of daily use, my lashes started to fall out. First it was just one or two when I removed my mascara (even very carefully) then I noticed a bald patch on my left eye. I was worried and decided to stop using it.
6 weeks or so later, my lashes are returning to their normal length. I still have a few long ones left (woohoo!) and the bald patch is recovering, albeit very slowly.
I had eyelash extensions put in for my brother's wedding and was super sad to see them go. So when I heard about careprost, I had to check it out.
So. I'll update as I go.
Started with nubby and thinned out eyelashes due to my extensions. Right eye is worse than the left.
Had a couple nights of dry eyes. No other side effects.
Still get dry eyes some nights. Missed 1 night of application due to food poisoning. Applied mascara and you can see the fullness in my left lashes, where as my right are still sparse. But, I'm noticing that there are shorter lashes interspersed between longer ones, so I' m assuming it's the careprost trying to grow the lashes I ripped out with my extensions. Yay!!!!
So I think I see a difference. But it could be me really really wanting to see something.
I love this product. I always get compliments on my lashes. When I am talking with people they keep staring at my eyes and then finally ask if those are really my lashes. I started of with Latisse the first time but when it was time for a new bottle I had to research.Through many reviews and sites found that many people switched to this product because of the price.I decided to give Careprost a shot. After 4 weeks, I see definite results! Length is coming back, lashes hold their curl and I'm growing more lashes. Results are just like Latisse in my opinion. The ONLY setback is the whites of my eye ball are a little bloodshot. I'm very careful to apply only to lashline, but something is aggrivating my eyes. I just use a little visine and its better. Totally not enough of a problem to make me stop. I love this stuff! Already placed my second order. :http://www.taraskincare.net/Careprost_Bimatoprost_Ophthalmic_Solution_p/12346.htm, and Fast Shipping only 2 days to my door.
11/26: My lashes continue to flourish! To someone impatient or expecting immediate false lash looking lashes, it may not be much, but I am so thankful at how nice my lashes are coming along and cooperating with this product. My favorite thing is that I am growing new lashes, to fill in any gaps that I had before. Yes, they are getting longer but they haven't reached that sweet spot that everyone raves about yet. I am purging items out of my stash to begin saving for my next order of careprost. I would rather part with many, many things than be without this. My eyes are still kind of red and my dark circles are still looking darker, but no one notices or cares all that much. My lashes have never been this healthy looking. My only complaint is how small the bottle is, the dropper is meh, and it does seem to go quickly. I have plenty left, I'm just anxious about having to reorder. My lashes are more curled, btw. Even without mascara, my lashes look more pronounced against my deeper set eyes.
11/17: Hi! I just wanted to remind you girls with downturned eyes to be careful with the application! Today I was having a weeeeird sensation like there was a hair stuck in my eye, and man...this stuff WORKS because there are LASHES growing on the very outer outer corners of my upper eyelid, and two or three were stuck in my eye!! :P I had to fish em out! Now to some of you ladies this would be scary or something, but I have NEVER had lashes grow in those places. And these weren't little stubs just coming in... it seems these new lashes had just snuck up on me outta nowhere! I'm pleased, to say the least. Yeah having lashes stuck in my eye sucked, but this is awesome! I'm growing NEW lashes. This is nothing short of a miracle! It has been a little over two weeks. I received the product in the mail on Nov 1st. Now it may be me, because I'm that girl who will shave her legs and have stubble the next AFTERNOON, will pluck her brows and have to pluck em AGAIN in a few days... Maybe my hair grows faster than most...who knows!? But I sure can't wait to see the super long length you ladies are raving about. For now, I'm thrilled at the extra frills being added to my outer corners, where my eyes need the most LIFT. :D
Hi goils! I'm leavin' a review for now, I'm into my second week of using this stuff. I'll let ya know my experience as far as the side effects and everything goes. More updates to come.
*****UNIMPORTANT YET RELEVANT INFO IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START**** My first issue was all the reviews on this page written by accounts with no activity except a single review, registered recently, logged in only once or not at all since leaving the review. Every one of these reviews were a vendor promotion, and I was terrified of ordering from a site that didn't take Paypal, or even worse, had fake, watered down or expired Careprost. It took me the longest time to finally buy the stuff even though I really wanted to because I just didn't know which site would be alright to buy from. One lady here on Makeupalley had it for like $45 PLUS shipping, and while that would have been 100% safe since everyone recommends her site, I knew I could get it cheaper elsewhere. I ended up just biting the bullet on Grow Lovely Lashes. It was like $35 shipped IIRC.
Like I said, I'm only into my second week and I'm already experiencing some side effects. Namely itchy lashline, "scaly" or "bumpy" lashline, reddened eyelids and it might be just me, but yeah, my dark circles do seem a little worse too (surprisingly, none of this bothers me... Armani Master Corrector #2 and Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly are working well as always!)
The itching is only mildly annoying and no one notices or cares about the rest. Doesn't affect my makeup application or anything.
The reason some ladies are experiencing itchy lashline and darker dark circles is because of blood vessel stimulation! This stuff circulates blood to the eye like mad. Obviously, hereditary dark circles will be worsened by this! The purple-blue hue you see is your blood vessels or somethin' like that! And do you know what happens when blood circulates in the scalp or anywhere else? HAIR GROWTH! That's why your lashes are comin' in so nice ladies :D
I *think* I see new growth, It seems like I have a few nice hairs coming in riiiiiiight above my lashline. One thing I'm pleased with...my lashes aren't coming out at ALL. I've lost maybe ONE since using this. Usually, two a week will fall out. I use mascara almost every single day, usually layering multiple formulas together, and SOMETIMES with those big bulky Essence lash powder fibers. Brutal! Yet my lashes remain :)
I'm excited and pleased! Nothing big happening, just thought I'd warn y'all about the fake reviews and just giving my first impressions. I only wish this stuff didn't come in a dropper. :(
