I am very pale, and have a fair amount of red in my skin, which means that I have to be careful when selecting a red lipstick. This color is the absolute best! It's smooth, creamy, and it's a lustre color, which means you can wear it sheer or layer it on a second time to wear it opaque. It makes your lips look moist and soft, and it doesn't dehydrate. The perfect HG red lipstick!

LOVEEE this lippie!! MAC should make this PERM. Its a perfect all year round shade or corally red. The proceeds going to a good cause make it even better!!

This is such a wearable red lipstick. I'm totally in love with it, I wear it whenever I can. Its lustre formula allows you to build up the intensity of the colour to your own preference. Also, it is very moisturising! =)

When I first went to MAC for a muted red I had totally forgotten about this one even though I had looked at it before! When I asked the woman working that day for the muted red, The first one she directed me to was this one. I instantly knew that I was getting it. Especially after trying it on! It was gorgeous!!!! This is the best muted red color ever! It isn't like a nude red, it's red toned down! It brightens the face, makes your lips look amazing! ETC! GET ITT!!!!!!!!!!! The finish is a Lustre it is pigmented and moisturizing! I find this one a tad more pigmented than the other lustres but I still totally and completely enjoy and love this lipstick! The prices change depending on where you live, But I am pretty sure this one in the US is 14.50. But check your local mac for more information. GET THIS LIPSTICK!

I'm not really into reds because I get a little shy wearing it. I feel it's too much of a bold color for me to pull off. BUT Viva Glam Cyndi works for me :) I'm NC25-NC30, yellow undertoned, dark brown hair with pigmented lips for reference. It's definitely wearable for the daytime, not just night. It's not too drying but I still recommend applying a lip balm under. It's a lustre finish so it can be built up to the intensity you prefer. It's more of a muted, subtle red I think and it's not too out there. I had to take off 1 star because the lasting power isn't that great. It is hard to find now since it's discontinued, so if your MAC counter still carries a few.. just get it!! It's really worth trying, you'll love it!

YES!!! LOVE this color!!!!!! I soooo wish it wasn't limited edition. This is THE red for WOC. It looks so great because it's a slightly coral red, so it picks up some of the golden undertones in darker skintones.
If you can find one, get it.

LOVE!! I would describe it as a reddish coral. It applies a bit sheer but that's fine with me. I'm in love with this colour. I like wearing it just on it's own and sometimes as a stain. It is bright, but definitely wearable for my skin-tone. It has a nice glossy finish and applies very smoothly. I think my favourite from MAC. If only it wasn't limited edition I would have stocked up!

Oh I WISH this wasn't discontinued! A gorgeous coral-red colour, not too much of a bold red... it's more pink on me anyway. This is a perfect lipstick colour. I wish I bought more of it! :( Only problem is since it's Lustre formula it dries out a lot but meh what can you do. It's also like $18 a tube here in Canada so I find it pricy but well worth the price in my opinion.

I really like this lipstick. It is a great red that is not too pigmented so its great for everyday wear, and it also looks quite pretty against my pale skin. I also love the lipstick formula (its a lustre so its really smooth and feels great on the lips, and all MAC lipsticks have an amazing vanilla scent). The lipstick does last a pretty long time but you do have to reapply it every couple of hours, but that's no problem for me.

I love this shade, even though reds are generally difficult for me to wear. It's a bit warmer than what I can typically pull off, but I like it. On me, it's a light red; one coat can look like sheer cherry, or it can be built up to a more pigmented (but still light) red. While MAC described it as coral-red, I do not see too much coral in it. It's definitely a unique color; it's so pretty in the tube that I love looking at it! I do not own any reds like this one. (For reference, NW5-10, NARS Siberia, Cover FX E0.)

To be perfectly honest, I would have bought Viva Glam Cyndi no matter what color it happened to be; Cyndi was one of my first beauty icons as a kid, and I still love her. I also love that ALL the proceeds from Viva Glam sales are donated to a such a great cause. It's just a bonus to me that the color is so lovely! I wish I had thought to buy some backups while it was still available.

True reds scare me as they are so hard to maintain throughout the day, so I hardly ever wear them. This is my go to red if I don't feel like a true red. It wears off so nicely leaving a pink/red stain on the lips. Beautiful, what a shame that it is no longer available!

I love bold lip color, so when this came out i had to get it. MAC lipsticks are my favorite and VG Cyndi did not disappoint. The color looks great with my pale skin and I feel comfortable wearing it out. I have also noticed from some pictures I've seen that this looks great on girls with olive complexions. I got a decent amount of wear from this. I would definitely repurchase.

I bought this lipstick months ago after reading reviews about it being a good red for people who are not comfortable wearing true reds. I love the texture, the smell is lovely and it's super easy to build color up to a deep raspberry shade. I, however, don't really wear it because it's still too red for me... I have pale skin with pink undertones and some redness around my nose and eyes. I feel like this color accentuates the overall redness of my face (which is not that bad to begin with), no matter how much concealer/foundation/powder I use, and it makes me look like, yes, *dramatic cue* a clownish whore who doesn't know how to apply makeup... Still! I totally recommend it if you think you can rock this shade (better try it in store first, though, if you have doubts -and if you can still find it- especially considering it's not cheap!).

Universally-wearable colour does not equal nice colour. I like this shade well enough, and it seems as though it's suitable for almost any skintone. However, it doesn't make any particular statement that makes me excited about wearing the Cyndi Lauper shade. Considering Cyndi's vivacious personality, I'd assume she'd have a similarly vibrant shade of red. This one's most like a cardinal red on pale skin. I prefer my red lipstick to make more of a statement, and this just blends in with my skin. In doing so, it's a truly timeless shade and would be excellent for someone more mature, or as a first lipstick. For me, it's pleasant but nothing special. However, the VIVA GLAM endorsement makes me feel a bit better about buying it, and I'm certain it's worth the investment as a relatively neutral red.

This lipstick took me awhile to track down....had to call at least 10 nordies before i could get my hands on this gem! This was my very first red lippie, i always thought that i could never pull off red lipstick but cyndi changed that. it's a coral red so it's very day appropriate and not too in your face. It's not super bright so it's very easy to wear. This is so gorgeous and I'm so happy that i was able to find this lipstick, it's a great color..esp for spring and summer.

I love this lipstick and will very likely hit bottom if I wasn't trying to save it. I find that the colour is very wearable and flattering day or night and with most outfits. I wish it would last longer though.

It just tickles me how incredible - and different! - this looks on everyone. I was surprised I got my hands on this at all, given I fell in love with it after MAC had announced they were pulling all remaining inventory (shocked still that my local counter, which barely HAS inventory on a good day) had any left.


This is pretty pigmented, especially for a Lustre, and can be worn sheer or packed on for more opaque color. When I apply this lightly, it's reminiscent of MAC's See Sheer - a pretty, pinky coral. When I apply with a heavier hand, it's a sexy yet still demure berry red. I almost always top it with some sort of gloss because after about an hour, it gets a little drying, but if you're not prone to dryness like I am, Cyndi has enough gloss on its own to go without an extra coating of shine.


I'd have loved to say there's a dupe of this somewhere, but I haven't come across any, although some online swatches show that On Hold is very close. Due to the fact this looks different on everyone (it even looks different on me day-to-day, it seems!) finding a universal dupe probably isn't possible. continued >>
