I have been struggling with a random acne outburst at the age of 25, so I made an appointment to see the dermatologist. He suggested that I use this every night and pair it with a mild cleanser such as Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel. This combo has been working FABULOUSLY for my combination skin. This moisturizer is non scented and absorbs into my skin right away. You feel refreshed but light. I preach about this product to everyone I meet that is struggling with acne!!
This may be my HG moisturizer. Love the consistency and it absorbs easily. I use a generous amount morning and night. Doesn't clog my pores or break me out. I have seen a noticeable improvement in my skin. So much better than the many high end products I have tried!
I tried this because of all the hype, this stuff is like the gold standard on the skin board, and...I hated it. A lot. Ok, first and foremost this is supposed to be highly effective on dry skin, and it was one of the least moisturizing lotions I've ever tried, this wouldn't cut it for the day time, let alone night. My skin isn't even THAT dry, more like normal-dry made worse by the cold winter weather. Anyway, there are moisturizers that aren't highly effective, and then there's this. Even after I used a very hydrating cleanser, which isn't even something I always do, this left my skin feeling tight, dry, and very irritated. I tried slathering on a ton but all it did was leave a film without leaving my skin feeling the slightest bit hydrated. Then, to add insult to injury, I woke up the acne! I'm not acne prone! Even if a product clogs the everloving hell out of my skin it usually takes a while for me to develop cystic acne. Needless to say I returned it immediately. Maybe ceramides just are not for me, but this was an utter disaster for me.
I'm so happy that I found this product! Everyone: it is basically the same product as Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum - Fragrance Free which is 1.7 ounces and $20. The CeraVe PM is 3 ounces and $15 at CVS. I tried the Olay version and I broke out horribly. It has way too many "cones" in it. If you look in the Olay ingredients, dimethicone is listed about 7 times--way too much for my acne-prone skin. Here is a side by side comparison of ingredients. (The main anti-aging ingredient in both products is niacinamide, and that is what you're paying for. Also, CeraVe does not have "peptides," like Olay but it *does* have hyaluronic acid, cholesterol, and ceramides which in my opinion, are equally good for skin).

Texture of CeraVe PM is smooth and serum like -- absorbs into my skin effortlessly, leaves a matte finish, and plumps my skin. I use it under my BB cream in the morning and as a serum in my nightly routine. My skin is moisturized, plumped, and my hyperpigmentation spots are gradually fading as well. Love this product! It's fragrance free and best of all, has not clogged my pores! Only con: it has parabens as a preservative. I am willing to overlook that for now since the product has so many great ingredients.
I tried this upon recommendation from my dermatologist and wasn't supremely impressed int he beginning...but then realized that a year later, it is what I reach for every night after my serums. Although I wish it had more antioxidants, I cover those wit my serum and I do like that the CeraVe has niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. It has a relatively lightweight texture but provides significant moisture and doesn't clog my pores. Anything you can rely on like that, should be seen as sexy!
This is a good lotion if your skin is not acne prone or very oily. I found it clogged my pores so I'm now using it up as an eye 'cream' only. I like the fact that it has a large amount of niacinamide and is scent free.
I used this for about 6 months when I was taking accutane it really helped with any flaking that occurred it's also very light and never clogged my pores, it's the best basic drug store moisturizer I've used
Another girl here with a horrible reaction to (the niacinamide in) this product. Just like everyone else, I had tiny rash-like whiteheads everywhere, including on my eyelids (ewww). Thankfully it cleared up in about two days after stopping use. The lotion did feel nice on my skin upon application, non-greasy and soothing. My pump worked, but I had the feeling it could give up the ghost at any moment. PLEASE do a patch test before using this all over your face, unless you know you are not sensitive to niacinamide.
This lotion saved my skin! I had a horrible reaction to Retin-A and my jawline and entire chin was a mess. I would wake up to peeling, cracking skin that would have new irritated bumps by the afternoon. I tried this on a whim after just about every other heavy duty ointment did nothing. The morning after using this I could already tell a difference. Even though it says PM I used it morning and night and after a month my skin is healthy and glowing with no need for more than a touch of concealer here and there.
I love that it's in a pump bottle and it releases a very small amount of product so you can use just what you need. It did burn the slightest amount on my broken, irritated skin but not uncomfortably so, and that dissipated quickly. It feels very light but keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day.
I would recommend.
I used to love this moisturizer but for some reason, I just can't use it anymore :(
I've heard this product has a great formula and I certainly enjoyed it in the past. I can't really speak for all of the ingredients, but I always found this to be light and moisturizing -- very comfortable to wear. I also liked that the product contained niacinamide because I did see improvement in my hyperpigmentation.
I used this moisturizer for about two years. I only stopped because I wanted to explore other options. This was about a year ago.
Recently, I picked this up again (a new bottle) because my skin was getting very dehydrated and I wanted something that was moisturizing with a great formula.
Well, I knew this was a mistake the next morning because I had several bad breakouts.
I was crushed when I saw what had happened, but I decided to keep trying because I thought niacinamide could cause purging. Unfortunately, the breakouts didn't stop -- they kept coming.
After using the lotion for about a week, I finally stopped. I don't know if I was purging or not, but I really couldn't continue either way. Even when I started using actives like retinoid, BHA, AHA, and finacea, I never had a reaction like this.
Another thing I didn't enjoy -- the way it sank in. I feel like it was much lighter and sank in much better in the past. This time, I felt like my skin was a bit sticky and uncomfortable.
Anyway, I know a lot of people enjoy this product and I used to as well. I don't know if the formula changed, or if it's my skin, but it doesn't work for me.
