I have a love hate relationship with this e/s. At first I hated it because it just looked so blah in the pan I got (received it free from a friend).....but then I REALLY wanted to do a look that required a little more sunny yellow and all I had was either super pale yellow, mac golden lemon which was too bright and sparkly for the job, or sugarpill buttercupcake which was too dandelion colored for what I wanted and pretty matte ugh.
So I gave it another try and even though the color payoff is a little less than I would like it still looked pretty amazing by the time I was done. As long as you use a good base it won't take as much product but it definitely doesn't have the pigmentation of others I have. I dont know if I will keep it or give it to my mother or something but for now it works when I need it to.
btw USE A BASE it will save your life with bright colors

This wasn't pigmented at al! Too sheer and even wet it was not pigmented. Didn't blend well and wasn't creamy in texture. Horrible.

This is color make uP artist should have. It's a true yellow and it's buildable. I use my UDPP under it and it did not crease or wear off at all ! I like doing a dark cat eye with this on the lid and brown script in the crease. Real pretty

This is a lovely true yellow color. It's a bit hard to work with and it definitely needs a good base. I use a primer and NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk to make it stick and it works fine. You do need to pack it on tough. It would look even better with a yellow base. So my tips for anyone who has trouble applying it, use a good sticky base and it will apply beautifully :)

I've been looking for a yellow color for awhile to pull the natural yellow gold color of my eyes out, I have semi-amber colored eyes, and of course the make-up forever yellow color is always sold out when I got in to get it. So I decided to get the goldenrod color in the pro palette.
For me personally, it looks really nice on my skin tone, I put a neutral base down and it shows up an interesting yellowish color which has become more orange toned as the day has past. I really like it paired with Sketch and matte blacks because it just makes it pop and gives you an edgy feel.

I was so very disappointed with this product and normally I will ask a MUA to lend me a brush to swatch bare skinned, but for some reason I didnt. I got home and tried this with THREE different primer and it was such a pain to work with. It needs alot of produc to build up for me to see the true color.

I really love this color. However it is not satin. It's matte. Not sure why MAC calls it satin.
You do have to build or apply wet to get the full strength of the color. I'm not a total fan of that aspect however it is nice to have the option to wear this as a really funky highlight because of the sheerness. It's also nice as a sheer yellow wash on the lid or added to another color. It's a rare shade of shadow to find. It's yellow with just a tad of a orange undertone. Really unique and versatile if you ever mix and blend your eyeshadows.
Alas, I do not wear MAC eyeshadows anymore because my eyes are irritated by them. :( If MAC shadows don't bother your eyes, then I recommend this color.

Love it. It so summer. Can't wait to get the orange. You do have to pack on at least with my skin tone. But I will def buy again. MAC is always expensive to me. The packaging is just average nothing special.

I don't know about others, but this shadow is exactly what i've been looking for. it applies and looks more like a matte but i think it's absolutely how this shadow should be. Apply with a brush after using primer! I just use foundation and it works wonders at preventing this from creasing.
It goes on smooth unlike some matte shadows i've tried, and it pops wonderfully with my blue eyes.
My FAVORITE look with this is goldenrod over the whole lid, with passionate in the crease and ruby red pigment in the outter corner. amazing!

Ok so I just got this color and like the others said it looks sooo pretty in the pot, I just had to get it but it is not velvet and does not show up well at all! I'm so disappointed, I think I'll try to work with it and see what happens. *Update* - Ok so I found that if you use a sponge brush instead of a MAC brush then it goes on much better, slightly more pigmented if you use the sponge brush w/stick and you can get those from anywhere (walgreens etc.). Once I break it in good I'll repost :)

I was looking for the yellowest yellow.
On the MAC online shopping site's picture, Goldenrod looked a bit dull and chrome yellow looked yellower on my PC screen.
But in store, Goldenrod was more vivid in the pan or applied.
All the yellow I had had previously was pastel and applied almost white, and I didn't want that. Next to Goldenrod, Chrome yellow just had the slightest pastel undertone.
Since yellow is a primitive color I think it's great for mixing with other colors. And it's also great for sun-set eyes.
So until a better and truer yellow comes along, I would repurchase Goldenrod.
If my review sounds overtly positive, it's because I wanted to balance out the few reviews for this product that's all been negative. It's not that bad.

This is a very pretty color in the pot but once I applied it to my skin it did not show up at all. What a waste. The MUA at MAC was saying that this color looked really good on dark skin and I believed her by looking at the color because most yellows and oranges compliment brown skin really well. I even tried to make this work with a primer but it was still a no go. Sadly I had to return this eyeshadow. If you have olive skin to brown skin you may not want to get this color.

Goldrenrod was a pro e/s color that is now in the regular online collection. It is a bright golden yellow color that is supposed to be a satin; however, it applies and has the texture of a matte (dry, unpigmented, and dusty). I'm not loving this one at all.
