I have fine, blond, chlorine-damaged, highlighted and lowlighted hair. I've been using this product as directed once a week. WOW.
My lowlights, which usually fade out nearly immediately, are still intact over a month later. After I use this product, especially for the first few days but even nearly a week later, my hair is easy to comb through and is oh-so-smooth. I've definitely noticed less breakage since I started using this treatment. My hair, which can be limp/flat if I don't do everything right, lays really nicely after I use this.
I do use it in conjunction with color protecting shampoo and conditioner. (First with Herbal Essences, which I've been using for years, to see whether *this* product made the difference. It did. I've recently tried Kiehl's Sunflower Color Preserving Shampoo/Conditioner, and love those also.)
I can't believe the poor reviews of this product. Check out the reviews on the Aveda site for more opinions and ways people use it.
I liked this because it did what it claimed, strengthen. I'm compairing it to kerastase products as well as fekkai and it's a favorite of mine and works just as well. I have overly highlighted, delicate hair, but not color, mainly highlights. So, does it preserve or protect color? I can't say it does. But the bottle claims to strengthen which is why I bought it and I'm glad I did! I only use it maybe 1nce a week, since I have many other masques. It has lasted 8 months which is great for 26 bucks! hair dresser recommended this bc it strengthens. However, I felt it repaired or made my very damaged hair feel better than damage remedy mask, ironic huh? The damage remedy seemed to moisturize more than strengthen...
This is awful stuff. Glad I only tried it once. Going right back to the salon on my next visit. I bought this because I read a recommendation in MORE magazine, I think, on strengthening hair. This just made my highlighted hair like straw. will switch for the Dry Remedy product instead.
I have fine, slightly damaged, color-treated (lightened) hair past my shoulders and this left my hair like straw in appearance and texture. Very dry, no shine or luster and very hard to comb through. Will def not repurchase.
This treatment is expensive but it is Aveda - most of their products are, this ranges approx $26.00 for a tube. I use it 1x a week so it does last. I apply to my ends only. It makes me hair smoother looking, shiney and softer. This is good for color treated hair (highlights/bleaching, etc) You can buy it on the Aveda website but sometimes you may be able to find it cheaper on eBay.
I've always loved the scent of Color Conserve products even though I don't like the shampoo or conditioner. I decided to try this anyways and it was okay at best. My hair wasn't as soft or shiny as when I use Bumble Creme de Coco masque. My hair is fine, dry, and very slightly damaged from highlighting so I imagine this isn't for moderate to severe damage.
