Like a lot of other people, I got a little crazy about duochrome flakies. When I saw this polish from OPI, I just had to have it. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations.
I can barely see the flakies at all when I put it on. This is disappointing, because inside the bottle they look great. It in no way compares to other polishes like Koh's Blue Universe or anything Nfu Oh is putting out.
It's a nice vampy colour to wear for a special night out, but the reason I bought it was for the ton of flakies in the bottle and they don't really show up that well if I'm not outdoors in direct sunlight. I've barely used it since I bought it and will not need another bottle.

Ahh the Merry Midnight polish. A gorgeous purple polish filled with rainbow flakies. On the downside, it is HTF and expensive, but ORLY Fowl Play is a dupe.

Possibly one of the best OPI shades I own. the very first time I wore this, I received so many compliments! Formula was great, no issues with application. I was extremely lucky to pick this up for about $4.50 on clearance sale! should have bought the other 2 or 3 bottles left as back up ... oh well. There is honestly no nail polish in the world like it, so sad to know that it is discontinued and now rare to find. I would definitely repurchase if I could.

OMG gorgeous. This is one of my most precious polishes. I have a few bottles in back-up, because it's fantastic.
Dark purple jelly-like base with glitter, glass flecked and, tada tada, flakies. I love flakies soooo much.
I always use one coat of MM on some dark, creme polish (usually OPI's Siberian Nights or Essence's Thelma). And with it MM looks soooooo great. Solo MM needs three layers and ain't look as good as on dark base. So yes, MM is my favorite layering polish :)))

Just to chime in with the crowd - wow. I kept seeing this on the nb, and I finally threw up my hands and said, "I have to have it!" After a little bit of searching, it's mine and it's LOVE! :)
MM is one of the most complex polishes I've ever seen, with flakes, glitter, microglitter and shimmer all packed into it, with rainbow colors from blue, purple, pink, gold - it looks like a lit-up (purple) Christmas tree! I'm now terrified of running out and not being able to find another bottle, so I use it sparingly by layering over other polishes. Zoya Casey gives MM a much redder, grapeish tone, which is pretty, but next time I think I'll try something a little cooler like Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not, which seems closer to the base color of MM.
Application is great - I love the Pro-Wide brush, and the flakes behave themselves during app as long as you wait a couple minutes between coats to give them time to settle in their place on the nail. I couldn't wait the first time, and ended up with a gloppy mess at the tip of my nail. Oops. :) Patience, grasshopper...
Overall, I just can't stress how fantastic this polish is. A+!

I bought this color on clearance after the holiday season half off. I had more glitter than expected and I had to apply three coats, but it was worth it. It's a nice fall/winter color.

oooohhhh....i just spent 21 bucks on this on ebay,im sure there are better prices now but if the price is lower then they get you for the shipping...i had to have it though!!! too pretty with the red flecks in the deep purple...and staying power i just love it!!

Reading the other reviews made me wonder just how much the price had gone up on this item...I checked eBay and it retails for about $16! I had no idea just how limited this color would be! I don't think I paid more than $8 myself. Price aside, this color is amazing, but I only gave it a four-lipstick rating because it takes a little extra effort to get the proper opacity. I really am not crazy about how this looks when it's sheer because the glitter can make it look cheap. Wear this with two or three good coats...or, better yet, layer it over a dark blue (Merry Midnight over Russian Navy is my favorite nail combination). This color is a must-have for winter, but I am wearing it right now!

LOVE. Sure it's high priced but it's just such a fun polish! Not just for holidays, it's a deep purple with red/green flakes, and what looks like royal blue sparkles. I couldn't stop looking at my nails when i wore this.
As with all OPIs, the application was hassle-free and with a good top coat, did not chip on me all week. Removing flakies can be tough, but still worth it in the end.

Love it! you can definitely get year-round wear out of this, but as others have said it's very festive. I certainly know what my mani will be for next x-mas/new years :) this is the type of glitter I prefer; It's a jelly infused w/ glitter and flakes. it's not dense, but applies w/o leaving a rough texture that more dense glitters can leave. I always layer polishes like these over darker colors because it's a lot less work than doing multiple layers and the end result is the same. any purple or black would be perfect under it. dry time was normal, but OPI polishes are always chippy on me no matter base/top coat. normally I'd take a lippie off for that, but it's so pretty and unique I just can't bring myself to do it.

One of my favorites to apply and look at in my stash. It's a purple jelly with golden flakes and microglitter. Very festive and Christmasy. Since it's a jelly it'll take two coats for solid color or you can apply over a lighter purple for a cool effect. I've never seen a color like this before. Looks stunning in the winter. I would definitely repurchase.

I really wanted to love this product. My daughter loved this. She wanted to wear it. When i was applying this it went on very streaky. When I tried to fix it the nail polish looked lumpy. Thank goodness I have a good top coat. It is a fun color.

This stuff would look better over another color as it is streaky, but it is festive....I wish it had more color...but love the sparkles

One of my favorite polishes ever. It's a gorgeous, deep, glittery purple without being cheap looking. And you know what I mean by that. Sometimes glitter nailpolish looks cheap no matter how expensive it is or what brand it is. I saw this polish on a few blog sites and knew I had to have it and was so glad when I tracked it down. I was even more impressed by it in person. It applies smoothly and doesn't get chunky and think like some glitter polishes do. I think the best part is that it stays on for days and DAYS. I have never gone so long without a nail polish chipping. Continually impressed. A must-have shade -- holiday or not!

This is DEFINITELY one of my favourite polishes of all time. I sadly didn't buy a back-up. It's a really unique colour--- a purple colour with chunks of glitter in it. The best glitter pieces have an almost red-burgundy shade which I find really interesting. I've never seen a colour like it!
Such a fun colour! I found it really easy to apply and has a good consistency. I use two coats when I apply it and I find that's all you need. Unlike most glittery nail polishes, I found it pretty easy to remove, too! I usually avoid glitter nail polishes simply because they're such a pain to take off, but this one wasn't the case.
I was worried that it would be too "loud" but it's really not. It's a great shade.

OPI's Merry Midnight is a very complex warm-toned shade of dark vamy plum/purple. In different lights it either looks like a very dark-dark red-toned plum or a very dark-dark blue-toned purple. Along with this shimmery shade of color comes microfine glitter in tones of blue, pink, and silver. And THEN along with all THAT comes the the red/pink-toned flakies. In my opinion, there's way too much going on with this polish. The flakies over-power the glitter, the glitter over-powers the shimmery purple - it's like sensory overload!! Now for the application - a nightmare as far as I'm concerned (and why I'm rating this so low and won't repurchase). I applied this over SH Nail Quencher base coat and the first coat was extremely sheer and extremely streaky and a general mess leaving bald patches. The second coat evened out some of this and covered the bald patches somewhat. By coat #3 I was close to bottle color but by this time a lot of the flakies (which are almost like tiny wet paint chips) had either been covered up by layers of polish or were being wiped off/moved around with each brush stroke. (I think the key is to apply this polish in as few strokes as possible and not go over wet, already-polished areas.) This finally achieved bottle color and streaklessness after four coats. The drying time was very quick at about four minutes per coat and rock hard after SV and 15 minutes. The end result is quite nice and very unique but, in my opinion, a little dark for my fair skin. I also think I'd rather this one was redone either without the glitter or without the flakies. Having both in the same polish makes it a little busy. Also, the application problems are going to keep me away from buying this one again.

I love LOVE this shade. I hope OPI comes out with a similiar shade again, because I didn't buy a back up. This stuff is a very sheer plum glitter. It looks great on its own, but you need at least 2 coats. I love layering this shade with others: Black Onyx, Lincoln Park, ect. Because its so sheer, it dries REALLY quickly. Would definitely buy again if it became a permanent colour!

This is a beautiful nail polish with a jelly-like consistency. It is deep purple with a blue duochrome and looks absolutely gorgeous in all lights. It has silver micro-glitter which shines blue in some lights and flecks of red glitter which shines green/amber in some lights.
It is semi-sheer and the glitter does not show up very well in one coat, you will need at least two coats but I recommend using three.
Highly recommended.

This will go down in history as one of my top 5 OPI polishes of all time. Awesome purple jelly with gorgeous flakies! I went crazy and now I own 3 bottles... If you like boysenberry jelly and the beautiful intricacy of granite, then you'll love this color. This needs to be part of the permanent collection (or not, I have enough to last me 10 years)...
