I got a deluxe sample from Sephora that lasted about a week, used morning and night. I wasn't sure how much to use so I started with one pump. There was no tingling. Within a couple of days my skin was looking noticeably worse. I wanted to give this product a fair trial and I thought I might not be using enough so I upped it to two pumps. There was still no tingling nor beneficial effect. It seemed to dehydrate my skin. Fine lines got worse and there was a loss of plumpness. Some pores got clogged and the skin looked rougher. To be fair, I stopped using my oil serum while I was trying this (though I was still using moisturizers). Once the sample was finished I started an oil serum sample and my skin immediately improved.

I'm not sure if it is due to Good Genes or my new skincare regimen overall but I'm finding my skin is looking more even-toned and for the first time ever I'm considering skipping foundation. Never thought I'd be one of those girls that gets away with just a swipe of mascara! My skin type is: dehydrated combination skin (lacks moisture & gets oily), large pores, mild redness around the nose, no sensitivity issues. First use of GG produced a mild tingling sensation that went away. Didn't have any redness or sensitivity the next day. If you have truly sensitive skin you might want to patch test first. GG makes my skin look so lovely and even toned the next day. My skin is less oily in the morning too, which is typically a problem that I have. Paired up with regular (physical) exfoliation, I'm seeing pores on my face shrinking especially on the nose! Exfoliating alone wasn't doing the trick but GG really helps. I only use GG at night even though it says it's good for day/night and I alternate between GG, Luna, and vitamin C serum at night. It's possible to layer all the products but I prefer not to so I can see what really works for me. I think I prefer GG over Luna and would definitely repurchase. It's too bad it's so pricey!

Hate that it's so expensive, but it works to the point where I bite the bullet. I've been using this sparingly (everyday, but less than half a pump), and my skin's never looked better. I don't even use foundation/bb cream anymore. I just wear sunscreen, and dab a bit of concealer on old acne scars (which are fading). My skin is brighter and softer. I rarely feel the sting or tingle, probably because I use so little. But even with my lack of usage, there's already an airhole dent in the bottle. So little product! And super expensive, too. Docked off a lippie due to price point.

Crazy expensive but this really does work wonders! It stings a little and makes my skin a little red but doesn't irritate my skin otherwise and overall really brightens and tones my skin. I also really like the smell, it reminds me of ginger for some reason. I'm definitely going to repurchase which I almost never say.

One of the best skincare products i have ever used that gives me results. These days a lot of products claim so many things but doesn't deliver good results. But good genes is seriously the one product i will buy despite the hefty price tag as it brightens, reduce the appearance of my pores and is full of anti aging properties. If you have the budget this is a must.

I have been using this product for a few weeks now. It works well for me. I have had. I reactions and I could see a brightness to my skin. I have no routine sometimes I use it every night and other times maybe once every 2-3 days. One thing I have found is my old acne scars and sun spots have become lighter. I really did not even notice this big change until I was tweetzing my eyebrows in a magnifying makeup mirror. I apply a Sunday Riley Oil after using Good Genes unless it is Luna oil which I use before Good Genes and my skin looks great in my own opinion. I am becoming addicted to her oils too. I am happy with her products and will continue to buy them when I run out.

I'm sorry but this is way overpriced for what it is. Good Genes is, in short without the fancy marketing, a chemical exfoliator. The lactic acid in this is the only miracle ingredient... and you can find it in much cheaper formulations. It is an alpha hydroxy acid, proven to slough off dead skin cells. In turn you are left with lessened wrinkles, lightened hyperpigmentation, and an overall even skin tone. So will this product work? Sure. However if you heed my warning of it being overpriced, at least listen to me when I warn you that the PH level of Sunday Riley Good Genes is 2.6. That means it can be quite rough on the skin as it is more acidic than needed for exfoliation. The ideal PH levels for alpha hydroxy acids to work their magic safely is 3-4. It's not anything that will cause a chemical burn, however Good Genes did irritate my skin to the point where it turned beet red. Here is the full ingredient list: NV-5 Ageless Complex (Opuntia Tuna Fruit (Prickly Pear) Extract, Cyripeedium Pubescens (Lady’s Slipper Orchid) Extract, Opuntia Tuna Fruit, Opuntia Vulgaris (Cactus) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract & Saccharomyces Cerevisiae (Yeast) Extract), Lactic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Squalene, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, PPG-12/SMDI Copolymer, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol and Ceteareth 20, Glyceryl Stearate and PEG-100 Stearate, Arnica Extract, PEG-75 Meadowsol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Extract, Lemongrass Extract, Triethanolamine, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Steareth-20, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, DMDM Hydantoin.Note that the NV-5 "Ageless Complex" is just gimmicky marketing. I can think of much simpler ingredients that preform much better than that "complex" formula. Also note it has a few comedogenic ingredients (Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol and Ceteareth 20,...). All can be found on Acne.org's list of ingredients to avoid. I'm NOT saying this product will break every acne prone customer out. However I *am* noting that there's a fair chance it could. Good Genes is expensive and targets aging skin so perhaps Sunday Riley didn't take acne-prone skin into account. But hey, I'm past 21 yet still breaking out. Last but not least - lemongrass oil is what gives this "treatment" such a strong fragrance. It can potentially irritate sensitive skin... if the PH level didn't already. :PI'm not repurchasing. -----------EDITED TO ADD: Please please PLEASE wear sunscreen whenever using any chemical exfoliator. They cause the skin to become more photosensitive, meaning you are more vulnerable to UV rays. Sunscreen is actually the cheapest and smartest way to prevent further sun damage.

This is good but not enough for the price tag - and I just got it on Sept.23rd and it's almost done. It feels good, but just not enough for me to keep buying it. I tried the combo with the Ceramic Slip Cleanser and that was not a big deal. I have very dry skin so a clay cleanser is not a good idea for me.

I've been using the sample for two/three weeks now. I use it 6 days in a row for the first week and every two days the second and third week. I use it at night after I double cleanse myself with low pH cleanser as the second cleanser and I use acid toner from my dermatologist afterwards. and then I put the good genes on and nothing afterwards as I wanna see the result on its own.sometimes I wait half an hour after toning sometimes not at all. if I wait, I get the tingle a veryveryvery slight tingle like almost nothing kind of tingle? but sadly it does almost nothing to my skin.my skin is combination right now somewhat dehydrated with slight oil on my t-zone so my face is kinda dull. I need hydrating exfoliant so I thought lactic acid is the right one but maybe Good Genes is not the right kind or maybe something in the formulation idk guys I'm not good at chemistry but bear with me (and my long ass review).so many people said that they wake up to glowing skin, I don't. some people said that the result is almost immediate upon application, I only see dull skin me. I don't mind the lemony-herbaly scent as long as it works. but the thing is, it really doesn't do shit to my complexion. and considering the lack of tingle (which a lot of people said this thing tingles like crazy) maybe a bad sample? I mean with that $$$ pricetag we certainly have high hopes, right? right.oh! the first time I used it, I thought the dullness is there because it was my dead skin cell waiting to get washed away with morning cleanse. after I cleanse it..... um... I kinda glowy? not like second-coming-of-jesus-kind-of-glow but I can see it there idk maybe it's true or maybe it's the placebo effect.whatever, at least it does not break my out. and eventhough it doesn't make my skin glowy, it actually helps my pimples to calm down but it doesn't necessarily help it to rapidly subsides. the good genes may be helping the PIH to fade away but it's not gloriously fasten the process. because if it does, I would notice it and screams in joy singing early christmas songs. but no. nothing happened.EDIT 14/12/2015 : it actually did give me glow because I when I scrolled down on my selfies on my phone (don't judge me it's for research purposes lol), selfies from when I used this serum look glowy and now I lost my glow. I don't get that purge nonsense, it evens out my skintone and texture give it the glow that I desire. UGH I feel like I only appreciate things when it's gone :( this is a major bummer because I'm a college student I can't afford to buy this serum in full size but now I know that it actually works and I was so blind to see it, I think I'm gonna save a LOT of money for this.

Oh Sunday Riley. Why, oh why, are your products so expensive? Why, oh why, do they work so well? Good Genes is $105. And I've already bought bottle #2 because I didn't want to run out (and there was a good deal), and it's a product that provides pretty much immediate looking results. I notice when I don't use it for a few days. I'm sure there's something out there for less money that works as well, but I haven't found it and instead of wasting more money on products that don't agree with my skin (looking at you, Paula's Choice exfoliant), I'll keep using this one.I started using Good Genes about 4 months ago, and I'm now about 4/5 done with the first bottle. I'm using it about 3x a week now as a nighttime treatment (cleanse + Pixi Glow Tonic + Good Genes + moisturizer), and for that I need about 1/2 a pump. Early on I think I was slathering it on too thick-- I really don't need a full pump to get the benefits. And while it's great as a leave-on treatment, my real love for this product comes from the 'flash facial' bit: mixing Good Genes with the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip cleanser. For that combo alone, I will keep buying those two products. (I do want to try the REN 1-minute facial in hope that maybe it's a much cheaper alternative someday). When my skin looks dull or things feel sluggish, 15 minutes or so of the Good Genes/Ceramic Slip has my skin in really lovely, plumped shape. It's a magical, magical thing. An expensive thing, but cheaper than professional facials, and it has immediate and visible effects. So for me, it's worth the price and has found a very secure place in my routine.
