I LOVE this lipstick. I originally bought it trying to replace Volcanic Red that I had stockpiled on after it was discontinued. Tired of having to Ebay that I decided to give this a try. At first I thought it would be too orange and tacky on me, but it is beautiful. I wear red lipstick almost everyday, so I wear this color just about everyday. It is definitely a bright red but I've kind of made it my signiture. It is a pretty true red with almost a neon hue to it slightly coral pinky but that is very slight. I have very fair neautral skin color with black hair and blue/green eyes. For girls that love that look I would absolutely recommend this color. I work for a high end beauty boutique with everything from Ellis Faas to By Terry, but this is still my almost everyday go to! Love!

I never thought I'd wear this shade of red: it's a classic red, on the brighter side, and leans a little warm on me. I have light ash brown hair, gray/green eyes, and very fair pink skin, so I'm cool cool cool in most everything. But Revlon Fire & Ice--it's legendary at this point, isn't it? And I just love Revlon lipstick, Super Lustrous has a satin-y finish, and is a dependably pigmented, smooth, and long-lasting formula. I had to try it. Luckily it's not so warm/tomato-y that it's unwearable for me. It seems to have the very very slightest pink or coral undertone that makes it wearable for so many skin tones. I'm looking really raggedy and tired today, and this is the only makeup I put on, and it still makes me look pulled together. That's the beauty of a great red lipstick. I don't think anyone should be afraid to try this, as it's not super bright or super dark, and is totally appropriate for daytime office wear. Heck, if you buy it at Ulta and don't like it--return it! No harm, no foul. I'd also like to add that if you want to add extra shine, both Cherry Tart (slightly sparkly) and Candy Apple(no sparkle) Lip Butters complement this to a T. It's just a lovely lipstick that explains how Revlon has been in business since 1932. continued >>

I purchased this lipstick for three reasons.
1. I fell in love with the limited edition vintage packaging.
2. It's a classic- women have been wearing this for decades and I loved the idea of having a little piece of history in my arsenal.
3. I was craving a Hollywood red.
First of all, this is RED. There is no pink, no orange, no blue, nothing in this other than pure, unadultered red. It is actually almost fluorescent and isn't for the faint of heart. In the tube it fit my red craving to a T but unfortunately on my very pink pigmented lips this morphed into a fluorescent pink-red.
The formula is super creamy, is not long wearing and tends to be streaky.
Despite the colour of this lipstick not working out as I hoped, I would still recommend this to friends. I am glad that I have such a classic in my collection but I will not re purchase it. I will continue to use this until the tube is empty and then probably re-fill it with a different colour... I LOVE the tube!

Fire & Ice is perhaps the most unique lipstick I have ever seen.
I agree with all the other reviewers who stated that this is a coral red, more specifically it is a deep coral BASED red (if you can believe such a thing) Like coral on some folk the orange brightness will come out on others the deep pink/fuchsia.
It seems that on cool toned people the lipstick will come out bright almost neon with visible orange undertones, on neutral skin tones tomato red and on other very warm toned people the colour seems stay warm but will lean toward cherry red to hot pink.
I love bright lip colours but I can't wear them all the time however this colour is very wearable when worn with black and is the perfect red with a LBD. I'm guessing that this looks good on pale skin and dark hair because the colour stands out against pale skin but the shock of it is absorbed by dark locks, so if you find this colour too bright its best to wear it with black clothes. With my yellow based NC45 skin it is a maraschino cherry red but can look like a completely different colour (deep pink) under a camera flash - you have been warned!
So in short buy it if
- You want some thing different and daring
- You want a cult classic and Revlon's basic quality and moisture
- You know you can rock bright colours (especially orange and hot pink)
- You wear black way too much and have been looking for a fun way to inject some colour.
Do not buy it if:
- You want to play it safe
- You want a colour that looks the same in the mirror and on camera.

So the other night I was in Wal-Mart (a college girl needs her ramen!), and I ever-so-casually happened to pass right through the beauty section, coincidentally right by the “sale” signs… Yes, okay, it was totally on purpose. Anyways, Revlon had a bunch of rollback prices, so I decided to treat myself to one lipstick by them. The Super Lustrous line was on sale for $4.57 a pop, so I waffled for about five minutes in between Siren (a vibrant coral-leaning-orange) and this, Fire and Ice. In the end, I settled on this one because truth be told, I’ve already got quite a few corals and oranges, and while I do own a hefty amount of reds, none were quite as bright as this (Maybelline’s “Red Revival” and MAC’s “Heartless” are some of the reds I own: deep, darkened, more ’40s style rather than ’50s).
As I’m sure a lot of you know, there is quite a history behind this iconic shade. I was unaware of it upon purchasing, but had I known, I wouldn’t have even bothered picking up a different shade. So, F&I 101: It was originally released back in 1952, with quite a gorgeous advertisement. It was repromoted back in 2010 in the original vintage packaging as well. Sadly, I don’t own that, but I’m quite happy with this one!
I tried it on as soon as I got home. It’s a very, very bright colour, I’ll say that! The formula is quite creamy, and goes on very smoothly. I’ve got a bit of a problem with my perpetually-dry lips, and this lipstick did not exacerbate the issue. It sits very comfortably on them, and doesn’t dry them out. It also stays quite a while if you’re not eating; drinking is not that much of an issue if you apply, blot, and reapply. It creates a lovely stain as well once it wears off.
The colour itself is a bit hard to describe. In the fluorescently-lit bathroom, it’s a bright geranium colour, nearly neon. In the softer, more yellowy light of my bedroom, it takes on a more blue-based tone; and in the daylight, it’s simply a bright orangey-red. I believe the name Fire and Ice is very appropriate, as the undertones can fluctuate between orange (fire) and blue (ice) depending on your colouring and the lighting that which you are in.
All in all, it’s a lovely and unique colour that I truly adore. I highly recommend it, and will be purchasing a backup or two. Maybe three. I kind of love it.
I added a picture of myself wearing it as well; it's the full-face one with the open-mouth/surprise look thing going on. continued >>

I'm glad I read reviews on this before I purchased it. This is an excellent red, hasn't bled on me yet. On me it looks more red than reddish coral, but I still love it. It hasn't dried out my lips and it has lasted through eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Plus the fact that it's so much cheaper than department store brands, this buy is a no brainer.

I purchased Fire and Ice for about $5 USD. This is said to be a blue based red. I'm an NC45 so I'm on the hunt for the perfect red that doesn't clash with my skintone. It is a very bright red, but to me, I find this shade to be a bit too warm/not blue enough for me. So instead of it complimenting me, it just enhances the yellow undertone to my skin. As for other features of the lipstick, its finish is creamy and not drying on the lips. Depending on how much you apply, its coverage can range from sheer to opaque. There is none of the weird generic/drugstore lipstick smell or taste. The packaging is functional. I think that this would be the perfect shade of lipstick with warm undertone but a little lighter in skintone. I would not recommend if you're not into bright lipsticks. I would not repurchase this shade of lipstick, but I would definitely consider repurchasing from this line in another shade more suitable for my skintone.

This is the perfect "modern" red! If you're looking for the red lipstick on J.Crew and Kate Spade models like I was, this is just the right shade. It's bright and warm, but not orange on my NC20-25 skin. Even my boyfriend, who doesn't typically like red lipstick, gave this one the OK. It's very wearable, even in the daytime with simple black eyeliner/mascara. Love!

I LOVE this lipsticks. One of my favorites out of everything I own (cheap expensive whatever). I get SO many compliments when I wear it. Very bright so not for everyday wear, but perfect when you need something to stand out.

I know and love the history/story behind this very famous and classic shade and when Revlon released the special edition version of this lipstick in 2010 I had to finally try it. I love the lipstick's formula, it is so smooth and silky and has surprisingly good staying power for such a rich moisturising lipstick. Its pigmentation is very good and it applies and wears evenly. However, I'm quite sad to say the shade, as beautiful and legendary as it is, didn't quite work for me. It ran very orange and a bit too bright and neon on my strong yellow/tawny toned, NC42 Indian skin tone. It's definitely a very strong bold shade and very bright. It would be absolutely divine on a fair skinned, dark haired lady like Dorian Leigh, the original model, or a fair skinned lady with warm red tones to her hair like Jessica Biel, the 2010 model. I could also see it working well for women with very dark but cool toned skin, but if you're in the medium to olive warm toned range I'd be a bit cautious as it can look neon bright and orange. Still a beautiful shade though so I'm giving it a high rating but sadly not exactly universal.

This was the first true bright red lipstick I had ever bought. I think it's an absolutely classic, chic look for a cheap price. Love the color, goes on pretty smooth and lustrous (hence the name). Definitely worth a try!

I guess a girl can't have too many red lipsticks in her collection. I was on the fence about this but I caved in while I was at CVS and i'm so happy I did. I was lucky enough to find the special edition packaging, which is adorable. It's silver and gold and has the old school Revlon logo. Love!! As for the color it's a nice blue based bright red. Consistancy is creamy and not drieing. Totally retro but modern. Every girl needs a red lipstick:)

Fire and Ice makes me feel like Betty Draper...it is the most luxurious, glamorous, retro red.
This is most loved in my collection. It evokes another era while still remaining modern. Think of all the women since the 50's who have worn this colour!

Wow, this lipstick really is bright! I am a fan of bright red lipstick and I was looking for a new red since my favorite lipstick got discontinued (Maybelline Moisture Extreme in 'Candied Apple'). I bought this at Walmart for around $7. It comes in a standard lipstick type of packaging. Very plain and black. I don't really care what the packaging looks like as long as it doesn't fall apart - the product is what really matters to me. I put this on and was shocked at how bright this is. It is blinding! It tends to navigate a bit so I think applying it carefully really is a must and perhaps using some sort of primer or waxy lip pencil would help. This also stains lips really badly. I tried this lipstick on last night and today when my boyfriend came over he asked me why my lips were weird. I looked in the mirror and noticed that some parts of my lips were stained and looked neon pink. This lipstick is also way too bright to wear with dark eye make-up or obvious bronzer/blush and I think it would amazing with a simple cat eye and some mascara. A dark smokey eye paired with this would definitely be clownish. I also applied this lipstick to one lip and Candied Apple to another just to compare. They are very similar - the only differences were that Candied Apple is really shiny and just a tad more hot pink and darker than this. Otherwise from a distance they are almost identical.

IT may be a vintage colour for many. Some may even say it is a story by its own right. But for me I have never been a Revlon's fan. I do not like the taste and smell of their lips products and Revlon's packaging is not something I'd call award wining. Buuut...the Limited Edition vintage packaging isn't so bad, which is why when I found my 'love that pink' (a whole new review in that one) lipstick by chance, I also bought this Fire & Ice.
Pure blue red on me...in some light it goes red pink on my NC20-25. I will not say that it is a favourite but this is definitely a handy lippies to own for days when true red is too much. I believe this colour turns out different depends on skin tone. continued >>

I purchased this at CVS for around $6 since they were having a sale. To be honest, when this was first repromoted with the vintage packaging, I wasn't so thrilled as the others were. Mostly because from the tube and the many swatches I saw online, it seemed like a fire engine, orange-based red that looks awfully garish on me (think Ronald McDonalds or smearing hot sauce all over my mouth). So it took a few months and a bit of courage for me to finally try it since I'm looking for a new shade of red to wear this fall/winter season (I usually go for deeper reds like, Maybelline's Red Revival or berry reds like, Revlon's Cherries In the Snow). To my surprise when I put it on, it's not garish at all. There is definitely an orange/coral undertone, but it also has sort of a berry red undertone, making it a bit cool toned against my warm, olive skin. The red shade reminds me of poppies! Just gorgeous. It is bright when worn opaque, but my favorite way to wear it is by using my fingers to dab it on, creating a tinted balm/stain effect. The formula is creamy, but not as creamy as the Colorburst lipsticks. It doesn't dry my lips out either, although I do wear it over a lip balm. It also leaves a stained effect even as the color fades. It typically lasts me 2-3 hours with eating. It is utterly gorgeous and it's my new holy grail red lipstick that goes with just about any makeup looks I do (smokey eye, neutral eye, or just plain ole mascara). Definitely try it, and if it doesn't suit you, you can always return it.

This is a very pretty bright red. To me it has orange undertones which is what I should be wearing with my warm skin. However, I just cannot pull of these orange reds. It is very pretty and doesn't leave my lips dry at all. It's very creamy and I absolutly love the feel of it. This color justs takes some getting used to me who doesn't really wears. If you love wearing different shades of red, definately try this one out. Heck, it's been around since the 50s-60s.

Sexpot in a tube! On me it goes a sort of geranium shade. Gives such a classic look. The formula is smooth, creamy and glides on effortlessly. Fire and Ice looks amazing on so many different skin tones. I love how it's so uplifting. A real gem!

This lipstick perplexes me, honestly. I decided to re-try this lipstick after reading that it was a dupe for MAC's Lady Danger, which definitely made me do a double take. "What? Fire & Ice is cool-toned, not orange!"
I just HAD to dig mine out and slick some on, not only to refresh my memory but to make sure that I didn't already have one of those roaring orange-reds that I've been curious about lately. On my light/medium neutral toned skin Fire & Ice is an incredibly vivid eye-catching cool toned red. The undertone is almost a violet, rather than a blue which is what I think makes this lipstick glow the way it does. I've literally never seen a lipstick this illuminated.
When in my room where the lighting is much warmer (I have a red accent wall and lots of dark furniture with orange lighting) this lipstick does ALMOST appear to be absolute perfect, sizzling orange-red I've been dying over. However, outside and everywhere else this lipstick is cool toned with nothing even remotely orange, coral or even warm about it. It's an outrageously incandescent magenta-red that is guaranteed to get you some attention no matter where you go.
The formula is very creamy and light. If you plan on working this on with a brush, please be prepared to blot it to keep the streaking from the brush minimal. Also, it's probably a good idea to wear a liner underneath or add several layers of lipstick straight from the tube to get it nice and opaque.

Revlon's Fire & Ice is a wonderfully unique and iconic color. It's somewhat mysterious as far as the undertones go, so the only way to see if it works for you is to try it!
Maybe they call it Fire & Ice because sometimes it's smolderingly sexy and sometimes it's mysteriously glacial?
Hmm...
EDIT: I now have Lady Danger and I must clear the air. These two look absolutely nothing alike on the lips. Both have a very neon type of quality, but the colors are totally different. continued >>
