This is my first bronzer purchase. I've always been happy with my very fair skin, and am used to just using blush and highlighter to add "health" to my face when I'm not actually feeling very healthy. All of a sudden I've become very curious about bronzer, though; I think I'm just not able to get excited about beauty products anymore because I've tested everything, and this was the one thing I've never gotten into (until now?). Anyway, that means I went out and tested a ton of bronzing powders, gels, creams, etc. on my hands and arms, and this was what looked best out of all the high-end and drugstore things I managed to try. When I tested it, it seemed more like a gold highlighter than anything else, but I liked the texture and thought it would be a good place to start. When applying it to my face, though, I find that it's a bit patchy (even when using a better brush than the included mini, which is actually not so terrible). When I get it right, it looks very natural and soft, not really like a tan but just as though I have a warmer, more peachy complexion (I am naturally cool-toned). When I get it wrong, it looks like a very light layer of dirt. I do think it's worth playing with, though, and if nothing else the light shade is great for running along the tops of my cheekbones and down my nose. Back to highlighting for me!
I was sold this as good for fair warm skin and I think they got it half right. I love the highlighter side, its a pale peachy golden cream so that looks so natural with my coloring. But the Bronzing side is not natural for me. Its dirty and screams ORANGE on me. I think very pale skin like mine actually suits a pale milky pink chocolate blush best as a bronzer anyway but I thought I'd give it a go as the SA did recommend it. I did try applying the lightest touch but still looked too brown/orange on me and old. I have found a use for it though. Because it is unscented (I have sensitive skin) and unusually fine textured (for L'oreal) I've found it works well for me as an eyeshadow! Now I use the bronzer as the eye contour, and the highlighter side on my brow bone and cheekbone. It gives me a quick co-ordinated glowy look.
I like this product, but I have to knock off a star for the bulky flimsy packaging and horrible scratchy brush. To get to the mirror you have to swing the pan up and the hinge feels as though its going to break anytime. Like my eyeshadow trio hinge did that I brought recently from the same L'oreal line . The half-moon brush is found tucked under the mirror there. I don't like the brush, I tried with with several blushes and it did not apply them smoothly. It felt rough and reddened my skin so I threw it away.
This swinging pan set up L'oreal favors lately is really getting up my nose lately me to the point I've seriously considered de-potting them (I have a couple of eye trios and blushes also). I wish L'oreal would go back to making proper slimline compacts with the mirror on top! I like to use the mirrors for touchups and the way those compacts are set up is awkward.
As someone who has very pale skin, I am always very wary of bronzers, however this product has restored my faith in them. It looks very natural and is easily built up to the level of colour desired. It works very well to contour cheek bones and to give an overall natural glow to my skin. While it is expensive for a bronzer, I doubt I will be running out any time soon. This colour is especially suited to pale people, who want a natural looking bronzed glow :)
I just recieved this today as a free gift if you spend over £15 on L'oreal products. I got this (full sized!) a Colour Riche lippy and eyeliner all full sized again!
Anyhow, this bronzer is stunning! Its for blondes admittedly, Im black haired (dyed) and fair skinned so think this looks lovely on!!! Its got a nice shimmer to it (im all for shimmer!) and doesnt look muddy at all, like some bronzers!
I doubt ill need to re-purchase soon, but when i eventually need to I defo will!
I really like this bronzer. Its so nice to have a bronzer and a highlighter in the same product, and the look so good on. I use the Blonde 101, and it looks great. There is a shimmer effect to it, so its not a ''naturel'' looking bronzer, but its georgeous. The downside about it is the price. You dont get a lot because its both a highlighter and a bronzer in the small package. And another downside i found was that i breaks ''easily''. I drop my thinks a lot, and one time on the floor and its smashed.. otherwise its GREAT!!
this is a very nice bronzer. it doesnt make you look muddy. it has two sides, one is kind of a highlighter and the other side is a bronzer. its not very shimmery either ,nor is it completely matte... it also comes with a little brush and mirror but the brush is completely useless.so i would suggest a bigger powder/blush brush to apply it because then it blends beautifully.theres a lot of product in there so it will last a long time.
so for blondes this is a really nice suttle bronzer . dont know about repurchasing yet...
