to be honest this color is amazing on everyone. this is a deep vampy purple and it's clearly going to look different on different people with different coloring. on me this is a very flattering shade that brings out my eyes and adds a nice contrast to my skin. everyone should give it a try or try something similar

Best dark purple lipstick I have found yet. Its deep, dark, opaque, and super vampy. It lasts a long time, and has a perfect matte finish. Not for the faint of heart!

I'm a massive fan of MAC and have seven of their lipsticks-Lady Bug, Dubonnet, Pink Nouveau, Saint Germain, Creme D'Nude, Angel, Hue and Myth. I can now add an eighth to that collection, as I have just purchased Media and boy, does it deliver! I wanted a really dark gothic lip that suited my features and it definitely did the job. The plummy tones compliment my skin tone and the reddish tones bring out the green in my hazel eyes. I love the drama of the colour (and it IS dramatic) and as soon as I put it on it have my confidence. Would definitely recommend it to someone looking for a vampy lipstick-works best paired with black liquid liner and mascara. The only criticism is that it may not be universally wearable and perhaps too dramatic for a casual occasion x

I really think this lipstick fits better on women of color, especially warmer shades of caramel and light brown. I love how striking the color is against my skin and with it the trick is to not do a heavy eye in the daytime! The lips will say it all...I've gotten a lot of compliments from Media and I really love the intensity of the shade. This is one of those lipsticks that doesnt work for everyone. I would've given it 5 stars but the hardest part with dark lips is lining it correctly, for this you would need a lip liner to get everything just perfect but I didnt feel to shell out an extra $15 dollars.

Absolutely beautiful for fall. Suited my nc20 to nc25 skin tone...it definitely makes me look exotic. Very Berenice Marlowe and conplemented my Asian features. I hate dark lip colors or those that resemble grape Popsicle stains, but this one is elegant and wears well without looking witchy or goth.

Wow wow wee wah!
Walked into MAC with the intention of buying Dark Side. Found Media instead. (Dark Side wasn't dark enough, ironically...)
Immediately after trying it on, I started getting compliments. The girls at the MAC store even started saying how it made them want to have a dark-lip-themed day. I felt so pretty.
Went to work at Hot Topic after leaving MAC and one of my coworkers stopped in her tracks, stared at my lips, and said "Oh my goodness! That lip color is GORGEOUS!"
Ten minutes later, a customer was at the checkout and turned to me and said "Wow! I LOVE that lipstick! It's beautiful!"
So yeah, any lip color that scores me three compliments in the span of twenty minutes is an instant win.
Again, the Satin formula is on point, just like Cyber. It's creamy, goes on smooth and evenly, and has minimal feathering. So far, the Satin formula feels like the most moisturizing as well, which I really like since it feels less slick on the lips than the Amplified Creme.
100% in love. Perhaps a new HG lip color for Autumn/Winter.

For reference I am an NC40 in MAC/ No.7 in Giorgio Armani LSF.

I hardly ever wear anything on my lips, at the most it stretches to tinted Vaseline when my lips are exceptionally dry. However, having seen the gothic/vampy make-up trend in various magazines, on catwalks, on girls, I too decided I want to give this look a go.
So off I went to MAC, and initially had decided to get Dark Side. I decided to try all the other colours in this spectrum and now, I'm very glad I did.
I first tried Cyber which is a true purple gothic colour, looked nice enough on me but not very wearable at all.
Dark Side was too pink once I had tried it on, I wanted it to be darker, more blood like.
Then I tried on Media...and I was in love.
Hang up - Is exactly like Media but with a sheen, Media is more matte.

Shade: It's a dark burgundy/dark wine/blood colour, very vampy and really suited my skin colour. The shade can be built up very quickly with a few swipes. After applying the lipstick, the MAC MUA recommended Nightmoth Lipliner with it, which goes perfectly, and it makes it ever so slightly darker - Lipliner for me is a must for it did bleed noticeablely on me without it.
The colour pops on my skin and everyone commented (postively!) on it, I even got a few vampire references so I guess I made the right impression!
The one thing I do like about this is, it doesn't make my teeth look yellow. I thought it would but was pleasantly surprised!

Texture: Media isn't too drying, but neither is it moisturising. So I have always exfoliated and applied lip balm before applying this lipstick. It isn't too forgiving on dry, patchy lips as it can settle in lines. After a few hours, if it does start drying or settling I applied a clear Bobbi Brown lipgloss very lightly and it was good to go.

Longevity: The lipstick with lipliner lasted a good 3-4 hours for me, I'm not sure if this is good or bad since I don't wear lipsticks, and even after it wears off you're left with a nice lipstain like you've been out in the cold for ages.
I tried the foundation on lips and then apply lipstick trick but for me, that made it come off much quicker and cleaner, ie no lipstain as mentioned above. (however I did demolish nachos at this point so it could be partly due to that)

Overall, I LOVE this lipstick and I love how confident and 'new' it makes you feel.

I LOVE this lipstick. I told the girl at MAC that I wanted a vampy lip and this is awesome. Will buy over and over and over again until I find something better.

So basically....I LOVE wine/purple-ish lip colors. This is just another great one i've added to my collection. I tend to smudge it instead of using it straight out of the tube. If you use it out of the tube, it's a very rich plum color. If not, it's more of a light berry. I use it all the time with the Desire lipglass. Only problem I have with it is that it is a matte, which means you better condition your lips.
