Before buying this product you should know this has a wax based formula; some people may not like the feel, but I simply love it. I've read some reviews claiming this to be matte and I have to disagree, it gives a pleasant sheen which I believe would be okay with men too. The smell is slightly odd, not in a bad way just that I've never smelled anything like it before. This doesn't usually wear very well through eating and drinking, but if you're doing neither it stays on rather well. Applying this product is very easy, enough so that you need to be careful or you'll use too much. It should also be noted that you have to be consistent with this product, it looks pretty horrendous on dry lips. The first couple days of using it are what I think of as an adjustment period; the dead skin on your lips mixes with the wax and balls up in such a way I personally felt the need to scrape it off. While starting to use it I thought it wasn't working, but if you just persevere through a couple unattractive days you should see great results.

I went to an Aveda concept school and this was one of the first products that I tried. Lip Saver is a wonderful little lip balm with a matte finish. It is thick, but smooth on application with a lovely scent that reminds me of gummi candy :D The natural ingredients and SPF 15 are bonuses. I haven't found the need to be constantly applying this as it is nice and thick (but not heavy) so its staying power is longer than those other lip balms that are too thin and need constant reapplication. My only gripe is that it is a bit on the expensive side. I bought this for my friend and she absolutely loves it. I would buy it again perhaps after I use up all my other lip balms. I have a ton and am trying to use it all up before buying a new one, but lip saver is on my list :)

This is one of the best lip balms I've used, but probably not the best. I really like the scent of this balm, but it is a little sticky and if you drink anything after applying it, it leaves sticky balm and a heavy scent on the rim of whatever you're drinking. I like Nivea Kiss of Moisture much better.

I LOVE this lip balm. It's pricey but worth it. It's moisturising, not too sticky, the flavour is not overpowering. I'm always sad when I run out of this.

I am a chapstick addict, and Aveda is the best I've found so far. I dislike anything minty or tingly on my lips, so read this review with that in mind. I use it several times a day and at any given time have 3 tubes going that I try desperately to keep track of, as it is rather pricey. I swipe this on and then cover with gloss (Revlon "Shine City" or Philosophy "pink frosted cookie") to make it stay on longer (otherwise I need a re-coat every hour or two!) and to give me a little bit of shine. Please note, this product alone has no shine.
If I'm getting ready for a big night out I make sure to swipe some on as soon as I'm out of the shower, let it sit and then, right before leaving, wipe it off and put on my lipliner, lipstick, and gloss.
Other lip balms I've tried: The Body Shop Shea Butter (this one is pretty good), Cherry chapstick (does nothing), Neutrogena Naturals (minty), Burt's Bee's (minty), Carmex (ouch!).
The only things I don't like about this lip saver - the price, and the slightly herby/natural taste/smell it has. The second is easily rectified by putting a gloss coat over it.

One of the best lip balms I have used. I loved Chap Stick Natural then had some trouble finding it so I bought this on a whim during an Aveda trip. Goes on smooth and is great under lipstick. The packaging is so-so. Having the adjustment at the top is a bit awkward. The price is nearly triple the chapstick price but I get more out of the product and my lips look and feel healthier.

Truly did save my winter-chapped lips! Also has spf and a nice feel, plus a matte look that lasts hours. I find this is also good under lipstick, especially matte lipstick that tends to be drying. Great!

HG lip balm! I've used this off and on for over 10 years now, I stray only because the price is a little ridiculous. Originally discovered this as a teen when I was on Accutane, it was the only thing that saved me from having cracked, bleeding lips. It's still the best lasting, most moisturizing balm that I've found.

This is not a review rave, but Lip Saver is not a bad product. It's just not what I was in the market for. The formula after applied is a bit too matte for what I typically look for. The receptionist at my spa recommended this whole heartedly as did the woman having her hair done in the next room. I was so disappointed I didn't love this. I save this for when I am working outside. With the SPF and matte finish it's perfect for the sun. Not for me, but a quality product none the less.

This product just isn't meant for me. I wanted to like it, but we just aren't compatible.
First of all, I prefer lip balms that twist up from the bottom as opposed to the top. Weird, perhaps, and probably irrelevant, but that's my preference. I also don't like SPF in my lip balm. I know that sunscreen is important, but lip balms with SPF typically feel thicker and goopier to me, which brings me to my next point. I really dislike how thick and sticky this product is; this is my biggest beef with this Lip Saver. It's almost like a lip gloss, which I don't wear because I don't like thick and sticky stuff on my lips. So that was a miss for me. Also, it's very, very expensive.
What I did like was the scent (very calming/spa-like), the fact that it is very moisturizing and that it lasts on my lips for a long time. However, these pros just aren't enough to convince me to finish the tube I have, let alone repurchase. I'll give it to my mom, who likes thicker products. I don't recommend this product to anyone who likes lightweight lip balms, because this definitely isn't one.

Love this product. I have had my Lip Saver for quite some time, and it just works with all of my makeup shades/hues and tones. Keeps my lips moisturized and hydrated, love the way they feel - not sticky and last for quite some time.

Fantastic every day lip balm. Nothing fancy, but feels wonderful on and has a really subtle scent. It's a bit pricey, but a good product and if you're a Pure Privilege member you can often get lots of bonus point for adding one to your online order. They're great to keep at work, travel bag, gym bag, etc.

I saw this product at the checkout counter every time I got my haircut, but I never gave it any thought, as I'd never really had any good experiences with Aveda products before. A friend had this while I was out one time and I tried it, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had basically the same experience as the reviewer below me. I've ALWAYS had super chapped, dry lips- I must admit, I'm a serial lip-licker. This is the only product that has really soothed and moisturized my chronically chapped lips. I apply it and the flakes (i know, ew) just melt away, and are kept at bay for hours.

Aveda's Lip Saver is one of the ONLY things that work on my lips. I've had extremely dry, chapped lips since I was a child, and my parents could never find anything to heal them - maybe because they were using cheap pharmacy brands. The first time I tried this around a couple years ago, I was AMAZED. Within two application a LIFETIME of chapped lips instantly went away. I love how well it glides on. I like to put on a generous layer, but a little bit goes a long way (which is great because it's a little expensive), and it lasts at least through half the day. Recently I've been experimenting with other nice lip balm companies, but I'll always remember what Lip Saver did for me,and I'll never hesitate to buy it again.
Here's a tip: Aveda gives you a certain amount in your birthday month off of your purchase. Try it out on your birthday month so you dont have to pay the full price! I ran out during December this one time, and in addition to my bday discount thery were having ANOTHER sale on top of that, so I ended up paying 85 CENTS for it! No lie!

Picked this up one day on whim after getting my hair done and it was the BEST decision. In the winter my lips are constantly chapped, and most products would just coat my lips and not treat them. I was using rosebud salve before this, it was nice but honestly this is the HG of lip balm.

I love this product! It smells lovely, comes in a hygenic applicator (no dirty fingers!) and once applied, stays on for AGES and really nourishes my lips. Without question the best lipbalm I've ever used.

God, I can't believe a $12 lip balm is WORTH IT.
HG. Best ever.

This was suggested to me by the young lady who does my massages. It worked the first couple of days, but then it seemed to dry my lips out instead of providing moisture. I had read outstanding reviews on the Aveda website, but I was not satisfied, especially because of the price.
