*Maybelline Color Sensational color purchase: "Ruby Star"
*Price: $5.59 @Target
*About product color & my goal: This "Ruby Star" shade was in the group of "Reds". The nice thing about this Maybelline line is it categorizes the shades into the colors "Reds", "Pinks", "Browns", "Plums", "Neutral/Nude", etc... That said, "Ruby" this is not to me. When I think of "Ruby" though, I think a deeper red close to wine to blood red. However, my goal was to purchase a creamy low budget lipstick with a poppy fuschia/pink-red color (cool toned) that I can wear on special occasions or going out. I usually wear neutrals for every day casual and did not want to spend department store price on the occasional for fun lipstick color. This "Ruby Star" is indeed the fuschia/pink-red on my otherwise dull mauve natural lips that I was hoping for. Has tiny bits of shimmer and looks sheen, not sparkly nor overdramatic at all. Color looks great on my Asian with yellow and olive tones.
*Texture & staying power: Goes on smoothly, creamy, moisturizing. No drying out, no feathering. Great staying power for a drug store lipstick, fades gracefully as one other reviewer mentioned. Need to reapply after eating, drinking, kissing, of course... I do not expect "long lasting/non-budging" -it is not advertised this way. But overall, most of the color has stayed on after my eating, almost just as much as my NARS and MAC cream lipsticks stay on. This bleeds just a tad but I don't mind that at all, I don't prefer the more polished look, but some of you might. I wear this by itself, no liner. But I do wear a lip conditioner every night which I think helps all my lipsticks go on smoother.
*Packaging: Silver toned tube with a see through-wine colored cover. A basic package to me. I don't care much for packaging though some of you may.
*Scent: Smells like a mix of rose and clay to me if I really sniff it. But scents don't bother nor irritate my lips. For some of you, it may though.
*I would recommend this particular color if you too are looking for that fuschia, pink-red color, especially for the price! I would repurchase, trying different reds and pinks in the cooler and brighter tones of this Maybelline Color Sensational line if the local drug stores and Target continue to carry. Drug store lipsticks can be so hit and miss and everyone's skin tone is different. So the "Ruby" may indeed look more 'Ruby" on some of you. continued >>

I got this for a wedding. I wanted a tone down look so I got the following:
PINK PEONY: It's the Barbie Doll kind of color. Goes on kind of sheer and satiny. I didn't like the way it looked on my skin. While I was doing my make up, I still looked fresh and natural and when I put it on, suddenly my faced looked dark all over, haggard, and the color totally did not go with the look I was trying to achieve: toned down. Plus, the color sort of bleeds, and there was somewhat a dark shadow under my lips as if I had rubbed lipstick off my lips and reapplied it.
YUMMY PLUMMY: i loved this. It's like it brought the natural, even color back into my lips. You wouldn't know it was there unless you looked closely, and the color totally complements my skin tone. Will definitely buy this again, and most other shades in the browns and nudes.
OVERALL: Unlike any other lipstick I've owned (Avon was a huge mistake and a waste of money), this is so NOT DRYING! I love how it actually lasts for about half a day, and like the review of one here, it sort of fades away and still leaves colors on the lips. There's a funny, 'plumping' feeling though, which I really don't mind. My lips don't dry up and peel, so I'm not worried about dead skin on my lips. Overall, I will will will buy this again.
UPDATE:
I realized that since the Pink Peony was too Barbie Pink and the Yummy Plummy was very natural, I swiped a layer of Pink Peony on top of the Yummy Plummy and that made my Yummy Plummy a Peony Plummy! a lighter, brighter plum! Much nicer! I'll be able to use both after all!

Velet Beige 630
I love this lipstick! It is a perfect colour match for the natural shade of my lips so when I apply it, you can't actually tell that I have lipstick on. It enhances the overall appearance. This means it can go with any outfit and is great for everyday wear.
Packaging is cute, sleek. Nothing special but hey, the product itself is great. It glides on so smoothly and to help I put on a tad (literally) of Carmex. It lasts well as long as I don't eat (haha, so it's never really lasted that long with me). Will buy other shades and highly recommended! :)

What I like about these lipsticks are how pigmented they are. I've swatched several in store, and they're all very true to color. I decided to purchase color #547 Pleasure Me Red. It's a very bright red with pink undertones. Since this was purchased in the UK, the price was about £7.
These particular lipsticks needs a lip brush. Really, you will not get around applying it in any other way. It gets messy easily, and once it's there, it's hard to wipe off without smearing or ruining other makeup that was previously applied on. For me, this is slightly irritating, as I prefer my lipsticks to be an item I can use when I'm on the go and doesn't need the most anal precision ever to look good. You will most likely get a lot of excess on during application either way, so blotting is necessary. The staying power is relatively decent; It lasted me about 4 hours before fading became obvious. I do like how it disappears, though. It doesn't have random, uncolored splotches, but a gentle fading that leaves your lips with a nice tint. If kissing someone or eating and drinking, this lipstick will rub off.
A big disappointment about this lipstick is the packaging it comes in. It's incredibly flimsy and cheap looking. It has this sheer, red plastic cap that looks like it'll break easily or slip off the tube when in your bag. It's not sturdy at all.
If you don't have high expectations for your lipsticks, or if you're on a budget, this is something worth purchasing. It's so average, that it's neither a HG product or something you should totally discard.

I have two of these: Pink Please (025) and Warm Me Up (235)
I love "Pink Please!" I found it in a discount bin in my local CVS and I haven't seen it on the shelf since. (Discontinued??) If it has been, I need a dupe. It's a neutral petal pink with just enough brightness to be trendy, but neutral enough to be wearable and versatile.
"Warm me Up" was a little disappointing. It was more mauve-y than intended (I seems to be collecting various shades of pinky-mauve) and darker. But I like it as a Fall/Winter neutral.
Packaging is nice and solid, better than one would come to expect for drugstore brand and the colors are great. The texture is a little thick and waxy and the smell (Paraffin marshmallow) is a little odd. They might as well have left it unscented.

I have 2 lipsticks from this collection: Red Revival and Pink and Proper
Red Revival:
I love this colour. It has that whole pinup look to it and it does not wash out my olive complexion. The best part about this is that I can wear it by itself for that amazing true red look, or pair it with a sheer lipgloss to tone it down and make it more wearable for every day, as long as it is used with a light hand. I didn't give it 5 lippies because it does dry out my lips when I use it, but lip balm under can fix that. As well as I've seen cuter packaging, because I am a sucker for that. But other than that it is an amazing product. I will repurchase when it runs out
Pink and Proper
Not as great as red revival, I find this wears off much quicker and bleeds much more. However, this is great to add a great pink tint to my nude lipsticks that gave me concealer lips. A little dab of this and a blend and my nude lipsticks don't wash me out. Work by itself is ehhhh, it gives that whole I'M WEARING LIPSTICK LOOK NOW look. I won't be repurchasing this one.

I have perchased this product from ulta in the color pink and proper number 20. The color: is a bright almost deep pink with small shimmers. Its glossy and applies nicely. Packaging: I like that they have catagorized them into pink, pearls, plums, ect. And i also like that its a long rectangle lid that slidesover the lipstick. But when you wind up the whole lipstick there is not alot of product and the smell is a werid sweet smell but is not too bad to tolerate. And i would recomend this.

I hated this lipstick. Colors are beautiful but the smell/ taste/ feel were aufull. It wears off quickly and unevenly, went bad really fast too. Waste of money.

my feelings are very mixed when it comes to this lipstick line. when it's good, it's really good. when it's bad, it's reeeally bad.
i bought three of these (and a lip gloss) when walgreens was having a BOGO1/2 on maybelline products. the three shades i got were bit of berry, warm me up, and coral crush. i wanted coral crush because i read somewhere that it was a dupe for MAC's toxic tale. and apparently bit of berry is a dupe for MAC's craving as well. i don't actually own any MAC, but that's what i've heard! so i picked them up. i loved warm me up and bit of berry. coral crush...not so much.
ok, let me go over the positives. the two shades that did work slide on nicely without tugging and were extremely pigmented. they don't settle into lines. they didn't dry my lips out, though they weren't particularly moisturizing either. the shades were also gorgeous. they last for a while without fading, too. they would probably be my favorite line of drugstore lipsticks....if it weren't for the negatives.
now, the negatives. they smell. like playdoh. i don't mind much, but i know others will. the smell doesn't linger around after application. however, coral crush smelled like straight up crayons. it turns out that coral crush had gone bad. i was soooo pissed when i tried to put it on, and the color wouldn't even show up. it actually made my lips burn. someone probably opened it in-store then put it back on the shelf. that's another thing i don't like. the fact that you can open the lipstick in store, which leads to it going bad. though apparently these lipsticks go bad fast anyway! i mean rimmel lipsticks can be opened in-store, yet i've never had this problem with them! so maybelline needs to fix this, asap.
despite all this, however, i would buy these lipsticks again, if only because they're really pretty. i would just have to make sure that they haven't gone bad before i buy them, which unfortunately involves sniffing them (the people who work at my local walgreens already think i'm weird, though, so whatever). i'm going to try buying coral crush again in spring, because it's such a pretty color and i'm dumb like that haha. but yeah. be careful when buying these lipsticks!

I have it in sweet pink, but i think its too glittery/shimmery. I want to find a pinky nude one from this line and i guess that shade isn't the on I'm looking for. But the texture is nice. Whats with the smell though?

I'm amazed that I'm so late discovering Maybelline's lipsticks. I bought two this weekend - Dusty Rose, from the Color Sensational range, and Pure Plum, from the Moisture Extreme range, and am super-satisfied with both. Great quality, lasts four or five hours at a stretch, does not feather, and fades gracefully.
I originally paid a visit to the MAC store and then just got annoyed by their usual pale, western colours that make olive-skinned South Asian women like myself look like we have pneumonia. I've fallen prey to these shades before, and have several very expensive MAC lipsticks lying around that I'm simply unable to use. I moved on to the Maybelline counter and discovered that Maybelline sells its lipsticks at ONE-FIFTH the price of MAC, their range of colours is far more exciting and experimental, and the quality of their stuff is very satisfying. I've also discovered that these lipsticks are truly moisturising and do not dry out your lips at the end of the day, unlike many other brands.
Will recommend and repurchase without a doubt.

I really liked the color payoff of these lipsticks, they were all so vibrant. But the same was an odd fake, fruity scent that made me kinda sick. And I found them to be very drying. They left a cakey residue on my lips.

I bought Golden Brown, Pink Brown and Coral Fever.
Considering the popularity of these lipstick I thought that they would be a good buy, a wonderful purchase which would be on par with their lip glosses (which I genuinely adore). However, a different ending resulted.
Scent: All 3 lipsticks have a sweet but plastic scent. Now I'm all for sweetness and I don't mind artificial scents too much. But this fragrance made me want to hurl when I first sniffed Golden Brown. However Pink Brown and Coral Fever seem less intense and a bit more like toffee but, still not pleasant to me.
Colour
Golden Brown: Looks like a burst of Golden Glitter on my lips with just a hint of brown. Not something I reach to often if at all, its nice to play with but I wouldn't swipe and go with this.
Pink Brown: I thought this would be a pink shade with a warm brown undercurrent that would have depth and richness. Instead the colour is rather frosty, against my dark skin it looks quite pale with golden/silvery glitter. Personally I would warm it up with a brown lip gloss or at least add something to get rid of its pale luminosity.
Coral Fever: Has lots of silvery shimmery glitter which overtakes the orange red colour that comes through on my lips.Again I would use a lip gloss with this to either add to the orange or red colour of this.
Overall the colours are not really special to me. The formulae is often drying giving a patchy appearance on the lips with a gritty glittery look but not feel. Maybe its the colours I have chosen but I'll be avoiding these in the foreseeable future and maybe stick to the lip glosses, if ever in need of a Maybelline lip fix.

I really wanted to love this, have several colours... but... no. It just goes on blotchy, and i get clumps of lip colour on my lips after a few minutes... yuck, yuck, yuck! I love the colour selection, but the texture is yucky, the formula looks horrible on my lips, and i won't buy this again - ever.

I bought this lipstick in Plum Paradise, which is a gorgeous fall color, however, this lipstick went on extremely blotchy, even after I exfoliated my lips, Within minutes it dried up on my lips, leaving 'chunks' of flakey, mottled lipstick. In my opinion there was nothing moisturizing about this lipstick - quite the contrary - blotchy, dry, flakey, uneven mess. And it has a weird waxey odor to it.
What a waste of money :-(

I love this lipstick! it has so many colors to choose from but right now i only have 'make me pink'. the formula is creamy and not too sticky. stays on for quite a while and if you like matte lipstick but not dry, this is for you. it gives a tiny bit of shine without looking too wet. the price is good for the quality of the product and the packaging is cute! the only thing is that the silver part of the tube came out of the bottom but i just screwed it back on. i will definitely buy many more of these!
**its very comparable to rimmel moisture renew! which i love...
