It worked great while it worked. It unexpectedly quit working within 6 months of purchase. Unfortunately, my daughter kept all original packaging & warranty, but can't locate the shipping invoice and they will not honor their warranty without it. I quit buying Chi's because they only lasted about a year. The Hai was worse. Even if you hold on to your receipt and can return it, who wants to go without a hair iron while you have to ship it back! continued >>

I had a GHD, but it started turning off on me so I was on the search for a new flat iron. I didn't want to spend that amount of money again so I was looking for a cheaper alternative. I saw that this had great reviews and even the lower-end irons by Hai had great reviews (like the Hai convertible, which my mom got). She was happy with her Hai, but she has very fine, thinning, pretty straight hair. I went with the Hai Elite Nano XT hoping for better results but I was disappointed. I have to admit the blades went through smoothly, but it didn't feel like "butter". I started off around 350 degrees for my normal, wavy hair and it didn't do much. So I hired the temperature, but that didn't help. Maybe it's just my hair texture (somewhat coarse?) or maybe my technique, but I'm only willing to give this iron one more try. If it doesn't perform better, it's going back to Folica.

This is the best flatiron I've tried! No more nagging feeling like "Yeah, this is nice...but is there better out there?" My search is over! Previously, my iron of choice was the HAI Convertable. But sometimes it looked a little too obviously flat ironed. My Convertable lasted 7 years before it finally broke (one last drop broke the camel's back). I've also tried the GHD for a week before I returned it (the results were nice, but did not warrant the hefty price tag in the least), and the FHI was just terrible (don't know which one, but it was the pink 1"). I debated between getting a new Convertable or a Solia, but my sister had just bought the HAI Elite so I tested it out. OMG...why hasn't everyone been raving about this??? It's all GHD, CHI, Solia and Sedu here on MUA. The Elite is awesome! I can straighten my hair in one pass, and I don't even have to use the highest setting to get my coarse, wavy hair silky smooth and straight like I did with the all the other irons I've tried. It glides though like butter (didn't even get the analogy until I tried this), no snagging at all. It doesn't give the dreaded flat ironed look. It looks naturally smooth and straight and still retains volume (not pouf). And it is so lightweight, it seems barely heavier than some of my larger round hairbrushes! Yay! No more aching arms to finish my long, thick hair! I've had this iron for a couple of months now and there's no dryness or damage to my hair...so far so good. I only wish this came in a 1 1/4" size like the Convertable (this is a 1" iron). A sturdy silver colored carrying case is also included. I cannot say enough good things about this iron! If this broke tomorrow, I wouldn't even bother researching another one. I would buy this again in a heartbeat, no hesitation at all.

I have to agree with Swine. This flat iron has made a HUGE difference in my hair. I only make one pass as well. I have kinky, curly unprocessed hair. This flat iron makes my hair silky and straight. I am quite impressed. For reference, I have tried the Babyliss, CHI, and HAI convertible flat irons. This is the best flat iron for me. This flat iron is temperature controlled which is very important to me. It's highest maximum temperature is 390 degrees.

This is THE best iron I've used. It turns my horribly frizzy curly/wavy/poofy mess of hair into straight/silky/shiny/frizz-free gorgeousness in about 10 minutes. I usually just need one pass for each section of hair. I never get any damage. It's absolutely as good as GHD, but at half the price & it has temp control (which GHD should have but doesn't). I used to have the Hai Convertable, which is nice but this one is much better -- it straightens better and quicker. continued >>
