This is a gel to oil formula makeup remover. It comes out jelly, but when you warm it up between your palms and massage it on your face, it becomes sort of an oil texture, thus it's really effective of removing makeup. And since it's aim for sensitive skin, it is very gentle. Also it's a good value of money, actually I think it acts basically same as its "more expensive sister" EST cleansing gel (both are from KAO).
Not to be a pain, but the official name for this product, as printed on the tube container, is "makeup cleansing gel," though the MUA title "gel makeup remover" is an accurate descriptor. One of Curel's most popular products, it is developed for sensitive skin and praised for being incredibly gentle. And gentle it is--it can effectively remove eye makeup and foundation without causing pain of any sort. Even when you get bits of it into the eye, it does not sting. Impressive. But this is a good product tempered by bad presentation. I do not like the gel texture, which I find to be inferior to both liquid and cream. Liquid or cream can thoroughly soak the cotton pads so you barely feel the pads when wiping off makeup. The less of the pads you feel, the more your sensitive skin appreciates it. Soaking the pads with this gel requires an uneconomical amount, which can only be bad news because the tube container had none of the virtues of a pump or a bottle, and makes dispensing quite messy.
I used a few tubes of this. It's not a bad product, it's gentle enough and efficient enough. If you use this for all the makeup on your face, including eye makeup, you end up using a lot of it everytime and the tube runs out fast.
I stopped using it because of the paraben in it.
The Japanese Curel skincare line is terrific! The makeup remover is a favorite of mine. It's a clear gel in a squeeze tube (pump would be easier but still easy to use). You take about an almond-sized blob and rub it all over your face - it spreads really well. Even my waterproof mascara/liner comes off. You can either rinse off with cool/lukewarm water, or sometimes when I'm lazy I just wipe off with a tissue and use a toner or Bioderma to get off any excess. Leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, and the 130g tube seems to last quite a while!
Like all the Curel skincare, it's fragrance/coloring/alcohol-free, but the very last ingredient is "paraben" so if you're trying to avoid em, you're out of luck.
