I adore the texture of this sunscreen, it's just like a light moisturizing milk. It's a little white at first but then aren't they all. As the previous reveiewer has said it wears very well under makeup, it even gives a gentle glow.
The spray is non-aerosol yet has a strong jet. As a general rule, spray sunscreens are a good idea for those with greasy skin because the product has to be thin enough to pass through the nozzle so oily girls should always lookout for sprays.
This is spf 50 and supposed to be broad spectrum to block out the majority of UVA AND UVB rays. The UVAs are the ageing ones and UVBs the burning ones. I like the fact it is a physical and NOT a chemical sunblock because sometimes when I use LRP Anthelios I can feel and taste the sunscreen even though I don't put any on my lips. After a while using that I do wonder what the long term effects will be.
Effectiveness: Sadly, I have to see more evidence from Avene that this gives the protection it claims. What is the Pigment Protection in it, for example? La Rosay has a factor of 28 -32 in their highest sunblocks and yet Avene don't say what their's is. The price to pay for not having the chemical Mexoryl in it is that I'm suspicious of the protection it provides.
Avene, please publish this data on the PPD and reassure us of the broad spectrum protection. This is all that is stopping me from rating this as a HG sunblock and buying it again.

This review is for the European version, all-chemical. This is the most cosmetically elegant sunscreen I've tried, but I'm not happy with it. It spreads easily and wears beautifully under makeup. It's supposedly photostable and broad-spectrum. However, I've noticed I'm getting some colour on my face and arms, and I reapply frequently. Considering my staple sunscreen (Ombrelle SPF 30 Lotion) rarely lets me get even a hint of a tan, I'm sticking with the Ombrelle. I gave this a high rating overall because it's lovely to wear and is wonderful for my very clog-prone skin, but I will not repurchase. EDITED TO ADD: I think the reason this didn't work for me was the lack of Avobenzone. It seems the sunscreens that work well for me all have Avobenzone in them.

This is fragrance free, UVA < 3 (meaning 16-17 at the minimum, probably more like 20 though). This is stamped on the back of the bottle (SPF/UVA < 3) just look below the ingredients. It is a thin liquid that spreads easily. No white cast, but does remain very shiny. No irritation or stinging on application either. I have found that applying a thin layer of Mac Prep and Prime, waiting a few minutes, then powdering over this leaves a very nice finish, with only a little shine breakthrough as the day progresses. AND the whole shine-cutting routine only takes 10 minutes. As the day wore on I got no weird allover cast, and no pilling, streaking, or balling up later in the day! It is water resistant, and stays on very well through heat and humidity.
3 days in a row of use, and I have no extra breakouts, rashes, or increased skin sensitivity.
Update: raised to a 5. This is easily matted down using silica powder, and leaves my skin looking wonderful after several days in a row of use.
Update: The 2012 version has avobenzone, and is irritating to my skin. Will no longer repurchase this...unless they remove the avobenzone
