I've always been very adamant about sun protection. Big time. SPF 15 minimum in the winter and SPF 30 in the summer. So when I fell in love with the Esthederm line, I was a little dissapointed with their suncare formulations... no titanium dioxide or parsol or any of the other active ingredients I've been trained to look for.
That is until I read an article about the founder and CEO of the company, in which he explained the company's sun protection philosophy (I can hear you saying it, sun is our worst enemy, but his approach is actually getting some interest on the part of reknowned scientists).
The basic philosophy is that we've over protected our skin with high SPF over the years, actually making it (over time) more prone to sunburn and sun damage. The Esthederm philosophy is to protect the skin from the sun, but not to shield it completely. They call it "re-educating the skin" to tolerate the sun.
And so, that is why, even though this product does not contain titanium dioxide, avobenzone or parsol, I still decided to purchase it. And boy do I not regret it!
I've always had problems finding a day cream that wouldn't leave me looking like an oil slick by 11 a.m. Well, this is it for me!! It doesn't leave my skin dried out either, it's like the perfect balance of hydrated and matte.
So even though it's price is quite ridiculous ($91CAD), I will keep purchasing this day cream until something better comes along.
EDIT: This product makes me quite oily, therefore I have stopped using and will not repurchase.
