I don't even know how to begin to describe this. I am still in awe that it works like it does on my shoulder length, super fine, dry, frizzy, color treated hair. My hair looks like I just came from my stylist every day, shortens drying time, adds volume, and reduces frizz. I first use Redken's 07 Layer LIft as a root lifter, then about a nickel size, rub it between my palms to melt it and run it through damp hair from roots to end, then style as usual. My hair has never looked better, even in my youth. Great line of products.

My hairdresser uses this on me, and to my delight, I've been able to recreate the same blowout at home when using this gel! Velvet gelatin cuts down my drying time, adds volume and just a smidge of hold... it's as if it gives my hair a "memory" of the style, allowing me to wear it for 3 days with virtually no breakdown. This reduces frizz but adds no heavy gloss (hence the "natural shine" description), which means hair looks and feels cleaner for longer. While this product isn't perfect (strong cologne-type fragrance, pricey), it's a great tool in achieving a professional look, even for very curly hair.

This is another HG hair product for me. I discovered this at the beginning of the summer when my hair needed it the most. Every time I blew my hair straight and flat ironed it, I had problems with frizz and my hair kinking and "blowing up" as soon as I spent a little time outside in the humidity. However, this stuff eliminates that! I just use a dime sized amount, rub it between my palms and apply to my damp hair before heat styling. I find that I don't even really need a brush with this stuff, it does a really good job of getting the kinks and frizz out of my hair and it also speeds my drying time up so I'm not blasting my hair with dryer heat for 20 minutes! I'm able to run the flat iron over my hair to smooth it and out the door I go! I also love the fact that it keeps my hair straight with a little volume all day without frizz! This stuff is a miracle in a bottle and I absolutely love the woodsy, fresh smell!

This gel works miracles on my hair. It makes it look like I am good at blow drying my hair, which I am not! I agree with all of the previous reviewers in that it is fairly expensive but worth the money. It provides volume and helps smooth my frizz-prone hair during blow drying. I like the soft smell as well.

Yep! This is really good stuff. Amazing actually. I had a really difficult time getting myself to buy this stuff. Gel just jumps out at me. Gelatine, gel, it was the same thing in my head. Then a major magazine was saying it gives amazing blowouts, and so I had to have it. So I bought it. Another major magazine said Redken Color Extend Shampoo AND Conditioner were Reader's Choice Favorites and that stuff is just plain garbage, or should I say money down the drain. I'm so glad I bought this before I got that copy of Allure, because if I had read Allure touting Color Extend, then I never would have bought this. It smells wonderful. I mix a few drops of Redken Glass (I can't break my silicone hair serum habit) with this, and then blow dry. Amazing blowouts, and my hair is so soft. I will be repurchasing until something else WOWs me. Remember, a little goes a long way with this product.

Came here just to read the reviews and have to add mine---I love this! I'm not that good at blow-drying and this product gives a smooth, finished look. I have thick, straight hair.

I love my Velvet Gelatine. I have half a head of curly hair and it's quite long. I like to use this when blow drying my hair staight. It provide a cushiony soft and full feel after. It smells devine and I will definatley buy again. If you're after some body definately blow dry with this....

This is great for blow drying. It really does leave hair feeling smooth as silk. I rarely blow dry so this will last me a long time despite the high price tag. it doesn't weigh down my fine hair. it reminds me a bit of an Aveda product I used in the past, a smoothing anti-humectant gel. The smell is nice and subtle.

I love this product. It smells fantastic and does a wonderful job of smoothing your hair without weighing it down. I have long, thick, fine hair and i heat style it about 2x a week. I put in about a grape sized amount on the bottom half of my hair, comb it through, then blow dry and flat iron. I dont really like hair products, but this one i will definitely repurchase, its just enough 'extra' to make your hair look great, but not enough that you have to run home and wash it out b/c your hair feels greasy.

This is one of those "I hate myself for loving you" products. I don't like that Redken tests on animals. But darn them for having such awesome styling products. This one smells amazing. I promise I look like I had a salon blow out. It leaves my fine, straight, thick hair looking smooth, healthy, and full of movement without weighing it down even a tiny bit. I love, love, love it and I took one lippie off for their bad business practices. It is crazy expensive, though, but worth it for at least special occasions.
