When I ran out of my regular cleanser in the middle of a trip, I headed to Duane Reade and bought these to use in conjunction with a travel-size drugstore facewash. The idea was that I would wash my face with the regular cleanser and use these towelettes to get off stubborn eye makeup. While these are probably fine for most face makeup, it's not appropriate for regular mascara and eyeliner, and left the skin around my eyes feeling irritated (not very "night calming"!). I ended up heading to Sephora for a travel size version of my favorite cleanser (Philosophy's Purity Made Simple) as soon as I could. I was a little disappointed because Neutrogena's eye makeup remover is so great, and I used it for years before finding a face wash that could tackle my eye makeup. These don't claim to be eye make up removing, but I feel like that's what I expect when something claims to be makeup removing, because pretty much any other face wash will remove other types of makeup.
These work well, if you use them to remove make-up, but don't pretend they are a "cleanser," because they're not. Make-up removing wipes are not a substitute for your regular cleansing regimen. I actually cleanse my face first with my usual cleanser, and then whatever eye make-up I can see is still lingering, gets wiped away by these. For removing eye make-up, they work great. I used to use cotton pads plus Neutrogena's eye make-up remover (the one in the translucent blue bottle) and then I switched to cotton pads with baby oil. The Neutrogena eye make-up remover stung my eyes, and baby oil is SO much cheaper anyway. But then I was concerned about getting baby oil anywhere on my already oily skin, AND I doubt mineral oil (which is all baby oil is) is any good for lash growth (and I sure could use some lash growth). SO I decided to add these to the regimen, and so far so good. One wipe is moist enough and thick enough to get off all remaining eye make-up, and I don't detect any stinging or residue. I would never personally use a wipe like this to attempt to "clean" my face - that's what I have skincare products for. I also like the fact I could travel with these, whereas travelling with baby oil in any container could prove a huge mess. I think I would re-purchase, but if you are on a tight budget, you may want to stick with cotton & baby oil because these really aren't that cheap.
Until recently, makeup remover wipes were really not a part of my evening routine, but I find that they speed up the process. I would definitely recommend cleansing your face after using these, and possibly even using toner. The fragrance was a tad strong, but surprisingly didn't bother my sensitive skin. I wished they were a little bit wetter, and they didn't remove my eye makeup very well. Other than that, I liked these, and would purchase them again.
Irritating. Burning skin. Eyes watering. Very disappointing. I have not had this type of reaction to any other facial wipe. Buyer beware! Avoid this product specifically.
It's just like the regular Neutrogena cleansing wipes, but with a fragrance that's supposed to be "calming". Normally, fragranced products irritate my skin like no other, but it did not react at all to this! That being said, I prefer the original cleansing wipes to this one. The original also came in a box that I held on to, and put the night calming ones in, in order to preserve moisture.
The wipes do leave some residue, so I would recommend following up with another cleanser after using the wipes to remove make-up.
This product made my beautiful skin with too many acnes !!! I never had acne even though my skin is combination but when i used this product, in 3 days i got 8 acnes 😭 the problem when i treated acnes they left brown marks and these dont go easily. So for combination or oily skin never ever use this
I really like these wipes for removing eye makeup at the most. IF YOU HAVE ACNE-PRONE SKIN LIKE I DO, DO NOT USE THESE WIPES TO REMOVE YOUR FACE MAKEUP AND THEN LEAVE IT LIKE THAT. If you're going to use these wipes to take off foundation, you MUST rinse your face afterwards. This made me break out so badly and I had to really work to get the acne to go away. I like to use these to take off eye makeup, especially eyeliner, but I have learned my lesson and will never use these again to take off face makeup without washing my face after (which to me sort of defeats the purpose because I would like to be able to use wipes to just remove my makeup without having to wash my face).
I like this product, but whenever I use it around my eyes it leaves a burning sensation.
These just leave a burning sensation on my face
I love these ones. The only difference between these and the original blue package is the odor. The blue package I can not stand how it smells. These are a nice odor. I'm trying to describe it and I'm having a hard time to place my finger on it. It has almost a very night sandalwood/sage odor. Not bad at all. I've also tried the Teal package and found those to also smell great, but they were too oily for me(which Neutrogena calls hydrating). These ones work just as great as the blue package with a much nicer odor and remove makeup just as well. I found them to be the perfect amount of dampness and not overly saturated or dry. I did however find the Teal ones to be more saturated with solution, but they also were oilier. Over all the Lavender ones are my favorite out of all of them. I also really like how the Neutrogena wipes are the only ones that I know of that have patented technology. The odor on these ones seems to linger longer then I remember it did on the blue or the teal. I would love if they made one odorless or but the cucumber odor of the hydrating (Teal) ones in the calming(Lavender) package.
I should note I have sensitive skin and ocular rosacea, so a lot of products irritate my skin/eyes. These don't at all. They are great for removing eye makeup.
