The color seems like the perfect nude but never looked right on my slightly pigmented lips. I loved the tube look and lipstick smell. The texture seems moist but it glides on oddly. Also dried my lips. It accentuates lip lines like nothing I've ever experienced. Not outside lip lines, I'm talking about the lines on your actual lips. It also rubbed off very easily, which I could have dealt with if it didn't look so horrible on my lips. Usually I can work with a product with this many strong reviews but this was my biggest fails in 2010. IMO packaging and color are the only redeeming qualities this product has.

At first I had many of the complaints you'll see in other reviews - doesn't last long and even though it's super creamy my lips were cracked after wear...

However, I figured out how to make this lipstick work and actually make my lips smooth. The secret, I find, is when applying foundation to your skin in the morning add a little to your lips. After I use MAC's 187 brush on my entire face I take one last swipe or two over my lips to add a thin layer to my lips. After that I put on my YSL #2 and, voila! The lipstick stays smooth and lasts much longer. I do have to reapply later in the day, but that's a given with lipstick.

I've also tried other things like adding lip balm before and after application. It works a little bit better if applied before. This lipstick does wear off quickly even if you're not doing anything with your lips. It just seems to vanish, but the packaging, color, look and texture are fantastic. It's a bit of a high maintenance lipstick, but I would repurchase and love it now that I know how to work with it.

I have been wanting this for quite some time, and finally got my hands on it with a gift certificate from Holt Renfrew. The packaging is gorgeous. I must admit i feel classy just pulling it out of my makeup bag. The smell is the trademark YSL light watermelon scent, which i have no qualms with. The shade is the perfect nude on me, fair beige-y pink . I wore it on the weekend and all of my gf's were commenting on how this lip color was "made for me" and all asked what it was. It doesnt feel like any other ls i own. Its so creamy and glides on so smoothly onto my lips. Pass on this however, if you are prone to dry chapped lips as i could see this excentuating them especially in the cold bitter winters. I find i dont even need to line my lips with this, it just blends perfectly and smoothly. Color lasts as any other ls would on me, if not a bit longer. This is rather expensive for a lip product (imo) at $38 Cdn. I would definitely purchase this again, but first i would like to see how long a tube lasts me.

I was skeptical about this product for a while, I couldn't imagine it being worth the price. But then I tried it, and my mind was immediately changed. The packaging is stunning, really heavy and nicely detailed. I love the smell of this product as well kinda fruity and definitely sweet. But the texture is what takes the cake. I love he smooth thick feeling it leaves on my lips it feels like no other lipstick I own. The color is gorgeous for my NC20 skin, it comes out looking like a light pink and I adore it. So lovely.

I have long been searching for a perfect nude. This one isn't too pink, yellow, or pale, it is just right. My lips but nude.

This is my favorite lipstick ever. The perfect shade of nude for my skin tone and it lasts quite long on me. It's very expensive so I tend to "save it" wearing MAC Angel lipstick on daily basis but I really like it. The package is quite luxurious and pratical with the little mirror on top. The scent of the lipstick is kinda watermelon-y what I find to be quite nice too. YSL did a good job here. I will repurchase when I ran out. The only complain is the price but I believe this lipstick is worth it. Every girl deserves a little luxury in her life.

the packaging and the colour is just really beautiful, plus I paid £20 for it (I know it’s crazy) I really wanted to be head over heels in love but it just doesn’t beat my really cheap airy fairy. It’s extremely silky and soft but only lasts about 5 seconds on my lips then somehow it just disappears.

I can't imagine there being a better lipstick out there. This is so extremely silky and soft- just gorgeous. texture is amazing- like none I've ever tried. While $34 is a bit ridiculous for a lipstick (took off one lippie for that), I may have to try this in another color. Yes, it's that good. Now as for this color, #2- I could def see this not working for everyone. It is very nude-fleshy toned with a bit of pink. It's great for me since I like pale lipsticks but must be used with a liner. MAC spice is my HG and goes with just about everything, this included. Overall- best l/s out there as far as texture and creaminess goes. beautiful!

I wanted to love this...in fact I thought I did untill I was just looking at my lippies and realised I hadnt worn it in about a year.
Its super nude and looks ok on my skintone but its the fact it doesnt last. Nil.Nada. Literally about 2 minutes.
Im super pissed at myself for using a $50 gift card on this...should have bought something from Chanel...damn packaging.

I really want to love this, it's such a lovely color, and the package.... hmmmm... I just want to look at it all day!
But is doesn't really work for me, I guess the color is too light, it almost gives me a concealer look.. It just doesn't match my skintone. I love the creamy texture, this is the first lipstick ever that I can wear without a lipbalm underneath, but it does really accentuate my dry lips even if I exfoliate.. And the lasting power is about 5 seconds?? Even if I don't drink or eat it just slides off.. That and the extreme high price make me only give this 3 lippies.. But the color is gorgeous, so if your fair - medium skined and don't mind applying your lipstick every 30 minutes, run to the store to get this!

I wanted so badly to like this but it gave me concealer lips. I have light skin (MAC NC 20 and JI Bisque) but my lips are very pale so there was no color to tone down. The color on the tube was the color on my mouth. Pale beige. ICK...

When I swatched it on my hand, it seemed to be the perfect beige nude I was looking for, so I got it immediately and I couldn't wait to put it on (I hate applying products from testers on my face, so I never test anything on me actually, just on my hand...). Unfortunately, this shade is invisible on me, or makes my face invisible, meaning that it looks just a little better than concealer on my lips. I am quite fair with slight pink undertones, but I use foundation shades close to NC15 for color balance. My lips are not so pigmented and the lipstick was semi-opaque. I tried it with heavy eye makeup and it made my lips disappear. I also tried it with a little more blush than usual, but it didn't go any better. I tried a darker lipliner underneath, but the formula of the lipstick is so slippery, that within half an hour the lipstick itself and the lipliner vanished. It has zero lasting power. I don't mind reapplying lipstick, but I don't want to do it every half an hour. My actual rating would be 1 to 2 lippies just for the lasting power, but I won't bring down the whole rating just because it wasn't the right nude for me (if the color was great, maybe I would be more forgiving for the consistency). After all, finding the perfect nude is a very personal matter, it has to do with the skintone etc, so I guess I wasn't so lucky.

Bought this lipstick today, first YSL product..all I have to say is that Im in love!! perfect nude pinky shade! formula is fab as well..Im hooked.

Absolutely amazing! Packaging is another plus. This is not drying on my lips at all, super pigmented, and it smells really good! Price had my standing in front of the lady trying to figure out if i should spend this much money on a lipstick, but i bought it anyway. It is worth every penny, i'm in love, and i'm scared i'm gonna get hooked on these YSL products, i definately want to try more.

This was my first YSL lipstick and I've since gone back for more. I love it!!!
The colour is absolutely gorgeous and the texture is super creamy. Although if I'm honest, I don't think the moisture in the lipstick actually transfers to my lips, although it is not drying either. I agree with other reviewers - the lasting power is pretty non-existant but for me the colour and formula are worth the multiple applications.
I'm not one easily swayed by packaging and I find this excessive - I would much prefer something more minimal with less wastage. But it is a great lipstick.

Well what can I say! For all the people wondering what all the hype is about this product, it's because it deserves all the hype. The texture is like velvety butter on your lips. Scent, lovely! The packaging I happen to love. For all those saying it's too much well I think there are worse things. The color is the best of all. This is the perfect nude for all those with pigmented lips like myself. The color is a pinky nude and a little of this goes a long way. It's right up there with my MAC 3N but I actually think this color is even better than that (which I always thought impossible. what could be better than my beloved 3N?) I will always dish out the cash for this one. Can't live without it.

I love YSL Rouge Pur lipsticks. There is something about the formulation of this lipstick that is unlike any other lipstick I have tried. Putting it on feels like sheer luxury for the lips. Velvety, rich, and creamy are the best words I can use to describe the texture and sensation of this product, although, they somehow don’t seem adequate. Further, for a lipstick, this product is very moisturizing. The colours are beautiful and stay true to original colour; there doesn’t seem to be any colour change with oxidization. The packaging is beautiful and brilliant. Not only is the gold casing gorgeous but the design is highly functional with the addition of a tiny mirror at the top of the lid—perfect for quick touch-ups. The one downside to the lipstick is the wear. I find that it wears off much more quickly than other lipsticks I’ve used both high and low end. Nonetheless, YSL is the only lipstick I will wear now and despite the high price point, will definitely be re-purchasing.

OMG!! This is my absolute #1 HG Lippie of all time!! I have tried so many lipsticks-from high end to drug store and none can even come close to to this one. I am obsessed with the perfect nude shade and this is it. It's a pale pink nude that is very pigmented. I have very red lips and one small swipe covers them without having to use concealer. And talk about moisturizing! This lipstick is so smooth. LOVE!! Worth every penny :)
