My first bottle.... Felt in love when I visited the store.
This is my everyday scent for the most part! I adore this scent it is a light floral that isn't overwhelming at all. It is a sweet floral, but not sickening or fake in my opinoin. It does not seem like there is caramel or anything overtly sugary. It smells like a spring day with a teeny tiny amount of musk to it once it settles on my skin. This lasts on me for about 8 hours and even later then that I can still smell it on my skin. I think it is wonderful and everyone who smells it on me seems to adore it. I have had people try it on themselves and it takes on a more vanilla note which seems artifical so I recomend trying before you buy. I am on my third bottle though and am in love!
I had really high hopes for this perfume but it turns out I didn't like it at all. It smells like old lady to me :[ I smell too much cotton and musk. Definitely not one on my favorites list.
The site described it as such a nice cooling fragrance, something like cool water, since the color of the perfume and bottom was a light blue color, It turns out not to be.
Will not buy this perfume since I can get something from Bath and Body works that smells somewhat like this for a fraction of the cost.
I am not usually a fan of store fragrances and particularly those stores aimed at stick thin young girls but when I visited the store yesterday I was fascinated by the smell, I was told it was La Perouse! I purchased a bottle on a whim and sprayed it on my clothes last night, what a wonderful floral, powdery and sophisticated fragrance, perfect for the Summer! It is very different and whilst has similarities with Summer Hill is quite different in it's muskiness! A keeper!
I love this perfume but not a huge fan of the actual store. I got the 2.5 oz for $32.40 ( retail is $54- I got it on sale for 40% off.) and a travel size .24 oz on sale for about $10.00.
La Perouse description per Gilly Hicks website- "classic blend of fresh flowers, soft woods, desert pea flower, lilac and soft musk." Which is a pretty good description. To me it smells very floral, clean, with a touch of musk to warm it up. A very feminine scent.
I herd it suppose to smell like Crabtree & Evelyn's Summer Hill but I have to kindly disagree. They do smell similar but not the exact same. La Perouse is more musky and has a sharpness that Summer Hill does not have. Summer Hill is much softer and more mature smelling than La Perouse.
La Perouse is the signature scent of the store Gilly Hicks- so if you with in 1 mile of that store you know what it smells like.
I like that there is not a Gilly Hicks store in every mall and La Perouse is not a widely used scent but still smells really good. continued >>
I love this perfume! I would smell it while walking in the mall, but not knowing where it was coming from. One day, I followed it, and it led me into the Gilly Hicks store. They have many other great fragrances, but La Perouse is their "signature", that you smell in their stores. It's floral, with a hint of powder, and a slight warmth to it that makes me wonder if there is some sort of an underlying vanilla in the base. The bottle is beautiful - in a very classic way. It's heavy glass, and the liquid is a pale blue. The 1.7 oz. bottle costs $44 (if I remember correctly), and the 2.7 oz. bottle is only $10 more. I bought the 1.7 oz. because I wanted to see how I felt about it, long-term. :) I've received a lot of "mmmm you smell good!" comments, and my dad who usually is not fond of my choices in fragrance (I love vanilla, he can't stand it..hehe), says that this one smells wonderful. The lasting power is a runner! One spritz on the wrist, and it's still distinctly there, 10 hours later. My clothes smell great, too. It's worth it, especially for a perfume that isn't found at every corner of the mall! :)
I love this store and this fragrance is beautiful, however it smells exactly like Crabtree & Evelyn's Summer Hill collection which is much less expensive and the packaging is more alluring.
Buy Sumemer Hill instead and spend the extra $20 you saved on some new Gilly Hick's undies. A better buy all around. continued >>
La Perouse is Gilly Hicks' signature fragrance, the one that you smell when you're in (and within a 50-foot-radius of) the store. Whenever I wear this, I always get lots of compliments. People can recongize this as the Gilly Hicks smell! It's expensive but well worth it.
