This review is for the product called "Everyday Sheer Coverage SPF 20".
I first got this because I wanted to make the switch to using natural sunscreens. Prior to this, I was using La Roche Posay's Anthelios AC which was working very well for my skin.
After trying this countless of times, I just have to say that I don't like this at all. It dries very quickly upon application and it is super hard to blend no matter how many times I try, it just ends up balling on my face. I tried using this with a moisturizer, toner, bare-faced, and even with a facial oil... all of them resulted with the sunscreen balling up on my face. My face always looks streaky and cakey after applying this. For the price I paid, I really wanted to like this product, but it will just collect dust at the bottom of my shelf. I will not repurchase this.

My skin background: oily and medium tan (nc42). I live in a hot, humid and very sunny climate. Because of my oily skin and the high humidity, most sunscreens melt off my face after only a couple of hrs. This product has been renamed as Moisturizing Face Screen, SPF 30. I have it in "medium" tint and It's one of the first tinted screen I've used. It's a mineral sunscreen that comes in a pump type brown bottle (2oz. 60 ml) with 24% zinc oxide as it's active ingredient. Non active ingredients are composed of essential oils which I'm not going to list as it can be found on their website. First the color: It matches my complexion almost perfectly . I say "almost" because it's just a very tiny bit lighter than my natural skin tone. No white cast whatsoever because of the tint. Consistency: The bottle needs to be shaken thoroughly prior to use in order for the tint to apply evenly. I didn't shake it enough at first so it ended up applying streaky. I eventually got it to work by blending and blending and finally it settled down. Feel: moisturizing without feeling oily or heavy. It felt dewy on my skin. Finish: The finish is semi matte to matte and reminded me of medium coverage powder foundation. It stayed that way for about 6 hrs.. It did not melt off my face, even in this high humidity but because of the humidity it also felt like it didn't sink in completely. Protection: Excellent! I tan very easily but hardly burn and my face did NOT tan with this even though I only applied once in the day and was out in direct sunlight for a couple of hrs. I took off a lippie because I prefer a sheerer finish than this. I don't wear foundation and this made me look like I was wearing makeup. I guess I'm just not used to it but the coverage is enough that it will cover small blemishes and red spots. Perhaps the best thing about this product aside from its protection is it did NOT cause me to breakout. I have been using it for two weeks now without as much as a single irritation or pimples. I will continue to repurchase but $40 for a 2oz bottle, it's on the expensive side. I ordered mine direct from the manufacturer.

I love this sunscreen. I am allergic to chemical sunscreens (avobenzone etc) and had been hunting for a nice mineral one for a long time! I have now been using this about....8 months, and I can find nothing to complain over. The "light tint" is still a bit dark for my NW15 skin, so I bought a bottle of the "no tine" and mix them together for the perfect shade. This has NEVER aggravated my sensitive, acne-prone skin, nor caused any breakouts! The light coverage also does a nice job of evening out my skintone! I find it best to apply after moisturizing, when skin is almost dry but still the tiniest bit damp. It sets to a bit of a powdery finish, but there is a definite glow to the skin. Best sunscreen ever!
...oh and I can attest that it really protects. Ive never burnt having worn this!

I have sensitive skin that has just gone through a year of cystic acne caused by a variety of factors (hormones, products, stress, etc). I have tried drugstore sunscreens and have never been satisfied. I like this marie veronique sunscreen. I am 26 yrs old with olive skin. When I wear this product it acts as a foundation too. I like that it helps to conceal the red marks that are still fading from old acne. It isn't greasy like most other sunscreens I have tried. Plus the ingredients are fantastic. I discovered this product from the EWG website. It is expensive (around $40) and that would be the only thing that might prevent me from repurchasing. I may stick with my Heiko spf40 sunscreen because you get more product for the same amount of money (even though that one does leave a white cast to my skin). anyway this marie veronique sunscreen works well and I'll continue to use it until it runs out. If you have dry spots the sunscreen will make them obvious. I use a light moisturizer before applying the sunscreen. At night I cleanse with a cleanser that also removes makeup, so I never have a problem with residue on my skin. I have not had any breakouts from using this stuff.

This is the best sunscreen I have ever tried. I react to chemichal sunscreens with burning. It is very hard to find zinc based non greasy sunscreens, this is the first one I have found. The scent is natural, and dissipates quickly. It evens out my skin tone slightly, I am very pale, if you are not, go with the tinted versions. No reactions from my skin at all, no sunburn. Very good customer service. WIll absolutely buy again.

I think this product will actually cure me of wanting to try "natural products" or maybe any new products. Some women will, no doubt LOVE this sunscreen. But not me. I purchased this as part of an anti-aging set that ran around $170. I got the "no tint" version which - of course - has a tint. And 24% zinc oxide. And a very medicinal scent as it is chock full of essential oils. I might add that the bottle is only two ounces which, if you go by the guidelines, should last about two weeks. Oh, and you're supposed to keep it in a cool place. And shake it. So I spread it on...and just kept on spreading because it really doesn't set. SO you either use way to little for sun protection to get it to set or you walk around with the equivalent of milk of magnesia spread on your face. If you've read any of my reviews, I rarely hate a product. But I hate this. And the rest of the products I got in this kit. I don't care what the EWG says. I'll take my chances on one of the products rated in the medium risk range. At least I can stand to put them on. I'm also reviewing the other products in this stupid set but they fare no better!

Love this organic physical sunscreen. This is probably one of the best sunscreens out there when it comes to "good for you" ingredients.
Ingredients:
Moisturizing Face Screen, SPF 30 - Light Tint
Active ingredient: zinc oxide, 24%
Contains non-micronized zinc oxide, a physical sun block that reflects UV rays without releasing wrinkle and cancer-causing free radicals.
Camellia sinensis (green & white tea), zinc oxide, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba oil), Prunus armeniaca (apricot kernel oil), Limnanthes alba (meadowfoam seed oil) capric/caprylic triglycerides (fractionated coconut oil), Helianthus annuus (sunflower oil), potassium sorbate, vegetable glycerin, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Elaesis guineensis (red palm oil), Cosmocil CQ*, lecithin, Rubus idaeus (red raspberry seed oil), Hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn oil), Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) Rosemary oleoresin, xantham gum, Daucus carota (carrot seed) essential oil, Cistus incanus (cistus) essential
I have the older packaging which is just a bottle that you pour out. Now I see they changed the packaging slighty (bottle with pump) and it looks much easier to get the right amount out. Its not a lotion or cream, but more of a liquid. I have dry skin so I always use a moisturizer first. I read somewhere that zinc oxide tends to dry out the skin and that must be true because this is suppose to be a
moisturizing formula and it's not enough moisture for me. I got the light tint which has a slight pinkish tone. If you have a yellow skin tone it might not blend very well, but for fair skin it works.
It's not perfect for me - wish it were more of a lotion/cream, more moisturizing and had a more neutral tone, but I will still buy it again because I haven't found anything better. I like the feel of the chemical sunscreens, but choose not to use them so this is the best option for me.
If your interested in trying this you might be able to call and see if you can get a sample size since it is a little expensive. When I ordered mine I requested samples of a couple of their other products and they were nice enough to send me some. continued >>

Now this is called Moisturizing Face Screen. With 24% zinc oxide this is a damn good SS and is cosmetically elegant so I actually WANT to put it on. After my beloved Avene Emulsion orange tube 50 was reformulated with avobenzone i was scrambling to find something nice like it. Enter MVO.
I use LIGHT tint which appears to be around NC20 or so. Just right. NO TINT was way light and around NC10 I would say. It left a white color on my skin, but LIGHT does not. Sinks right in. I use a drop of Sun Protective Oil by MVO under this and it goes on smooth and stays fresh all day. Not too matte, not greasy at all. The Goldilocks Principle: just right!!! Smells nice too.

I purchased the Creme De Soleil (not tinted) since I am asian, I called customer service and the lady suggested me to use the regular because I have fairly light skin. I search the sunblock product in EWG and organic ingredient so I decided to purchase. I like the prouct because it's 20% zinc oxide protect UVB and UVA full spectrum. My skin did not turn red. and no oily looking. it's safe around eye areas (very important). Eventhough the product said it has moisturize, but if you have dry skin or normal skin I think you need to apply the moisturizer first then MV spf 30.
I also tried the TINTED, the product is little thicker than the regular product and the smell of herbal is lighter. I apply the tinted in the afternoon because in the morning I applied the regular. This way my face won't be WHITE looking.
Let me describe the product. The smell of the product has herbal fragrance when just smell it, after I applied on my face it starts to smell like ointment. Take 30 minutes for the smell to fade. The texture is light, not thick. the color is little light tinted. The jar doesn't have the pump so i have to pour the product out. Because no to pour too fast, or else you'll get a lot out.
The product dry up really fast, so if you use the fingers to apply on the skin, the white product will be hard to spread out, it will leave white spot on the skin. So i pour the product on my hand then put two hands together to warm up then press on my face. The product need to reapply through out the day. I reapply every 3 to 4 hours for best protection, since it is summer time. No waterproof.

I bought this based on good reviews and EWG top ten sunscreen. It arrived promptly and I was very excited to try it. I cleansed and moisturized my skin, then put this on. It is kind of strange, I dotted it on my face and it stayed there - really hard to spread or make it even. Determined to make this work, I persistently tried to spread it and at the end I thought it looks ok. I proceeded to let it soaked and dust some powder on top. Not bad I thought. An hour later, when I looked in the mirror ... gasp ... my skin looked *really* bad. Ashy colored, greasy, all the pores were emphasized. Yikes. Now, I'm trying to return this - which I found really hard. Customer service never replied to my email. I just tried using their webpage form, let's see how long it would take for someone to reply ...

I have very fair skin and this has provided me with great protection.
First I moisturize my face, let it sit for a minute, then apply the sunscreen and then my makeup.
Do not have to use much to obtain the protection.
I bet this would be great for oily or acne prone skin. I have dry skin and must moisturize my skin.
It is one of the safer sunscreens, along with Blue Lizard and Soleo Organics. I do not use them on my face because my makeup does not go on as well over them.
Just to change things up, I have been using LCP Essential Wear SPF 45 on my face for about a month. Not sure the ingredients are as effective as MV but EWP has it listed as being pretty safe and with pretty good protection.
Anyway, I may go back to MV after I finish my new product. PRetty much tried and true for me. Why is it we get bored with a product even when it does its job? Crazy!
By the way, I use the untinted.
Update: Today, I used this without my mineral makeup and it looks wonderful! I use the light tint as I am somewhat fair skinned. It looks beautiful! Just used a little concealer under my eye and added some blush. I look younger and more natural using this without other face makeup. My fine wrinkles, etc. do not show up as much. I do not have the problems that the other reviewers have written about. Most of all, I love it because it provides the best sun protection and has great ingredients.
Although not everything works for everybody, I suggest you give this a try. In the past, I have worn face makeup over it and it did just fine.
I do apply lotion to my face and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. This way it never balls up on me. I guess the finish may depend on your lotion and other face care products.

I purchased a bottle based solely on reviews posted on this site thus far. My skin is mature, very sensitive, and I have mild rosacea and mild sun damage, so on a bad day, my skin shows some enlarged pores, some areas of oiliness, some areas of dryness and flakiness, and some redness on my cheeks and nose.
I have to say, I wonder just how different my skin is from the reviewers who love this product, because I tried the product today and my skin definitely did not love it in the least. Admittedly, I was not having a good skin day to begin with, but I gently cleansed and moisturized my face, I waited a few minutes, I shook the bottle well, and I carefully applied a small amount to my face. And? The product just sat on top of my face; it felt thick and sticky and it would not blend; it magnified every pore and irregularity; it clumped in my eyebrows; and it turned the center of my face bright red. . . . All in all, I am utterly disappointed in this product, and I cannot recommend it to anyone.

I bought this sunscreen based on the reviews on MUA, and also because it is an all-physical with the highest concentration of zinc oxide I could find. I am pretty happy with this product; it does NOT clog my pored; in fact the natural oils and antioxidant base feels very nice on my skin. I got the tinted one and it is not too tinted, it blends in nicely. The only things I don't like about this sunscreen are the bottle (no squeeze dispenser, glass bottle, so you have to tap it on your palm to get it out), and the smell, which is herbal and a bit much for me. Also, it's a tad expensive ($40 US). Otherwise I love this! Especially because I know no free radicals are being created on my skin in sunlight and I am getting the best sun protection out there. I would definitely recommend this product.
*EDIT* After using this for about a month, I'm going to try chemical sunscreens like La Roche Posay Anthelios. Although physical blocks are stable, they DO sit on top of the face like a mask, instead of sinking in. It's something you just have to accept with physical sunscreens. So, although this sunscreen went on well, stayed on all day, and NEVER made me break out, I'm tired of the slightly 'mask-like' appearance it gives me (I have to use some mineral makeup on top to give me some colour). Also, the SO thinks it smells weird, and it does lol. This susncreen is great if you're looking for the best protection an all-physical can give you, but if you want a sunscreen that sinks in invisibly, this is NOT your best bet.

I purchased this product based on a makeup alley review. I prefer all zinc sunscreens that don't contain micronized or nano sized particles, and have all natural ingredients. That's not easy to find. My other challenge is that I need to be able to wear it when I run and not have it run off my face. This has lived up to my expectations. It comes in a brown bottle with a screw off lid. The web site showed a dropper bottle, but when I contacted the company after receiving, they said they discountinued the dropper bottle packaging. It is lightly tinted, but doesn't really alter the color of your skin. I was told that this is to keep it from having a white cast, which it definitely does not have. It smells faintly of calamine lotion, and contains ingredients that are great for your skin:
Green tea, non-micronized zinc oxide, calendula infused jojoba, apricot kernel, rice bran & meadow foam seed oils, vitamin E, MVO botanical anti-oxidant complex, flax seed oil, aloe vera gel, rosemary oleoresin, potassium sorbate, red palm oil, allantoin, mica, non-GMO lecithin, xantham gum, seabuckthorn & red raspberry seed oils, honeysuckle & essential oils of carrot seed & citrus, iron oxides (for tint).
This doesn't clog my pores and is mildly moisturizing, although I still need a moisturizer with it. I expect this to be my go to sun screen all summer long. continued >>

This is actually a review for the un-tinted one, but since there's no category yet, I'll have to put it here. I have very sensitive, combo skin. dry everywhere except for the sides of my nose and chin which can get oily and breakout. I'm extremely pale with pink undertones- as white as nicole kidman which is why I got the untinted because the are ususally too dark. Now about the product. I have been looking for a facial sunscreen for a long time. I can't wear chemical ones due to allerigies plus who wants to worry about photostabilty- which you don't have to worry about with this type of ss. the product itself comes in a brown glass bottle so be careful not to drop it. it is very slighlty green tinged, but it disapeears quickly and is great for me beause it takes away ruddiness us fair skinned girls get, it is easy to spread, you don't need a lot, so a bottle will last a while. It has a lot of oils- but this won't break you out because they are the good kind like lavender. One thing people might not like is that because of all the nautral oils and essences it does have a kind of a medicine or woody like smell but it not very noticable .the most interesting part is that it dries to a powder finnish that gives an almost air brushed like look. it is not greasy at all. if you have oily skin you won't even need a moisturizer. This baby also protects really well. I live in FL and have not burned at all while wearing this for many hours - and I burn very easily. a little hard to get and a little pricey- i think I paid around $44.00 with tax and ship but totally worth it. I got my from marieveronique.com

Edited to reduce lippies: The texture is really not good and I find it to be very chalky and noticeable on my skin. I can see my pores when I have it on. For a tinted mineral sunscreen, Elta Physical and Arcona Reozone are far superior, much more cosmetically elegant and natural looking, ime.
This is a 20% non-micronized zinc oxide sunscreen that is tinted a light beige (there is also an untinted version which I haven't tried). The site says the tinted one is for darker complexions or for those who want a warm glow, but this is pretty light. I think I'm about NC 20 and it matches my skin perfectly (I'm pale but do have a golden undertone to my skin). Also, tinted sunscreens are much more transparent than foundations and even TM's, so I think they work for a wider range of complexions. Since this has such a thin consistency it doesn't feel like 20% unmicronized zinc, but that is what the website states. Only time will tell in the summer if it gives decent protection. In comparison with Elta MD Physical spf 41, I'd say the MV is about a shade darker and much thinner in consistency. So far no irritation or clogged pores and I also used it all around my eyes without any problems. I don't want to give it a '5' rating yet since I haven't tested it during the summer.
Ingredients:
Green tea*, non-micronized zinc oxide (20%), calendula-infused jojoba, apricot kernal, rice bran & meadow foam seed oils, Vitamin E, MVO botanical anti-oxidant complex, flax seed oil, Aloe vera fel*, rosemary oleoresin, potassium sorbate, red palm oil*, allantonin, mica, xantham gum, non-GMO lecithin, sea buckthorn & red raspberry seed* oil, honeysuckle & essential oils of carrot seed & cistus.
