Perfect, affordable, matte red. Make sure you buff your lips with a toothbrush first so you don't get flakies. It often goes on sale, so get it while it's cheap. This is very similar in colour to my NYC Retro Red which has a creamy as opposed to matte finish. I love both, but the packaging on this guy is way classier.

My absolute favorite red lipstick! Really Red is THE definition of the bright, classic, pin-up girl red. It looks brighter and more noticeable than most DS red lipsticks I've tried. The matte finish really gives it that retro punch, and it's surprisingly not (as) drying like other matte lipsticks. I would apply this carefully, preferably with a lipliner (to get the edges perfect) although you can get away with applying straight from the bullet if you have a steady hand. The color does stain my lips a little afterwards.
I'm an NC25 Asian and this red is EXTREMELY flattering on me, although I think it's actually flattering on everyone. Every time I wear it, I get questions about what lipstick it is, and everyone is usually surprise to find that it's a $6, classic Revlon one that gets overlooked at the supermarkets. One of my friends and my dance instructor both ran out to buy this exact lipstick after I wore it for a performance.

This is my HG red lipstick! It is a timeless shade of red that instantly perks up any outfit. Even when I'm wearing a sweatshirt, this stuff makes me feel put together.
It is very long-lasting for a regular lipstick. It does rub off a bit during meals, but it wears off evenly (no ring-around-the-lips affect), so I can get away with not reapplying if I'm in a hurry after lunch. I like that the formula is matte because cream-style lipsticks never work for me; they always melt into a visible gooey residue on the edges of my lips. I have tried Revlon's other matte shades, and their formulas do not wear as beautifully as Really Red.
This lipstick is a great value for the price. People have asked me if I'm wearing MAC when I use this!

This red is great for everyday wear; it stays very comfortably on my lips and doesn't fade much through eating and drinking. The formula is on the drier side but wearing a good lip balm before applying really helps. When I saw this red I thought it would be too orange for my skin tone but it ended up brightening my face without being too in-your-face (maybe because of the matte finish). The only thing I don't like about this lipstick is that it's hard to find! I don't remember how many drugstores I wandered around before finding this but it was well worth the search.

This is a great shade of red for me-- they are almost always too orange, I'm not sure why, but I love this. I would probably caution people to use a lipbrush because it is a VERY bold red, and mistakes will show up.
This is a really killer lipstick for the "Mad Men" look that is taking the beauty world by storm. Buy it, indulge your inner glamazon!

My worst problem with this product was finding one! I tried two CVS stores that don't carry this color in their Revlon section & I had to go to two Rite Aids before I found only one left but was happy to scoop it up.
I am a MAC Viva Glam girl but was noticing that it is a little darker than I would like for Spring/Summer so I thought I would try a brighter red & Revlon mastered reds years ago so why not give them a try? The problem with Revlon's normal SuperLusterous reds is the formulation. It is too slick & always ends up looking too glossy & clownish on me, unless you blot the heck out of them & who wants to do that every time you reapply? So finding a matte Revlon red was perfect.
The color is a true bright, 1950s movie star red & I love it. Better still is the fact that the color in the tube is what you get on your lips. Usually reds change on me & end up looking too pink or orange but this color is exactly as it should be.
The matte aspect is great, although some may need to use it with a lip balm underneath but it holds up well either way & I am very pleased with it. My new everyday red! continued >>

Revlon does a great red. Although this formula is matte, it is not drying or thick-feeling as some other matte lipsticks tend to be. This color suits my fair skin very well, a very vibrant, true, crayon-box red. Snow White would have worn this color, it's the color of poison berries and movie blood. It shocks me that women wore this color in the 50s, it's so unabashedly sexy. I bought it for a halloween costume but I got so many compliments that I kept it around with my regular makeup. I think the contrast makes my eyes look really blue.
I love that the color is build-able. For real life, I apply this with a very light hand (more like a stain) or apply and blot. For night or dress-up, you can't beat the fun drama of this red applied full strength. I'm not much of a red lipstick girl, but I've never had a true red I liked better including designer brands.

Wow. I am really fair-skinned and it is hard to find a red lipstick without looking too vampy or making me look like some weird red lipped ghost but I love this shade. I think that it will look great on other skin tones as well because it is a true red and it not too orange or too blue. I originally bought it for a costume, but I was also buying it for general use as well. It is matte and a truly beautiful shade of red. I strongly recommend! It is indeed really red and beautiful!

I was looking for a red lipstick to polish off my Man Men inspired outfit/makeup for a 60s themed dress day at work. After some research, I read in an interview that the on-set makeup artist suggested this shade as one of her favorites for an authentic 60s look.
It is a matte lipstick, but it goes on very smooth and it is very pigmented. One coat was great, but 2 coats are even better. It feels dry on the lip, but not dry in a bad sense it just feels like I'm not wearing a slick lipstick.
It took me 5 different local drugstores/super centers to find this shade, but when I finally found it, I picked up 2 tubes and will very likely go back for a couple more. This color is fabulous!

1. Beautiful color, not too orange, not too blue. Just really, really red :)
2. Perfect matte finish without any dryness. Lovely finish that doesn't bleed or slip. Just looks classic and sophisticated.
3. Lovely packaging, classic.
I have always wanted to find a red I could truly love, and finally, I have. I have very full lips and always felt like reds looked trashy and "hooker-ish" on me. Turns out that's because they weren't matte. I truly adore this lipstick and can't wait to wear it out. It's a little hard to find, but I found it at Wal Mart for less than $5.

I was really excited about this lipstick after all these reviews, but sadly, I think I just can't pull it off. At the store, I thought it looked amazing, and I still think it does when I swatch it on my hand, but I get the same problem another reviewer mentioned... it makes me look very vampy. I'm latin american and I have very pale skin with dark brown hair and brown eyes. Everyone keeps saying it's a vibrant kind of red, but whenever I put it on my lips, I feel like it looks rather dark. Not really what I expected from a lipstick called "Really Red", but I'm guessing it's just not suited for my complexion- I guess I'll be looking for a red lipstick with blue undertones.
I'm still giving it 4 lippies because the product it self is actually good (it's rather moisturizing for a matte lipstick, it does not transfer and it lasts a few hours even after you eat or drink), but I won't be buying it again.

This lipstick is seriously AMAZING. I am not really a fan of matte lipstick, but Revlon struck gold with this formula, in my opinion. It is matte but not drying, it just effortlessly glides onto your lips. Regarding this color, it is a beautiful true red that leans very slightly warm, it is not as cool-toned as Ruby Woo or Russian Red from MAC. I much prefer this formula as well- the pigment is not as dense in one swipe as MAC's, however it is smoother and very buildable so you can easily achieve a glamorous starlet look. The best part is that the lipstick doesn't transfer as easily on straws, coffee cups, or your lover. The color also fades evenly and there is no line around your lips at the end of the day. I own a drawer full of red lipstick (mostly high-end), all of which I love and adore, however this is the first one that has compelled me to write a review on. If you are a red lipstick lover, you need to run out and buy this.

I'm in love with this. Makes me feel very glamorous. Formula is great, non drying matte finish. A nice warmish true red color...very long lasting it lasted through meals, drinks, and light kisses... whats not to like.. I'm tan and it looks great on me, my mom who is more of an olive color wore it and it looked great on her too... gifted one to my aunt who is cool toned and surprisingly it looked great on her too... tried it on my sister and she looked great.. I just love this color on everyone...I even tried it on my best friend and she looked absolutley gorgeous... its definitly univerally flattering so if your about to buy your first red lippie, but don't wanna dish out on mac's ruby woo or russian red this is great to start and finish with...

Dear Revlon Really Red,
Oh my search for red lipstick....how I've suffered and toiled, trying every red color in every brand in Sephora, buying expensive versions of you from Edward Bess and Guerlain in delicious packaging that I end up returning...and settling down with the best and truest version of you that never fails: Revlon Really Red.
How shall I sing your praises? Is it the slightly warm but true red color that is probably universally flattering? Is it your long lasting magic, your ability to not fade throughout the day and drinks and even meals? Is it your miraculously non-drying matte texture? Is it your ease of application--no lipliner lip brush powder sealer anything, just a perfect easy application from the tube to red lipstick perfection? Or is it perhaps because you run about $8 at most, and still performs better than every other expensive lipstick I've tried?
Oh, it doesn't matter, Revlon Really Red. I know I've strayed from you, and I'm sorry. I realize now that I will never find another red lipstick as true and good. I am committed to you, and I won't stop singing your praises. How I love you--and everyone else should, too.

I just bought this lipstick today and I really like it so far. I've been going for a Dita von Teese inspired look lately, and since there was no way I was going to spring for the Ruby Woo or Russian Red by MAC that she wears, I did some research for cheaper matte reds and came across Really Red. I have brownish red hair and the color looks great with it, and it has rather good staying power. I would defininately suggest this product to a friend, and plan on contiunuing to use it for a very long time!

The only red lipstick I have ever tried was "Ruby star" from Maybelline. It was ok but it never really wowed me. Now, this color is absolutely gorgeous on me. It just makes me look so alive and bright. I dont think I will ever buy or try another red lipstick again. The search for me, is over.
The texture is smooth and not overly drying (my lips are pretty much always in good condition). I dont feel the need to apply balm underneath even in harsh canadian winter.
I did my research and based on that, I gathered that blue-based red suit all skintones. I am yellow-based NC50, and it fit me perfectly, Nothing looked off..just beautiful.
I always shied away from red thinkign that I am too dark to pull it off but now I find occasions to wear this.

I adore this lipstick :D i had purchased revlon colorburst lipstick in cherry. The color itself was good but applied it made me look clownish and gaudy in a sloppy corner hooker sort of way. Really Red saved my faith in the color red. On my NC37 skin and hyperpigmented lips, this comes off as an opaque matte neutral red. It didn't dry out my lips like most people say that matte lipsticks do, and it made my teeth look super white. Overall awesomeness.
The lasting power was pretty good, note that i wore this straight out the tube without any lipliner, primer, nada. and it didn't bleed.
As far as packaging goes, I don't mind with lipstick unless its so bulky it doesn't fit in a pocket or purse comfortably and this one is perfectly classy. It's a round tube with a matte black finish and a silver band. Nice. I would love to try out the rest of the matte lipsticks. But for now this will feed my lipstick addiction :)

Starting to get more and more into red. I think this one is becoming one of my favorites as it doesn't look way to bright on me, and has good staying power.
