Hmmm, was on the fence with this foundation, until I tried applying it with various primers--they ran out of the Clean Slate primer (guess it's discontinued), so I had some Philosphy's The Present (I've been a Philosophy girl for over 6 years) and gave it a try--found that to be a bit drying in my cheek area and the foundation clung to it in patches...then the Smashbox Photo Primer with SPF 15, and too oily--I've got sensitive skin, mostly dry except in my t-zone; in my late 30s with very fair skin, pink in my cheeks, light freckles, have always had a rough time finding the right tone of foundations (in Tarte I got the lightest--Porcelain00)--I need something neutral, not too pink or yellow, like a natural or soft matte finish--with the Palladio primer, I got a very nice application--one pump worth covered my entire face using the Sephora #45 mineral powder brush in small circular motions. This is a just a touch pink, but not overly so, and it melted right into my skin and had a soft feel. This gave nice medium coverage, with either my translucent Rimmel Stay Matte powder dusted over, or, depending on if I want to have a heavier coverage, using the Palladio Dual Wet&Dry herbal foundation powder in Laurel Nude.
It's very pricey, but with one pump per use, I will have this a very long time. Have been going thru issues with my skin due to new thyroid medication, so my previous foundations and moisterizers have been less beautiful/effective on me lately, so I've turned to MUA to look for other alternatives. Hope this helps--I would repurchase, but would LOVE a less expensive alternative--have tried Revlon ColorStay for Dry skin in buff, but most other drugstore brands are way too pink or yellow for my skin--so I usually go to Sephora and muck around :) continued >>

Something in the ingredients list didn't work for my skin. The shade was perfect, finish smooth and it lasted almost the entire day. Knowing that it had natural ingredients made me feel so good. But in 2 days, My skin reacted to the foundation badly. As soon as I'd wash my face, it noticed dry and red irritated patches. I continued use for 2 days more and developed tiny pimples. I have discontinued the product and my skin is getting normal again. So while its all natural, something in it is not right... :(

I did really love this foundation because of its moisturizing affect it had on my skin. but there isnt a good choice of colors. The lightest was too light and the next one up was too yellow.

Worst foundation I have tried to date. This faded off throughout the day, and looked patchy. It burned my face when I put it on (and I do not have sensitive skin.) By the end of the day, this clung to any dry spots on my skin and made it look flaky and patchy and just terrible. They also didn't have my shade. Even if this does have anti-wrinkle ingredients, it's not worth it. DO NOT buy if you have dry skin.

I was recommended this product as sephora when I said my skin had started reacting to my favourite Lancome Double Wear foundation and wanted an alternative that would be less harsh on my face.
This foundations smells SO WEIRD. I did not like it, and the scent never went away. It smelled like cheap fake patent leather, very specific I know. Which makes me question the ingredients.
Does not apply smoothly or nicely and never really seems to settle right, kind of fades in some places oxidizes funny in others and irritates any *slight* skin imperfections I may have.
The packaging was nice and I like the pump and size, there is a fair amount of product in the tube. No go for me though.

I purchased the lightest shade available, Porcelain 00 and it is a great match to my complexion (MAC NC15). Besides the great colour match, I also like that this foundation comes in a pump dispenser and contains SPF 15, but that is where my love ends for this foundation. This foundation just simply doesn't work for my combination skin. I found it hard to blend, it just seemed to sit on top of my skin and never felt like it meshed, within a few hours it sunk into every possible pore and fine line into my skin, and then it starts to look extremely greasy and just plain nasty. I paid over $40 for this product at Sephora and I always feel the more money I spend the harder I try to get a product to work for me. No matter what I tried for application or the different products used to prep my skin, this foundation delivered the same negative results. Overall this was a waste of money for me and definitely not a repurchase.

This is the second Tarte product I have purchased. I have the Lights Camera Lashes Mascara and I love it! But this foundation is not as good as I hoped it would be. First, it is very hard to blend. I use my fingers to apply it, and I feel like I'm tugging at my skin to spread it around my face, which is not good! Second, I choose the color Warm Bisque (light skin with yellow undertones) and it comes off looking orange. The website should correct that to "medium skin with yellow undertones" cause its misleading for those who may have "light skin". Overall, I gave this 2 lippies because I like the pump dispenser, and the fact that the ingredients are all natural.

I like this foundation better than the new Amazonian clay one. It has a nice, light texture and is easy to blend, as well as a more natural looking finish. I've been using a sample for the last week and I think it's in Warm Sand (the SA who made the sample didn't label it), which is a pretty good match for my skin tone. Initially I thought it smelled strongly of SPF but either that has dissipated or I've gotten used to the scent because I don't really notice it anymore. I like this foundation but wouldn't repurchase it because there are others I Iike more. Also, some of the reviews on the Sephora website mentioned that this foundation is getting discontinued? Anyways, for reference I'm colormatched to Mac NC30, Shiseido O20, Nars Punjab, and BE 1.2/2.0.

I use this product in conjunction with the Tarte Smooth Operator tinted moisturizer. I use my fingers to apply the tinted moisturizer, and then a stippling brush to blend in the ReCreate over areas that are particularly reddish or uneven.
Previously, I had used MUFE HD and Laura Mercier moisturizing foundations. I like both, but the Tarte has a little extra something that bumped it a notch above the other two. It has SPF that isn't greasy, an ingredients list that seems less scary, and supposed wrinkle-fighting powers. Most foundations visibly accentuate flaky patches on my skin; this stuff seems to be the least offensive in that regard, and doesn't aggravate my dermatitis. The pump dispenses just the right amount to cover the areas I need to cover, namely my cheeks and right around my nose/mouth. It's got medium coverage but leaves a slightly dewy finish I like. Those with very oily skin may not be down with that.
After a full day, it does get a tad shiny around my forehead, but I have this problem with every foundation formula I've tried. I have dry and sensitive skin, but right between my eyebrows is a random oil slick that can't be tamed, and I've given up on using anything but blotting papers.

I absolutely adore this foundation. I try to use more natural products and Tarte is one of my favorite brands in general. This foundation blends so well into my skin and gives a flawless finish. I have dry skin and this doesn't dry me out at all. At the same time, it doesn't overcompensate and make me look oily. I'll definitely be sticking with this foundation.

I first began using this product a year ago and loved it. I could be sweating insanely and it wouldn't budge. However it had a really heavy feeling to it. I wear Porcelain and sometimes I feel like it leaves an orange tint to my face. Also the worst part, that I cant believe anyone mentioned, is the smell! It smells horrible, like sun screen. I have extremely fair skin and need the extra protection but I feel like I can smell it all day. Overall good product but didnt stay amazing like I thought. I dont like to feel like im wearing a mask of foundation. Too heavy.

I use this foundation daily. My HG foundations were previously MUFE's Face and Body and Liquid Lift. However, since trying to go more natural I decided to try this. I'm about NC35-40 and used honey in the summer but will be repurchasing it in Natural. Although, it is a bit dark for me right now, it still looks very natural. I've had comments that my face looks flawless and wondered if I was even wearing foundation. I have eczema and redness around my nose but this covers it up nicely. I use less than half a pump for my entire face and have never had an issue regarding the pump. Some have stated that they have to shake theirs before but I also have never had a problem with this. I use my Sephora airbrush foundation brush to stipple and swish. The combination works really well. It feels light on my face and lasts a good amount of time. My only issue with this is the claim of anti-aging and wrinkle rewind. I have wrinkes under my eyes and have yet to see them disappear. In fact, I have to be careful with my placement of this under my eyes as it can settle if I'm not careful. I only have to powder on my nose, chin and under my eyes to set my concealer when I use this.

ICK - I gave this away to a friend, who also hated it. I wanted to love this so much! No matter how I tried applying it, the foundation just wouldn't blend. It just kind of sat there on top of my skin. Just seemed like I was moving it around my face. It just looked horrible on my skin :-(

I use the foundation over the tinted moisturizer when I need extra rosacea coverage. Again, the wide range of shades makes choosing the best fit easier, but I found that the foundation was darker than the same-described shade in TM form. It's also rather heavy, so I need to apply it in thin layers, build-up coverage, and blend well. It does cover all the redness but looks flatter compared to the TM. It is long-wearing and needs a bit of extra scrubbing to get it off. It also has a bit of a scent which fortunately does wear off quickly--I chalk that up to it being all-natural. It's not the best foundation I ever used (that would be Prescriptives) but it does get the job done.

NW15 for reference. Normal skin, oily T zone. Tried lightest shade in Porcelain. Too dark, look orange. Looks like NC25. Great coverage, did not have to use concealer. I really liked this formula upon application, however it turned oily after 4 hours.

After much deliberating and countless sephora samples I landed on this purchase and am REALLY happy with it. it feels very good on my skin, gives me a nice even skin tone, and blends well, especially when i use a silicone stippling brush. i use less than a pump and love it as a daily foundation because the spf is a fantastic way to preserve my skin. i can't attest for the wrinkle rewind technology yet but in the week i've used it my breakout from a previous foundation cleared up and my skin quality feels good.
i highly recommend this product based not only on it's performance but it's natural ingredients and cruelty free company.

I, like HappyBlonde said in her review, cannot use avobenzone sunscreens - I am allergic - and instead, must use the sunscreen ingredients titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. The former are referred to as "chemical sunscreens" because their sunblocking process is a chemical reaction, whereas the latter are called "physical sunscreens" or sometimes called "mineral sunscreens," because their molecules physically block UV rays.
I read the ingredients on Sephora's website, which are INCORRECT and MISLEADING, and they state this product's active ingredients are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, so I bought it. Lo and behold, the packaging has a different list of ingredients, and says that its active ingredients are OCTINOXATE 7.5%, OCTISALATE 4.0%, and OXYBENZONE 2.0%.
This means if I had put it on my face without double-checking the ingredients, I would have had an allergic reaction that would last weeks!
I contacted Tarte and Sephora to tell them that Sephora is advertising an incorrect ingredient list and emphasized the medical importance of knowing which sunscreens are in a product that I'm going to smear on my face. I also advocated to Tarte that they tout all of their natural ingredients are great for sensitive skin, but to include chemical sunscreens means that many consumers with sensitive skin cannot purchase this product (and this kind of allergy is EXTREMELY common).
I haven't gotten a response yet, but will update when I do. I am still a loyal Sephora customer - always will be - but now I can't trust their ingredient lists on their website :(
I gave packaging a 5 because it's entirely recyclable.
A side note, if any of you think you are allergic to an ingredient in a cosmetic(s), ask your dermatologist to perform a "patch test."

I wanted to love this...but I'm not happy with it. I'm not really expecting it to be anti-aging, but I want something with SPF. I'm also using MUFE HD but I want to try something different. So, I got this after reading the reviews and asking opinions.
I'm only giving it a star because of the PROS:
- natural ingredients
- with SPF
CONS:
- settle on my wrinkles (especially under my eyes). And I don't have that much wrinkles!
- seems not to "sink in" and just sitting on top of my skin.
My husband even notice it and even told me that my face looks weird. And he leaned closer to look and he said that my new makeup doesn't do justice on my skin. Yikes! I took it off that instant.
I think it's a hit or miss. But try it first and see if it'll work on your skin type. I have acne-prone, oily, sensitive skin. But every skin is different so try it and see for yourself.

I like to use natural products as much as possible so Tarte is my go-to when it comes to make-up b/c of the better ingredients and super adorable colors and packaging. I bought this foundation earlier this summer and so far, it's been good. PROS- nice range of colors with more of a yellow base which is what most people look best in, concentrated consistency so you only need to use one pump or less, and better ingredients than other high end foundations. CONS- hard to spread evenly because it's thick, pump can get clumpy/clogged probably because it's so thick, and it's pretty expensive. Also, I have oilier skin and this would be best for normal/combo and I can't really tell if there's any anti-aging action going on. For now, I'm going to use all that's left because I've been breaking out and scarring more than usual and this covers really well, but don't think I will purchase again.
