This has a strong scent which I do not care for and it does linger for awhile. At the same time, this is also a good moisturizer for my oily but sensitive skin since it is not too heavy and it doesn't clog my pores which I am prone to. It softens and is perfect to use now that winter is taking a toll on my skin. It helps with the flakiness I get and doesn't create a oil slick on my face. It has a creamy, thick consistency that is hard to spread so what I do is put a bit in my palm and emulsify between my hands and then apply it to my face. It seems to absorb better that way. I am not sure if I would repurchase as I think there are better night creams I could try but it is not too bad and does the job for now.
Received a generous sample in a sample box. I've been using it now for a few weeks and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised! It smells like old fashioned creams, which I'm ambivalent about, but it's moisturising qualities are great! When I wake up my skin feels unbelievably soft and I do think it even looks a bit better! Price wise it's okay, I believe it's 23 euros for 30 ml, which makes it mid-price IMHO. Packaged in a jar, which can be a con for some, it never really bothers me. All in all I give it a big two thumbs up!
I am 18 and have oily/ acne prone skin. I LOVE the MB drying lotion. It was the only thing that got rid of my acne at 16. So when I saw the seaweed night cream on Hautelook, I thought why not. It is very moisturizing. I love it for a night cream because it smells good and doesn't cause me to breakout. A little bit goes a long way and makes your skin feel super soft. This is the only thing I put on at night after washing my face and when I wake up in the morning, my skin is bright and soft. I don't know if I would say it's amazing, but I do like it. I'm not sure if I would repurchase it because I haven't used many night creams. But I really do like it and see a difference in my skin when I skip it for a night.
This product made my entire face break out. It's heavily fragranced despite it being one of the last ingredients on the list--and that's where I draw the line on my sensitive, acne-proned skin. Luckily, I only received a sample of this, so I am definitely NOT purchasing the full product.
Mario Badescu's Seaweed Night Cream is unique in the fact that it instantly clogs my pores. Within a minute of applying, my t-zone becomes covered in clogs and tiny beads of sweat. This must be some sort of reaction to the combination of ingredients. The bladderwrack extract, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, isopropyl myristate, triethanol amine, and benzoic acid all have the potential to both clog and irritate the skin, which is a total nightmare for my super clog prone, oily, sensitive, slightly dehydrated skin. I would only suggest this to someone with dry, non-sensitive skin that never breaks out.
I can't rave about this enough. I have dry skin but I'm prone to breakouts. I love how this makes my dry skin feel plump and hydrated without using any oils. I love the texture of this, the color, the scent, the ingredients, it's all around a great night cream. If I were older I would probably want my night cream to be more dramatic in the anti-aging department but at 22, this is the perfect night cream. This feels so luxurious and is so cheap at $20.
I like MB, I like MB a lot. I had combo oily/dry/acne prone skin, and my skin loves oil. Because my skin loves oil, seaweed night cream and I just don't get along as much as I would like because of its oil free nature.
This would be a good night cream in summer though I think.
The little tub lasts quite a while, as you really don't need a lot of it. I just found by the time I had finished, I didn't really notice much else. Heck, I was subbing it with j&j moisturising day cream because it was thicker and have me more moisture.
Just not for me I'm afraid!
So. I bought this during a big MB haul at Ulta because I was finally sick of 'just dealing' with my ongoing acne issues(I'm in my 20s). His drying lotion/masks have received fairly positive reviews in this regard so I was excited to try it. I wish I had done a little more research before I sprang for this. 2-3 weeks into my new regimen, I couldn't figure out WHY I was still having cluster eruptions around my chin. I had a hunch it was the moisturizer because every other product didn't contain any comedogenic ingredients. Turns out it's the bladderwrack extract(the seaweed part). It is known to worsen acne. It also made my skin feel slightly greasy after application, and I was just hoping it was my skin still getting used to it. Turns out, it's just not a good for oily/acne-prone skin. I feel bad giving it a low review because I'm sure it's good for somebody with normal/balanced skin. But if you're having issues with breakouts....don't bother. You'll have to spend 2 weeks clearing up a gigantic breakout. And, as others have said, the smell is a bit overwhelming.
BUUUT, the Bladderwrack is added for anti-aging properties. So if that's your thing...this might work well for you.
I will never understand why companies make face creams with fragrances. It makes no sense to me. this is a good cream, but because of the fragrance it makes my skin itch when i first put it on.
I have repurchased this product two times already. I absolutely love this product. I know this is a night cream but I use this during the day as well because I'm so addicted to how it makes my skin feel. My skin is very acne prone and quite picky when it comes to products. I have not experienced any breakouts while using this and it really balances my skin since I use an acne cleanser which can be drying. My skin is quite oily and I usually wake up in the morning a grease ball but when I use this product I wake up with just nicely hydrated skin. I mentioned that I do use this during the day also and it is not ideal because I have oily skin but when I don't use this, my skin gets tight and flaky. My skin is just strange... but I'd much rather oily skin than dry skin and this product helps immensely.
