Left my face sticky and I couldn't apply makeup over top. I used this in conjuction with the toner, both left me dissapointed and sticky.

Did not help my skin. After applying it left my skin feeling very tight and dry. My skin actually started to itch turn red. This gel made my acne scars look worse and more noticeable.

I don't understand all the bad reviews this has gotten, although since everyone's skin is different, I guess people have varying viewpoints on it. For me, this is my HG for zit zapping. I don't break out often, but when I do, it's awful. Recently I developed a line of three deep under the skin, red, angry pimples on my jawline. NOTHING I tried even made a dent in them.

Finally, I saw this at Target and bought it in despair. And it worked! Withing a day or two, those big angry zits dried up and disappeared. The best part is that this gel dried them up so that they didn't come to a head and have to be popped. (Sorry for the grossness.)

It does seem to have faded the marks somewhat but I have been lax in following up with application. But I will definitely buy this again for the sheer zit zapping magic.

I am a pretty harsh critic, so for me to rave about something so much is a bit unusual. Maybe it's just my skin type that this works so well on? Maybe so. If you have extremely fair skin (med - dry) and are over 40, I highly recommend this.

The product is ok. I say okay because it doesn't help nor increase my breakouts. I feel this gel is not very strong and does not help fading. It works for minor red bumps over night but nothing too major. I didn't like how much comes in the tube for close to $10. But with everything, you have to do trial and error. OH YEA...very hard to put lotion on the face after applying the gel. It will get cakey and peel off (not your skin, the product). The conflicting ingredients cause build up so you cant really put on lotion. Overall this was a trial and error treatment for me. Won't be buying this or proactive again.

I have very dry skin that is not acne prone. However, I might get a breakout during "that" time of the month and wanted a spot treatment. Suddenly out of nowhere this past month I had a few large, painful breakouts and used this on them. Recalling how drying people often experience such treatments, I used a buffer moisturizer underneath this. It worked as advertised on me meaning overnight the blemishes were almost flat, the redness, swelling significantly reduced. I was kind of amazed because they were sore and painful. I'm left with a small reddish spot where I broke out but no scar and these spots are fading. I'm not sure if they would have faded faster had I continued to use it once the blemish was gone or not but I'm quite satisfied with the performance of this product. I think it could be helpful to most people to buffer acne spot treatments with an oil free or otherwise noncomedogenic moisturizer that they know won't further clog their pores. In doing so, although I have extremely dry skin, I experienced no further drying, flaking etc, that many reviewers even with quite oily skin, experienced.

I purchased this product around 6 months ago in an attempt to find a cheaper alternative for my spot treatment from Philosophy. Unfortunately, I can't give this stuff a very high rating at all. I've used it several times on several different occasions, and I've never once been the least bit impressed. I generally like to apply spot treatments before bed, right after I've washed my face, and let them work their magic throughout the night. I've never been able to tell a difference at all the following morning when I use this stuff, something that certainly isn't the case when I use my HG spot treatment. The price (anywhere from $6 to $9, depending on where you shop) would be absolutely amazing if the product actually worked, but for something that has no effect at all, I think the price is pretty steep. It also has a very, very strong chemical smell, which is the case with pretty much any spot treatment on the market, so I wouldn't label that a con at all. That is pretty much to be expected. Something I would consider a major con (other than the fact that the stuff just doesn't work, of course), however, would be the fact that it actually made my face very red and itchy after using it, which might have been tolerable had it actually helped my pimple!

I tried this product twice - 6 years apart to be honest. Both tries were the same. It did nothing for my skin. I have combo-to-dry acne prone skin, and it did not dry my skin out. This second try around, I've been using this stuff for nearly 4 months and it doesn't do much. My acne scars are pretty much the same, and it doesn't treat my acne (small white heads, larger cystic acne) at all. The smell is really weird, too. Also, the product splits within the first month of use, which really sucked. 4 months in, I'm 2/3 of the way done.

If your skin tends to get dry I would not use this product it really does dry out the skin but fails to dry out pimples. Also I didn't really see a difference in my acne scars.

Did not calm down my acne at all so I'm going back to my Murad sulfur treatment (that I think has been discontinued). This one was a total bust.

This did nothing to treat my pimples or fade my scars, and I think it might have made the pimples worse. Also, it dried my skin out terribly after just a few uses. It also has a strong, chemical odor to it. It goes away after a while, but with a smell like that I can't imagine what kind of harsh chemicals are in it.
