this is a really great lipstick. its my first from MAC, and its a great example of the quality from the brand, its easy to apply, very pigmented and full coverage without being heavy or uncomfortable. its actually an easier red to wear because of the golden flecks. i recommended :)

I went to MAC looking for a red lipstick that I can wear in a more casual context (than Russian Red for example) and decided on Dare You. it's a gorgeous darker red and i think can be worn casually or for a night out. will buy again when i run out

Went to MAC with a B2M looking to get either Dubonnet or MAC Red and came away with Dare You. Beautiful worn full on or sheered down with a touch of gloss. Just a perfect red...also makes teeth look whiter than white.

I dont like it much, its not that creemy like the other cremesheens I have. And it dosent go on my lips nice.. sorta slides down to the lip line, yes I should try applying a lipliner to keep it on, but I have tried other cremesheens and those I have no problems with staying on without a linner. I wont buy it I like the dubonnet more. I like how it feels and stays on. Its almost the same colour.

What an amazing dark red lipstick! A very suitable color for tanned to very dark skintones. Give it a try if you're into red lipsticks!
It's easy to apply and the texture is creamy and smooth. MAC products are usually quite pricey but I've purchased this lipstick for a reasonable price on eBay USA. Will definitely buy this again.

One of the best reds I've ever encountered for my skin coloring (sort of like Halle Berry)!! I wear this to work often and never feel like my mouth is screaming for attention. I find red can be tricky with darker skin and fuller lips, but this is the perfect shade that compliments my skin tone beautifully. Good wear if I'm not eating/drinking, but it does transfer easily. I don't mind reapplying though :) I would definitely buy this again if/when I run out!

Mac's "Dare You" is my current favorite red lipstick that I own so far. It's cremesheen so glide over lips with care, the substance can melt off and tilt to one side. This color screams out SEXPOT to me, just plain sexy. Dark red with a slight hint of brown undertone. This color really compliments my fair skin! No gloss needed since the substance has a hint of shine, not to mention it's very moisturizing. The only con to the product is that it glides off fairly easily and will most likely leave a lipstick print on the cup.

This is the perfect red lipstick. It's not super red and it's not super dark. It's the in-between beautiful red color. No lipliner is necessary. Since it is a creamsheen, it's easy to apply and moisturizes your lips. I've tried many red lipsticks in the past and this one tops it off! This is my go-to shade for a red lip. It looks so elegant and makes my teeth look white! (believe it!)

Dare You is probably my favourite red by MAC so far, but this isn't your classic red creme lipstick. It is more of a bitten, been making out - type red lipstick. The formula is really slippery and it will bleed and smear all over your teeth if you do not blot it. Lipliner won't help because this lipstick wears off easily leaving a red ring around the mouth. Once blotted though this lipstick leaves a gorgeous stain with slight sheen. Up close you can actually see little red shimmers which really makes the lips look plump and juicy. This lippie wears comfortably for a MAC lipstick. I'm only rating this 4 lippies because it does take a little work to apply and the lasting power isn't great. But I got this for free through the back2mac program so I'm not complaining!

This is my fourth colour from MAC's Cremesheen Line. I first bought Lickable, Stay in Touch, and Brave Red. I purchased Dare You from ebay since it's cheaper. I just received it today and it's a blood red colour unlike the bright cherry of Brave Red. It looks darker from the tube but goes on sheer. I think I'll be able to wear this during day to night. It brightens up my face and makes my teeth look whiter. :) Will buy again!
UPDATE: I noticed Cremesheens tend to bleed a little. Bought Urban Decay's lipstick primer and it stays in place! makes it a bit on the matte side though. and feels like im wearing a thick layer of lipstick.

Im a HUGE fan of the Cremesheens! I love the darker red color of Dare You, it's a beautiful color similar to a blood red, but goes on more sheer with a built in gloss.
Gorgeous!

This is a really pretty red. I have been looking for a darker, brownish red ever since Awake discontinued their Rose Quartz. Dare You is a great dark red, and it has the benfit of going on a little bit more sheer and transparent than a lot of other lipsticks. I feel like I could put one one light coat and not look overdone for day. I saw this recommended in In Style for olive skinned people. I have fair, warm skin (Armani # 2) and this worked for me.

Oh MAC, why must I have such hit or miss luck with your red lipsticks? I've tried Russian Red, Ruby Woo, Brave Red, Dubonnet, MAC Red, and all the red toned Viva Glams to no avail. The jury's still out on Lady Bug and I do actually like Chili. I decided to give MAC another try and look for a more brown/brick red. The SA had me try it and in the department store lighting it didn't look so bad. I decided to get it anyways.
Unfortunately when I got home, I saw just how dark it was on me. I tried blotting, using a brighter liner underneath, no luck. The texture is amazing, but the color not so much. It's a weird red/brown/berry brick color. This is someone's HG, just not mine. "Romantic Red" by Ulta is a better shade, IMO.

I don't think cremesheen finish is for me. I prefer matte and satin, especially when it comes to red and dark lipsticks.
When applied directly onto my lips, it's a deep red.
I love this colour. since it's too glossy, I blot, but that takes away the deep redness and makes it brighter.
I wanted the DEEP RED TT_TT
So, I've take the lipstick from it's original tube and put it into a little MAC pot. Since those aren't airtight, I hope the lipstick will dry up a little. Also, applying it with my finger gave me a more matte look. I kind of had to rub the lipstick in. I repeated the "rubbing-in" process to make the colour appear darker.
Otherwise, I will keep looking for a good deep red for me

My search for a red lipstick is over. Its true to color plus the cremesheen formula is great.

This is a beautiful red. Although in some lights it appears to be a soft burgundy red. Not too brown, bright, or blue/yellow in tone. It's the perfect mix. I love the shine, but these require a lipliner at all times. Without it I had some bleeding around my lips. It's a stunning shade. One of my all time favorite reds from any line! It's a very hot shade, and I wear it on dates. Update: Found a dupe for it... Sula Cosmetics is new, and their shade Love At First Sight is a dead ringer for Dare You. Even the shine and texture is the same! Only I think I prefer the Sula shade because it doesn't slide as much.

First I must say I never really wear red lipsticks but I got this for a change of pace. I am really pleased. This is called a "brown red" but you do not notice any real "brown" in it. It is a darker red that is hard to describe but really beautiful. Not "over the top bright red" but a wearable shade for work etc. This has no pink or orange tones as many reds do. I think any skin tone could wear it. Great staying power and no slip. A really great red.

On my own lips this marvelous "Dare You" colour has absolutely no "slip", & it also lasts for hours: so I'm wondering if these 2 issues, as highlighted by the last MUA'er, have something to do w/ a certain skin-type (eg, "acne-prone" -- as opposed to "normal", "dry", or "combination"). According to friends who have acne-prone skin, slipperiness & lastingness often are a basic hassle for them when it comes to so many lipsticks, i.e. not just Mac & not just "Dare You" -- as well as when it comes to so many different cosmetic products in general, including most foundations, primers, concealers & so forth. But if you have the other types of skin, &/or if slipperiness is just not an issue for you in general, then "Dare You" is such a glorious take on a true-red colour, what w/ its most unusual maple leaf undertones [& wonderfully, NO "skewing pink" problems for ANY of the reviewers here!] that it's completely worth trying! (Also, unlike the MUA'er before me, on my own lips absolutely no OTT shimmery-ness thingies, nor any microfine particles, are evident w/ "Dare You" -- but then that's part of the beauty of MUA : i.e., seeing how items react similarly for some & yet so differently for others.) And for the MUA'er who hypothesized that "Dare You" might look great on ultra-fair skin, my answer is a loud & clear YES!!! In fact it's a downright marvel on milk-white skin b/c the contrast is so marked, & yet the colour is sophisticated & polished enough to look chic & pulled-together, rather than an oddball example of WNTW. // And btw, if you order "Dare You" from Mac Online & find it doesn't work for you for ANY reason, Mac allows returns on ALL its online products including after you've opened & tried the products; AND they give you a 100% refund -- so what have you got to lose in trying a beautiful $14 lip colour like this? Indeed, I hadn't even bought or worn ANY Mac lipsticks for over a decade, until quite recently -- for I agree w/some of the other MUA'ers here: preferring the distinctive NARS family of red lipsticks is such an almost mindlessly easy choice, especially their knock-out Semi-Mattes & Satins. However, having recently chosen a handful from MAC Online just for a change of pace, I've been pleasantly surprised by several, & "Dare You" is DEFINITELY 1 of the Major Winners, along w/ a few others including "Hot Tahiti", "Rebel", & "Berry Boost". (That latter's an already killed-off Mac Red that MUA'ers so raved about, I raced right over to Ebay & found it -- & am I thrilled that it was there!) // Conclusion? "Dare You" is a Serious Keeper: indeed, so much so that I've already bought The Back-Up, since we Never Know when Mac's going to pull the plug on ANY of their best colours! // [PS: And if experiencing "slip" causes any trouble in wearing "Dare You", as the 1 sweet member here says it did in her case, it's such a divine colour you just might want to try Revlon's "Bali Brown" -- which, despite its name, is a beautiful & very "wearable" red that's ALMOST EXACTLY the same colour as Mac's "D.Y." -- yet "Bali Brown" is made w/ a completely different consistency & texture.] continued >>
