This 'blemish stick' does work for the first couple of times, but after that it is just disgusting and unhygienic. It also does dry out the skin with makes your skin very itchy.

This blemish stick comes in a packaging similar to that of a concealer which is absolutely unhygenic. Can you imagine dabbing on a spot that was supposedly be filled with bacteria and then pumping the stick back into the tube? Whoever made this packaing seriously wasn't thinking at all! Anyway, it's my fault for not checking the item before I bought it. I had assumed that it came in a tube.
Secondly, it's extremely hard to get the gel out of the tube because the wand only picks up such a pathetic amount each time. I had to pump the wand and apply repeatedly which is inconvenient and tiring. The gel didn't work at all anyway.
UPDATE: I managed to find one that comes in a tube. It costs the same as the blemish stick but contains much more of the gel. However, this gel is still a disappointment- sometimes it works but more often than not, it doesn't and it actually worsens my blemishes. Eg, I dabbed on a pimple and over a few days, it seems that more and more ones are being formed. It dries up the skin too much and it leaves behind patchy marks. Then again, I could have some cystic pimples subsiding in size as I dabbed on them over a few days.
In conclusion, I wouldn't buy this again because I can't gauge its effectiveness. It's like taking a gamble with this gel- either I make my pimples better or worse ( though, it's usually the latter) and I've stopped using it unless it's a really really huge and painful cystic pimple.
UPDATE: I have since stopped using this. The final straw came when I dabbed on a spot and the next thing I know, 3-4 humongous cystic pimples appeared. Thank god they subsided as soon as I stopped using it. Secondly, the previous spots that I mentioned earlier which I claimed the gel was effective on, well, this bloody gel dried up my skin that badly that it looks patchy like I'm being burnt.

Well I bought this when I was in the chemist, I was going to buy the body shop tea tree oil blemish stick which is half the size and 3 times more expensive so I thought I would give the Thursday plantation one a go. Boy was I surprised that night I put my moisturiser on and then the put the gel on a blemish the size of the sun that had popped up during the day. I also put it on a spot that has been under the skin being red and sour. during the night I got up to go to the loo, looked in the mirror and the big one was half the size the the one under the skin had reared it's ugly head after weeks of being under the skin. I quickly put a bit more of the tea tree oil gel on and hoped into bed. woke up in the morning and big pimples totally gone and the under the skin one was a tiny little white head. I had bought that body shop one before and it was not as effective. best pimple thing I've used that thursday plantation blemish stick. this stuff seems to speed up the healing process not just dry the blemish out. I bought their medicated acne gel for affected areas at night and that works a treat as well. Bring on the face wash!

INGREDIENTS: Aqua/Purified Water, Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Melaleuca Alternifolia/Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia) Oil, Carbomer, Potassium Hydroxide, Mentha Virdis/Spearmint (Mentha Verdis) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Limonene.
DESCRIPTION (from packaging): Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Blemish Stick is a special blend of Tea Tree Oil, Vitamin E (antioxidant) and Spearmint Oil (fragrance) with an easy to use sponge tip applicator in a convenient pocket size pack. Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Blemish Stick may assist with the management of skin blemishes.
DIRECTIONS (from packaging): Apply Tea Tree Blemish Stick to the appropriate areas as frequently as required.
OTHER COMMENTS (from packaging): Discontinue use if sensitivity occurs. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Store below 30 degrees C. Australian made.
NOTE: This is not unhygienic. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic. The sponge tip is patted onto cleansed skin. Okay, it might be on top of a blemish but this isn't designed to be used for suppurating wounds or anything. To be blunt, if you're dealing with escaped pus - which would be rarely if never - or you've accidentally got some make-up on it, then wash the applicator before reinserting it into the tube.
MY REVIEW:
Rave rave rave!
Benzoyl peroxide hates me. Neat tea tree oil hates me. But this cheap as chips tea tree oil gel comes to my rescue time and time again.
It comes in a see-through plastic tube and has a sponge-tip applicator built into the top.
Whenever I feel the unmistakeable pain of an emerging pimple, I dab the spot with this gel - 10 to 20 dabs. In the morning I dab it, let it dry and then apply my other face products. But in the evening is when I really let rip. I wash my face and dab this on every half hour or so if I remember.
Once I've achieved victory and the spot has either given up and died before coming to a head (the most common scenario) or has dried up, I stop using it, because for me the gel is an irritant once it's done its work.
The only time this doesn't work dramatically is if I don't use it early enough or often enough but even then it's very, very useful and effective for killing a spot that's come to a head.
